So title says it all, i had some BTC frozen with Gox and i stopped following BTC for some time. For some reason thought the deadline was in June only to find out that i missed it by a month. Do i have any options to claim them now or am i too late and lost them forever?

I had to take three months off when the train left without me, but I'm back, Baby. I still have the cash from when i foolishly dumped and now I'm ready to get back in the game asoon and this next crash makes it cheap enough.  This many shorts get squeezed when it's over and it'll go to up like a rocket, but it's likely to get worse before it gets better.

Are you saying that because of this crash the next 'bubble' is going to be epic?

He's saying that if people feel that things couldn't be worse (capitulation) and enough people betting against BTC (shorting) suddenly find themselves getting burned when the price suddenly spikes up, these are the perfect conditions for the next big rally. Historically the previous rallies have all begun like this.

BFX's shorts just shot up to only 7.5kBTC or just about 3.5MM which is only a small portion compared to longs at 18MM. Wake me up when shorts get to 30k BTC

Someone is definatelly dumping A LOT of coins. But I don't think it's manipulation now. Just someone with a lot of coins to dump, look at the 1k ask wall at 2940 on HooBoy and he dumped few k to bring it down accross major exchanges. If someone is willing to give up coins at these prices i'll gladly take as many as i can  Grin Looks like the overall sentiment is that bitcoin is undervalued and market wants to go up. BFX longs lost 12MM or 30% (i think BFX did an amazing job controlling that avalanch), and shorts are up by like 2k BTC. All indicators are pointing up, lets see how many coins Mr Dump has, if it's Gox's coins this might take a while

Can someone explain the logic of underbidding swap demands?  Huh i.e. placing your swap demand at 0.0999 or one penny bellow that at 0.0998. It's as if you're artificially keeping the demand high while don't really want your demand to be filled  Roll Eyes

It makes sense for offers where they're underbidding each other, but if anything i'd expect demands to up each other by a penny and placing demands at 1.0001
Prolly people who don't fully understand what they are doing!

I find it very hard to believe that somone who puts a $100k figure swap ask at 0.0999 doesn't know what he's doing or a $350k swap ask just under that @ .099

Market is too immature, to be totally free, that where BFX's invisible hand of roll backs come in. Too easy to crash BFX order book the only thing stopping someone from doing just that is BFXs rollbacks.

But it's not fair my $10/BTC got filled in flash crash oh well cry me a river  Cry
if the deviation from the rest of the market is > ?% lock it down and roll back, shorts gotta play fair

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/2cruxj/this_bitfinex_credit_bubble_cannot_end_well/cjiue2r

If it is in fact true that..

"The flash crash was a prime example of that. But, when one exchange has a price of $100 and another has a price of $530, it is safe to say that is an arbitrage opportunity, and what we learned from that event was to try to unwind positions in a more complicated but more orderly way. We never enter into positions ourselves, but there are a lot of bots that run on our exchange and others. "

then why would "we" as in Bitfinex need

"In regards to flash crash issues, we strive to make sure that our prices are not becoming drastically uncorrelated to the overall market for bitcoin. The algorithms we use and the trading strategies are part of our hard won experience after riding through extreme events like those you mentioned, and I can't disclose the details, but we learned some valuable lessons, and I don't believe an event like that can happen again, or at least, we have taken steps to try and protect people from that specific situation. "

 Huh

Got this feeling as if someone is trying to corner the market. 7200BTC to 620 on stamp and the buy ledger has this almost perfect zigzag patter to average down. Need to breakout of this BS either way will do

I have a problem, my offered swap was taken for a few minutes, then closed. Now I am stuck witht the 30 days time frame and cannot close my offered swap anymore. My money is neither offered, nor taken nor closed, it is kind of frozen, listed under "Swaps currently provided". Anybody has a solution for this?

Yep looks like the site is having issues. Offers are not posted on the swap book unclescrooge to the rescue!!!!!!!!

Would be awesome to somehow have an option to filter graphs by duration i.e. if i want to borrow on a 30day term i could care less how many millions are offered on 2day terms and want to see 30day demand/offers graph. Right now i have to manually scroll through pages of USD swap offers to manually spot one for 30 days

So are we all playing lets pay US Marshals as little as we can?

The buyers will state they paid more than they actually paid, to be able to file a lower gain later.
The marshals will say it was lower than the actual price, the difference entered into a slush fund to use for random gifts to friends. Selectively, they might report a few customers to the irs.

Not much of a conspiracy theorist, but i can't imagine that that information would not be released. In fact i can't believe no one has did the research on this to see weather US Marshals released the prices before on mansion and such even with freedome of info requests?!? Huh Just too lazy to research this myself

Hello everyone,

Please don't lose faith so quickly Smiley

So yes there was a bug that sent the rate of offers posted to be 365 less than what they should.

It is now fixed as I speak.

if you had offers taken at a rate you did not want to, please send us an email at support@bitfinex.com

Please accept my apologies for the panic caused.

have a good day
Raphael

Confirmed. Thnx for quick reply
Have you already sent a mail? Were your swaps already closed?
...

Yep my erroneous swaps have already been closed

On a separate note, we went from 13MM open usd swaps on April 12 to over 17MM now and the rate is still bellow 0.1%  Shocked
