Mining alternate cryptocoin while using the computer
by

What good alternate cryptocurrency would you recommend where you can mine while surfing the internet at the same time. First, I used litecoin, but with the introduction of ASIC devices it is no longer profitable to mine. Then, I downloaded Darkcoin but even when I set it at the lowest Intensity, I can't use my computer while the mining program is running. Any recommendations?

Are there ASICS for litecoin out?

I've been mining litecoins for a little while now and noticed that I'm not generating nearly the amount of litecoins as I used to with this pool http://litecoin.miningpoolhub.com. Is this because there are ASIC devices for litecoin? What new alternate cryptocurrency is ASIC resistant?

How many litecoins are you expected to mine when you are mining at a constant 500 kh/s? A year ago I was consistently pulling 1 litecoin per month, but now I've been mining for over 2 months and I've only accrued one half of a litecoin. Has the difficulty raised that much? The site The pool I'm using is http://litecoin.miningpoolhub.com.

trying out litecoin pool 'friendshipcoin miningpoolhub' but only mining invalids

I decided to try friendship miningpoolhub  last night since I live in Asia and I needed a pool that had Asian servers. When I checked my workers this morning, I noticed that I mined 0 valid shares and 150 invalid shares. What could cause this? I'm using cgminer and when I run the program everything seems normal and it reports I'm mining 500 kh/s.

Question for litecoin miners
by
Sweetrevenge
on 13/08/2014, 18:42:56 UTC
I recently began mining litecoins in March with the pool Hypernova.org. In March, April, May, I was mining 600 kh/s which equates about 1 coin per month which is standard given the difficulty. However, then I moved, and the ISP at my apartment is heavily throttled to the point where I can't even watch streaming websites such as Twitch.TV. The throttling stops late at night but always starts again at the same time in the morning. I can also tell I'm being throttled because when I check my kh/s on Hypernova.org, it reports a substantially less amount (300 kh/s) than what my computer reports (500 kh/s). Is there any way around this, or am I fucked and I have to go for a new ISP? Do you think I should try a new alt coin?

When it comes to electricity, do not make assumptions!  Two outlets in the same room may be running or the same circuit or maybe not.  The only way to find out how your house/apt is circuited is to plug in a light bulb into an outlet and turn off the circuit breaker that you think controls that outlet.  If the light turns off, then you know what amps that outlet is running (since amps are written on the breaker switch).  You can calculate wattage by Watts=Amps x Volts and make sure you do not use more than 80% of the max wattage for continuous load.  How long was your friend mining for before the fire happened?  Also, when you say fire do you mean a burnt GPU or an actual house/apt fire?

He was mining for at least a couple months, and it was a pretty serious house fire. He was paying rent to a landlord and had to move back in with his parents until the damage is repaired. I dunno if he moved back in or not.

Mining Litecoins from Hypernova

Hello, I just began mining litecoins on Monday from the pool Hypernova.org. It seems like a legit site and I've made .12 litecoins after mining about i think 30 hours or so at 450 kh/s. Does this seem about average to anyone else mining litecoins?

Mining and Electrical Fires
by

Hello, my friend recently had an electrical fire while he was mining with his 2 rigs in his home. I don't how this could have possibly happened because I know he had a surge protector and aren't those things supposed to trip when there's too much voltage going through them? I believe he had 2 rigs in his room but I'm not sure if both rigs were on one wall outlet or if they had separate outlets. Also, one of the computers had a high end 7970 and I know this can generate a lot of voltage. My question is with my own mining setup am I at risk of starting an electrical fire? Right now I have one 5970 (2 gpus not crossfire) with a Corsair 750 watt PSU. I have it connected to a surge protector and it is the only plug on that surge protector. Any tips would be appreciated as I am shutting down my rig whenever I go to work just in case.

OK, if I shut off my computer, will it have to start from the very beginning or does it start where it leaves off?

I've looked and looked and apparently the owner of this website literally shut it down and made off will millions of dollars worth of litecoins. How come there isn't an uproar over this?

Windows 7, I've had it running for the past hour, but its showing the 'no internet' icon in the bottom right corner of the wallet. Is there something else I have to do?

Edit: Windows 7 enterprise 64 bit edition

Does anybody know the email of the person who created notroll.in. I had about 7 litecoins in an account a couple months ago, but he has since closed down his website. Has anybody else had this same problem?

Hello, my current ISP is providing 1.5 MBPS, but when I run my bitcoin wallet, it doesn't automatically sync. IS 1.5 MBPS too slow to sync bitcoin wallets?

I can't believe how no one talking about how a guy is being relieved of 25 million dollars of his cash for getting caught. Honestly, he shouldn't even be getting any jail time at all since he just donated more money to the FBI then a year's worth of taxes.

Live with your parents. Or own a home and rent it out to two or three tenants.

He will think that bitcoin is legit, for sure.

It doesn't matter what I do because he's dead convinced that the entire thing is a ponzi scheme, but I was thinking more along the lines of giving him a wallet with a bitcoin logo, or maybe a shirt that says Buy Bitcoins or something funny.
