Hello guys, I've followed the first post guide in order to mine Electroneum with my rig. I chose the first recommended pool, but After 8+hours mining my unpaid balance is still 0.00 ETN on their website (anyway total hashes seem correctly displayed: around 60 million hashes). How is this possibile? My mean hashrate is 900h/s. Should I worry about this or not?

You need to make sure yo're mining in a pool that is finding blocks, otherwise you won't get paid anything. Which pool are you mining in?

Re: How to decide which pool to join

It totally doesn't matter.

If you choose to go with a pool that has a high hashrate you'll get rewarded more frequently with smaller amounts as blocks are found in less time. But if choose a pool with a smaller hashrate, you wait more until a block is found and then the reward is big (but actually the same.)

Most of these pool use a system called PPLNS which totally depends on the number of shares that you submitted until the block was found. It is totally the same.

Thanks for the replies again, I've been switching between the official pools, hashparty and easyhash, keeping an eye to see who finds the blocks.
Currently I'm mining electroneum and I totally prefer pools with a lot of hashrate. Not for anything specific but just to be able to jump and leave if I decide to stop mining the coin.

Also, can someone explain the difficulty when joining pools please, is it a good thing to join using the higher difficulty port, do you get more reward if you do?
No. Doesn't matter. Put it on the middle one.

great, thanks

What does my machine do while there are no blocks, it still seems to be hashing something according to the miner outputs.

Also, can someone explain the difficulty when joining pools please, is it a good thing to join using the higher difficulty port, do you get more reward if you do?

Is there a guide somewhere to answer all these questions, would be useful for engineer type people like myself, who like to know how things work behind the scenes

Thanks for your replies.

I'm checking and switching between pools with recently discovered blocks

Also, do you get more reward for solving blocks in harder pools, I'm guessing so because otherwise there would be no point, but I'm new to mining so not sure how it works

How to decide which pool to join
by
Superpup
on 23/11/2017, 06:09:48 UTC
I have a shortlist of around 10 pools to mine from depending on when blocks are discovered, but I'm not sure how to decide which one to join. Is it better to join a pool:

that has more miners connected
that has higher total hashrate

To me it makes sense to join a pool that has the lowest total hashrate, because then my hash rate would make up more of the total and so I'd solve more blocks... but is this the best way to decide, and if not, how to make the decision?

THanks for the tip, the research continues... any idea what hashrate i can expect with my card on ethhash?
Up to 20 MH/s if you've got Hynix ram, up to 25 MH/s if it's Samsung, and somewhat in between if it's Micron. Run gpu-z to check the brand of memory installed.

I have Micron memory. Seems I'm making an ok return on my card, based on my calcs from today's mining, i should be hitting somewhere around $150 p/m with my current settings

I get 510-520 on all my 1060s, regardless of memory type. All less than 60 watts at the wall. Set power to 50%, core to 0, mem to +650-700 and enjoy the profit. Cryptonights my favorite due to my high $/kwh.

Gonna check those settings now, thanks for posting

My 6x RX 570 rig needs 530 Watt and produced 50% higher hashrate per card compared to a GTX 1060. With your rig you will probably also consume at least 400 Watt at higher costs per card.

My kW/h costs are also rather high but you always need to keep a healthy balance between power limit and revenue.

I am only running one GTX, it's not a mining rig

Here's something interesting, my display performance was average at best while mining on my 1060, so I decided to put my old 7870 back in and use that for the display while the 1060 mines, then have them both mining when I'm not using the computer. Got it all set up with them both mining, and the ATI can mine and let me do basic display stuff at the same time.

Question for the more experienced miners... the gtx is pushing 500hz/s, and my 7870 442 with some overclocking, I know people have previously said that the Cryptonight algo is much better with ATI cards, but is the hashrate all that counts with mining, or are there other hardware aspects taken into account also?

Is anyone able to share their settings or offer any advice please
I think KlausT has the fastest free ccminer for cryptonight. Then there's SP with his paid miner that should be a bit faster still. At this point though it doesn't make sense anymore, there was a short period when ETN was so profitable that even nvidia guys were mining it, but now even ZEC is better than ETN on 1060.

Thanks, I'm just looking to pay off my spontaneous GTX1060 purchase, which, according to my overnight mining stats, should be around 6 months

Anything with Ethash should be better with Nvidia cards.

THanks for the tip, the research continues... any idea what hashrate i can expect with my card on ethhash?

AMD cards are much better for CryptoNight, 516h/s is good result for your card. You can go to http://monerobenchmarks.info/ and look at what hashrate are people getting with different cards.

Thanks for the link, do you think it would be better to mine something else... Is there somewhere I can find out info on this?

What Hashrate should i be looking at with a GTX 1060 Mining Electroneum
by

Just installed a gtx 1060 in my machine today, and installed cuda9 drivers, what hashrate can I expect to achieve with this. I've installed MSI after burner and have the following settings

Power Limit 80%
Temp Limit 60 degrees
core clock 2164 (+200)
Mem Clock 4404 (+600)
Fan Speed Auto.

It's running at 46 degrees, with the fan at 48%, and I'm getting 516h/s, but I am under the impression that I should be getting KHz/s, I set up the mining on an old HD 7870 and was getting 400Hz/s without overclocking, so this is only 25% faster.

Is anyone able to share their settings or offer any advice please

Thanks

How are you checking your wallet to see if you've been paid? I think you need to pay and scan the blockchain (or maybe I'm thinking of something else). If you know there is 23 ETN in there why don't you try sending the command to transfer it onto Cryptopia and see what happens - unless I've totally misread the situation.

I'm checking it by running electroneumd and syncing my computer to the blockchain, then opening the wallet and checking my balance. You can see in the first screenshot my balance is zero, I have also checked incoming payments and there arent any. If you look at the second two screenshots in my post above, payment has been sent from 2 different pools

I will try what you did with my own wallet and report back later. There is so much uncertainty with Electroneum at the moment, I am rapidly losing interest - mostly because https://my.electroneum.com/ is still broken after over a week.

I created a new wallet as it seemed like the only thing left to try, and it fixed my issue. Unfortunately the only way to test it is to set it up, start mining, and hope you receive payment

Unfortunately no, my pool dashboard show i've been paid, but I have nothing in my wallet. I've checked and double checked the address is correct and that the wallet is synced

Exactly what happened with my first test payment. I'm still holding my balance in the pool until I know for sure it's sorted.

How are you planning on sorting it, and which pool are you using?

Suprnova (see previous posts). I've been in touch with them already about it and they don't know what's wrong. It may be a problem with the blockchain or the wallet software, check the official electroneum dev blog, there was some security issue a bit back and there's a sort of lockdown happening. I'm not sure whether that's related to my problem or not, but until they post that it's solved I'm not attempting another withdrawal from SN.

(Also as per my posts above, the pool page did disappear for a bit, but it's back up now, and my balance hasn't changed there)

GreyDay - I edited my post above, but you replied while i was doing it. FYI

Fixed it... seems there was an issue with my original wallet. I created a new wallet, entered the address into both miners, and received my first payment.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to test it, you just have to set it up and hope. Luckily I've been testing on my old HD7870 while I wait for my new GPU to arrive, so I didn't lose too much

This is a pool version and you need to set pools in your config.

here are some pools you can apply

Steps is already there how to put those pools in your config.

Thanks for the reply... I already fixed the issue in my original post. But as of yesterday I still wasn't getting paid. The screenshots below show the pool pages saying I have payout, but no etn in my wallet

I disabled a single GPU in my config (I have 5 GPUs that will be on Claymore).  My configs only seem to apply to my first GPU (#0); all others GPUs run at stock.  I've tried comma-separated values for each GPU and this does not work either.  Is there another way of applying configs to all GPUs (obviously not the disabled one)?

I fixed that issue, but for some reason I'm not receiving tokens in my wallet. Different pools are showing payouts that equal around 30 etn, but none are appearing in my wallet. I ensured the blockchain is synced, and that I am using the correct wallet address

Can someone help me please, screenshots are below to show i'm using the correct address. I'm not getting any errors when I execute the miner now

Because since your miner is complaining about the address there might be something wrong with it.

I fixed that issue, I had the wallet address in two places when setting up the pool in Awesome miner. I removed it from the second location as per tutorial videos and the error disappeared, but I'm still not getting paid. Guess i could try a different pool, or a different miner anyway
