They launched March Last year which is a bear market, they we're pretty solid @0.35$ and I think it's a good buy now. What I have in mind is that they are preserving their funds since all of the projects who continue to develop without the right amount of funding closed and I adore their strategy. You better check their telegram channel to ask about those matter and they could answer you directly.
Can you share their telegram links because after I click https://t.me/temtum_official "not found" do they replace with new telegrams? but I'm also not sure if the funds are really saved by the team for future development unless they can indeed be transparent

Being able to run a node on a VPS is hardly impressive

Take a look at a real project that can be run on drones, cars, and any IOT device and still perform upto 120k TPS!

Re: Crypto on older systems (DOS, BASIC, etc...)
by
TemTum
on 29/04/2020, 21:10:10 UTC
The newer OS are actually the graphical improvement of the older ones. I don't think anybody would be using DOS or BASIC unless for the specific fields that has been using it. i.e. no personal computer in the world would be a DOS or BASIC. It would be possible to make crypto work in a DOS computer that's on modern hardware but it won't run on a 44mb disk.

Limited storage space is a huge limitation for running crypto on older systems. I've figured that it wouldn't be feasible to develop a cryptocurrency with old programming languages on old operating systems. Crypto hashing algorithms require some processing power which could make a developer's life impossible with low-end CPUs. Imagine running a Blockchain network on a single-core CPU with very low RAM, small storage space, and a slow data-transfer rate. It'll take months or even years to design a cryptocurrency of a large scale like Bitcoin on it.

I'll be surprised to see someone design a cryptocurrency on a system which uses outdated operating systems like MS-DOS, Windows 95, or Windows ME with very limited hardware requirements. It's not impossible to do it, but not entirely feasible for today's standards. People from third-world countries would be forced to get a modern system (either a PC or mobile device) just to get access to crypto. As long as anyone will be able to use crypto in the most affordable way possible, nothing else matters. Just my opinion Smiley

Look at what Temtum has deployed - a very small scalable blockchain to run in countries like africa - on older hardware while still keeping the cryptography modern !

It can be done ! - Temtum has done it and deployed their mainnet

Re: Cryptocurrencies can now be send without the use of internet.

This method of sending crypto through sms is already tested however every system has backdoors and supposed to be abused by hackers. So, it is up to the users. If we look sending bitcoin through address, it is also risky because there are copy paste malware who can change your btc address.
These are risk involved when your using a third party to transact, it might be helpful for the less privileged countries where the internet connection is not that great, but the problem still is what happens these third party sites undergo a major hack and the investors are not able to get their investment back, i like these options as it is not new as companies like coinbase already tried that but if you understand the risk involved you will not venture further.

How about when you use a cryptocurrency as it was meant to be used - a currency ! - the fact people only see crypto as a investment is the real reason adoption is still a far way away

Internet networks are everywhere, SMS seems to be getting abandoned, except for certain circumstances. People nowadays prefer to fill internet packages, right?
This service might be effective for emergencies such as when you run out of internet packages or are in a remote area that does not have internet access. But you have to understand how it works, especially if this service involves a third party, right? then what's the difference with atm and e-money? so make sure you really use a useful service.
Have a look at the Temtum network - its a decentralized SMS payment system - very interesting and effective in africa where SMS is still king and will be for the next 10-15 years at least

Re: TEMTUM and KAVA
by
TemTum
on 20/04/2020, 23:43:47 UTC
TEMTUM and KAVA which one is the best for me, I just want your advice because I intend to invest in one of these projects.

If I am not mistaken, TEMTUM is not raising money from the people while KAVA is launching an IEO. From that aspect I would say TEMTUM is the one that is determined and invested enough to go for further significant development.

Temtum didnt do any IEO - it is privately funded by the founders
And that's also why TemTum doesn't have too many communities supporting it. I do not see too many people holding TEM and not seeing it listed at any new exchange, I will choose Kava to invest. It will be a lot safer

As regards communities, KAVA seems to have it much larger than TEMTUM's. Apparently KAVA has the bigger money to spend and that is the primary reason why it has the capacity to have its token listed on several exchanges. TEMTUM does not have the luxury to have its coin listed on top exchanges this early. I think they are making sure their limited finances are being utilized properly, and that's probably focused on product development.

Temtum is well funded privately - 10m USD has so far been invested by the founders

We are focusing on use cases such as the Angullia deployment than getting listed on exchanges - as an FYI we have agreements to list onto the top exchanges but right now it doesn't align with our stragey

Unlike Kava we have a working mainnet and unique technology which countries are requesting

As it is only launched in Venezuela on text message transaction system, it should be further investigated future. But i think it is not fully risk free. We know there are many frauds in mobile banking system in our country. So to be honest, we can't say it as a good method until it is to be tested in most of the countries.

Temtum's SMS system can be used in any country !

by

Should look at projects like Temtum

The founders self funded the project to 10M USD - spent 7 years at university proving the project and ideas, got a PhD for the work, then launched it to the public - no ICO or IEO just a normal listing

This is how projects should be done - any other way that does not have a working project is just a scam

Re: Send cryptocurrency by phone number
by
TemTum
on 12/04/2020, 22:47:17 UTC
Hi, we have created an application in which cryptocurrency can be sent by phone number, even if the user is not registered in the application itself! What do you think, how much will this mutual settlement between users simplify?
What kind of project is this? This is the first time I've heard of such opportunities. If it's not a secret, tell me which mobile operator supports this type of transactions?

It would be nice if we are able to send as easy as sending SMS to the new numbers I think Facebook libra was one of such project it would be great if they come up with their crypto after their legal battle sending crypto using Whatsapp and messenger. I don't think there are other such projects right now

Exactly what temtum can do:

they also have an app that allows sending temtum inside of whatsapp and facebook messenger too

Sending coins via SMS is not new, Bitcoin can do that already.

Anyway, it's useless technology IMO because we don't use SMS anymore. Instead of doing that kind of hobby experiment, it would be better to develop scalability, features, and useful apps on top of cryptocurrency.

Take a look at africa and poorer countries - the majority of money transfers is done over mobile services such as sms rather than internet

Are you also ascertaining that it is genuine and you agree to that fact that it could be good and that one cannot get scammed through it?
My first reservation about this is that I have never heard of the name of the exchnage mentioned by the OP. Well, I do not know if others know about it and can trust it.

My concern is that blockchain technology is meant to foster transparency. With the use of SMS to transact crypto, I see no transparency in it. Also, how do you know if your transaction has reached the intended destination?

The use of this method only makes things to be more centralized because someone somewhere will have to be in control of the actual funds on the blockchain, while the users are just busy sending mere SMS.

Except the government of Venezuela is just working towards the use of blockchain and somehow centralizing the system.

Yes its genuine - we are not OP and do not use an exchange - this is a transaction to transaction through the TEM blockchain - you do not need to trust anyone as it is clear as every single transaction goes through the blockchain which you can verify and check the block explorer

the public key is linked to a phone number - pretty simple - its just like a regular transaction except it is sent over the sms system

Temtum is working with Anguilla and african countries with this tech as they roll out their national currencies

interesting but I prefer the normal way compared to sms because of course it requires a extra fee, btw does this only apply to coin temtum or can it be used for other cryptocurrency for example bitcoin / ethereum / litecoin?

Temtum uses a free to text number - this should be the case in most countries - as you can see temtum has a big presence in africa regarding this and uses use this method to send TEM free

It can be used for all tokens
