Re: Is Bitcoin Forbidden In Islam? Why?
by

Sharia law says that a currency must have an intrinsic value. This means that money must have some use before it can be considered permissible. Any currency cannot be halal just because it is considered valuable by people. There are certain instances when financial institutions create currencies which are without intrinsic value. A currency must be backed by a commodity of actual value. Bitcoin isn’t. However, this doesn’t prevent it being counted as a currency or halal. Below are the reasons why it’s counted as a currency.

Factors that make Bitcoin have intrinsic value
Its value is dictated by demand and supply
It can be used as a currency on its own
It is mined
It is scarce

Thus, individuals pay taxes at a rate lower than the ordinary income tax rate if they have held the bitcoins for more than a year. However, this also limits the tax deductions on long-term capital losses one can claim.

Japan, China, USA, UK and Netherlands. These countries have different features that could make of them a good place for Bitcoin to spread. Regulations are soft, technology penetration is high and Bitcoin businesses are growing fast. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency communities are also strong in those countries, different meetings and start-ups are pushing the Bitcoin environment to the next level.

A rising crescendo of warnings from bankers and regulators is clearly unnerving some market participants, although the bounce from lows today shows that there are plenty in the market who are buying the dips at the $10,000 support level.
