I was thinking - why not get our heads together and put together a press release that can be passed along to the news agencies?

I've started something, see below, but my inspirational moment has gone!

See what you guys can add to it and then we can look at getting it out there.

"A new Bitcoin-like virtual currency has launched, based on the popular game Flappy Bird.
Flappycoin, following in the steps of Dogecoin, was launched on 14th February, and is already receiving a huge interest throughout the Bitcoin style community.
The value of Bitcoin, the most famous currency, peaked at over $1200 last year, but is currently worth around $620.
There have been a number of alternative coins launched since the introduction of Bitcoin, such as Litecoin, Dogecoin, and the more recent Coinye coin, originally based on the rapper Kanye West.
Virtual currencies are often known for their anonymity, and the darker side of the internet, such as the Silk Road website, where illegal drugs were traded. However, as virtual currencies become more mainstream, 100’s of businesses and services are springing up around the virtual eco-system."

All it takes is to get this on a couple of news networks and the story will spread like wildfire...... mainstream media gets the everyday people interested!
I agree, get this or something similar out to a big number of different media channels and we will get new people into this in no time!

Is there anyone normal pool that not steals coins and big enough to find/confirm blocks with adequate speed?
Tried pool.dogechain.info and fast-pool.com, but seems they steals >50% of what mined. Or their calculators are wrong.
For example, 1Mh on litecoins now will give 0.359LTC/day - this calculations is adequate. dogechain and fast-pool shows about 9000 doges per each 1Mh. But when direct workers to them after 24h there are only ~3500-4000 doges per 1Mh. Stales % is low.
Any ideas? Is calculators on pool are lying or what? After selling this 3.5-4k doges i will have less btc's than when selling ltc's mined for same period.
Multipool.us DOGE port =)

and to think how much hate is directed to multipool =)))
Huh? you mean the profit switching pool? Im talking about only DOGE mining there becous they are stable and find blocks regulary. Ive used it since they added DOGE.

Yeah , is use them sometimes too , but I was just remembering how people used to bash them , as they were the only "responsible" for keeping the price down. +)))
So , seeing them suggested as place to mine on this thread is quite funny.
Ofc they are partially responsible for the price dumping, but choosing a worse pool only becous you don't like that coin dumpers use their multiport doesen't sound that bright to me Tongue Im looking for trouble free mining and multipool gives me that!

Was there a rise in network difficulty?  I am definitely mining a lot less then about 2 days ago.

Also is there no one interested in doge merch?  I have posted it up but I feel it gets hidden.  Beer mugs, wine glasses, pint glasses, shot glasses, etc....

Asking what thoughts are, and if there is a reason to create a line for the Dogecoin Community! (And yes we would accept dogecoins for merch!)

Thanks!  Let us know

Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.4 Released MANDATORY UPDATE

... Actually just one and a half month ago or so everyone thought that reward halving at 100,000 is terrible dev mistake and it's gonna kill DOGE. And I was the one too.  Roll Eyes
EDIT: btw what about 200,000?  Wink
You can read in the very first post on page 1 of this thread when the reward will change
(Hint: it halves at 100,000 - now just over a day away - and it halves again at block 200,000...)
The effect is likely that network hash rate goes down for some miners find it not interesting to mine,
so the diff will go down, making it relative easier for the remaining miners to find blocks, which will
compensate for the lower rewards.
*by design* the block find time will stay at 1 minute avg, so the net effect will be that the supply
(dilution or inflation) of Doge will be cut in half.
That will mean lower "sell" volume on exchanges and this could have positive effect on price (increase).
Today there are 30 million new Doge generated every hour, after tomorrow only 15 million/hour...
But we will see if that has the effect that we expect. Time will tell.
Actually the price doesen't need to get up that much higher to still be interesting for miners, at a price of 283 it has a profitability of "88" at multipool.us To still be in the top 5 coins (lowest is "57" atm) after the block half the price would have to reach aprox. 366 satoshi. Its not out of reach tbh =)

I don't think we will drop much lower than 266, should head back up from here!
I do think we will go a bit more down because of diff drop. Who knows.. I was looking at the 288 price today and I was like lets wait a bit more, don't sell (so I could buy cheaper) and then it just dropped....

Difficulty is at 1734.03100979, so it's not dropping.
Reward halving is also coming.
it was 1863.991  Wink

EDIT: ... and price is rising. I don't understand  Sad
DOGEstyle, its not understandable!

I traded some DOGE to BTC on Bter but they are stuck there, what would be the best and cheapest way to get it into FIAT?

Right now there is no way to get btc out of bter.  If you sold high and can get more doge trade your btc -> doge then you can withdraw doge/xpm/ppc only ones I've tried lately to another exchange that with allows btc withdrawal.  Once you get your doge/xpm/ppc whatever to another exchange, trade that for btc.  Now you have btc at an exchange that lets you withdraw, send/sell it to coinbase or some other service that converts btc to USD fiat.
What exchanges are are currentley allowing BTC withdrawal?

assuming u can get Doge out of Bter, not BTC:
>re-convert to Doge, remove from Bter ASAP to wallet
>move Doge to Vircurex, trade for BTC
>move BTC to Coinbase, sell to fiat, send out
Is vircurex BTC withdrawal working?

Which xchanges dont allow btc withdrawls right now ? I heard Vircurex and BTC-e ?
BTER, says that btc withdrawals are stopped they are resynching their blockchain
Yea, probably until this is resolved: https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/?p=422
I hope BTC aint dropping much further now, i sold of 1/3 of my coins to found a new mining rig but how im depending on a good BTC/FIAT price instead of a good DOGE price... I trust DOGE more than BTC atm Tongue

dogecoin will be a big hit in china

get ready for tonight dont get left out
It cant be pumped that much further? For the price to double from the 159 satoshi it started at a few days ago we need to reach 318, its not that far away from that now.. There is a big sell wall on Cryptsy at 300satoshi.

Don't let this price "pump" fool you. This is only an answer to the BTC price drop, which means that Doge still has a "lower" value. We need at least 250 Satoshis to have the same Value as @150 Satoshis with 600euro last most stable BTC price (and now it's ~200 Satoshis for ~480euro BTC price).
Do the math, you'll see.

I don't look at dollars because I live in Europe.. so....

market cap went from 45 mils to 68 mils, and the price actually increased (from $0.0011 to $0.0015).
But do we think this "pump" is in anticipation of the upcomming blockhalf or will we have a huge dump soon?

Now, imagine the price when the halving will have done its work.
What will happen? Miners will get fewer coins and will turn to other coins if the price doesen't increse to make it profitable again. If it looses miners it might get less popular?
