Re: Network Attack on XVG / VERGE

Major exchanges like Binance and Bittrex need to halt trading on Verge, if not outright de-list it. This shitcoin has been successfully attacked multiple times now. Stop enabling and enriching this attacker because it's clear they're not going to stop.

I've just dumped my XVG after the Ledger thing.

Doubt there's going to be another spike until the announcement, since now even the XVG subreddit is filled with people doubting the legitimacy of the announcement.

I was hoping to cash out at 1300 so I have 33% profit. Cashed at only 1120 since I don't think even the core base of the coin is not trusting this thing so much.

Probably could have cashed at more if I was a more experienced trader, however, I don't want to risk this.

As you are not an experienced trader here a good advice:

For a good trader there are ONLY 3 possible outcomes:
1.) Huge profit
2.) minimal profit
3.) minimal lose

You took #3 which is not the worst case.

I'm not in a loss.
I bought at 850 sats  Smiley
I made some 0.63BTC on a 2BTC investment, though I was hoping to round it at 3BTC (it was there for a while)
Thought there was going to be one more bull run before the announcement
But since Sunerok moved 18 million XVG to Binance and btchip tweeted Ledger has nothing to do with Verge I dropped it like it's hot  Cheesy
I think it's not going higher anymore, since even the die-hard Vergins are doubting Sunerok now.

Just be glad that you got out. Verge is going to have its BEEEECONNEEEEEEECCCCT moment in a few days.

Verge Is Forced to Fork After Suffering a 51% Attack https://news.bitcoin.com/verge-is-forced-to-fork-after-suffering-a-51-attack/ …  Cheesy

This isn't even a 51% attack. This is more like a 100% attack. Who needs hashing power when you can just magically orphan all legit blocks?

Still bullish as ever I see! Smiley

I think we should probably see north of $1500USD in 2018.

Any thoughts?

DNM adoption/emission drop alone, not to mention, iOS/Hardware wallets, bulletproofs, even a possible Coinbase onboarding.

I just don't understand why we are not top 5 by mcap. Anyway... room to grow!

Yes Monero and the mystery of market cap is fascinating

iirc it got as high as #5 last year but has been on a steady and slow tumble down the rankings ever since.

Even as I type this it is now at #12 behind NEO and then MASSIVELY behind Dash, I mean if every crypto were to stand still and Monero had a gargantuan increase of +50% it still would not be in the Top 10.

Why? who knows, there sure are a lot of coins with a circulating supply in the billions with a huge market cap probably a psychological buy seeing coins below a dollar being pumped so hard people jump on board rather quickly.

Maybe it can't shake the negative stigma around it that its basically only for criminal activity in a way that Bitcoin was able to shake.

Or maybe its because (My personal theory) people just don't give a damn about privacy, when you take that away its just a slower more expensive version of many other coins with implementation moving at a snails pace.

I still think it will move up gradually in fiat value (as a bagholder I sure hope so) but maybe it won't be in the top 10 ever again, would have to increase way over 50% to even keep up at this stage.

Who really knows though its crypto after all crazy market that makes sense to no one!

Market caps really don't tell the whole story even though they are the go-to metric for ranking the value of cryptos.

Many of the coins in the top 15 have absolutely insane premines that can be as high as tens of *billions* of coins. Most of these coins are locked up by centralized interests and don't do anything other than to inflate the market cap of that coin.

A better metric would be number of transactions, of which you would see coins like BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, and XMR at the top of.

If history repeats like it has, we will get another monster pump in the end of August.

- August 24th, 2016: AlphaBay accepts XMR for payment, massive pump

- August 21st, 2017: Bithumb lists XMR, another huge pump

- August 2018: ?

Speculation... 400 USD breached by end of the week. Johnny Mnemonic takes a victory lap next week or earlier, but definitely before 2018.

By the end of the week? At this rate, we could see $400 USD tonight.

I was very bullish about Monero for q1 and 2 2018, but i didn't have the current fee situation in mind, and this WILL become a problem if its not solved rather quickly. Crypto will accelerate in 2018 we have seen nothing yet and if monero gets to expensive to use just telling people wait for lightning won't cut it. No matter how good the privacy is. i think the community here underestimates the problem of expensive transactions.

You do know about bulletproofs cutting tx fees by 80% in the next few months, right?

All of the alts are actively working on ways (or already have) to reduce fees and increase scaling. The only crypto that isn't doing anything about it is BTC.

Pretty obvious is fake. I remember took ages to buy few BTC of AEON. Maybe things changed til today but I still think you would need weeks to spend them on AEON.  If he is supper lazy  but really want to buy he  would place 5 BTC at a time and after be bought add next 5 BTC.

Yeah, normally volume for Aeon is very low when it's not being pumped.

Now that we've had another major leak of offshore wealth in the Paradise papers, is that going to be the wake-up call for the wealthy and elite to start using Monero to hide their wealth?

We've seen that the AlphaBay shutdown has been a serious wake-up call for DNMs. Now we are starting to get a new wave of DNMs that accept Monero only for payment. They've seen the light. Multisig will get the ball rolling in a very serious way for them.

Once we get hardware wallets, it seems like the door will open in a big way for rich people to start hiding their wealth in Monero.

Hello guys I'm new to Monero, just wondering what is causing the recent drop in Monero?
I know recently all altcoins were crushed by BTC's rise, but is there any specific reason Monero collapsed against BTC?

Thanks.

No real specific reason. All alts are being sold to chase BTC forks.

I mean, look at ETH. It's now under 0.05 because of this.

hey mate, do you have any proof? Asking that because my antivirus (Malwarebytes) say its clean.

He might be talking about an updated wallet. When I downloaded the old wallet back in August, my AV said it didn't have malware.

Buy walls are looking weaker than ever. Only ~1.6 BTC worth of sells needed and SIGT goes to zero.

funny there are 300,000 in buy orders between 110 and 122 sats.. I think ill put a buy in for 1 sat and pick up like 100k worth, just so I can wait until it shoots to the moon, then Ill be rich...  Roll Eyes

Honestly, why not? I sold most of what I had at 1300 sats and at this point it probably wouldn't hurt to buy a few bucks worth of BTC and set up a buy wall at rock bottom. With the way SIGT has been in freefall it wouldn't hurt. At worst you lose some beer money.

Weird... when I go to Blockfolio and look under Yobit it shows virtually no volume on the chart; like less than $2k USD in 24 hr volume. Yet Coinmarketcap and Yobit both show that the volume is ~$53k in the same time frame.

After "and an unknown amount of Monero", it looks like the DNMs are finally starting to make their moves into XMR.

I mentioned this in a post a while back, but SIGT needs something more than just PoS. PoS has been done before, and masternodes probably won't be enough. Many coins have their own take on balancing staking and mining. See: Ark, Decred, Neo, etc. Otherwise you're probably going to be holding onto PoS coin #34 that will probably go nowhere.

Personally I think XMR > ETH in 1 year, XMR > BTC in 5 years.  That's my primary time-scale.

I can see XMR going past ETH in a year, but I'm not really too sure about XMR > BTC in 5 years. Remember back in the spring when ETH had the monster pump and it seemed like The Flippening was going to happen? Never did.

BTC for all of its flaws still has the network effect. And as we see in companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter, having a network effect on your side means that you can dominate the landscape even if your product is subpar.
