New debug executables uploaded.

All done and started, now we just have to play the waiting game.

I haven't seen it crash for at least 2-3 days on 3.4.3
Appreciated. That's no problem as no new release is scheduled any time soon unless I find some hotfix bug worth fixing.

I'm currently swamped with other work and probably need a small break from regular cgminer coding anyway.

Still running without that crash non stop since the 17th lol.

3.4.3 seems to be the most stable so fair. Still running the debug version though, so if/when it does we will catch it.

No worries - I've done this before for you, happy to do it again.

Let me know when you have 3.4.3 ready

Is there anything I can help with?

I know you're a big fan of Linux, but you've done extremely well with the windows version of cgminer. The reason I am running windows is because I have a HP N40L server with a remote access card that doesn't support the linux GUI at all so it was extremely slow.

The HP N40L server ($200 micro server) is a great little unit, the remote access card allows me to remote into it even if it is switched off, or hard locked.

Its running Windows 7 x64 and cgminer 3.4.3.

Once windows was installed, I didn't even need to install drivers because they are all natively supported and there are none to install.

I copied on cgminer, and create a quick batch file, and boom, 25 block erupters and a Butterfly labs 7gh/s unit all work without an issue.

I do experience that crash where it just says "cgminer has stopped working". A quick reboot and its up again.

After having a similar issue (moving from 3.1.1 to 3.4.0) and cigminer not seeing devices, I formatted and reinstalled windows and installed the winusb driver only and the devices detected again.

Thank you very much for the info Smiley

I am keen to get 13.04 on it so I might just upgrade.

sudo apt-get install libudev1

This is my error output with that command:

@-Ubuntu1:~/Desktop$ sudo apt-get install libudev1
[sudo] password for :
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libudev1 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'libudev1' has no installation candidate

I have tried to run this beforehand:

sudo apt-get update

No luck Sad

On another note, ckolivas, I wanted to thank you for the windows version of 3.4.2. I installed it onto my HP N40L Microserver and have a tonne of block erupters running without a hitch. I only had to install Windows 7, then that WinUSB driver utility which didn't take long at all.

It detects and starts mining with the block erupters so quickly and without error. 3.4.0 used to crash every couple of days, but 3.4.2 doesn't seem to have that crash any more.

Thanks so much!

install ..... libudev

hey mate

Thanks for the advice

But after installing it I still get the same error.

Is there a specific version I need? Sorry, I am a linux noob.

What command should I be using to install it?

I used:

sudo apt-get install libudev-dev

It installed but cgminer still says:

./cgminer: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Sorry about the dumb question but:

I was running 3.3.1 and decided to upgrade to 3.4.2, Running Ubuntu 12.04, I get this error:

./cgminer: error while loading shared libraries: libudev.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Is there an easy way to fix this? Googled around and there were no answers that solved this for me.

Thanks in advance.

It's weird because I ran 13.4 no problems what so ever. But on a shittier mainboard.

Why would you run 12.8 when 13.4 works perfectly fine? Were 7000 cards even out when 12.8 was released? Did you ever consider that you are using drivers that were never intended for that card? Have you also considered that it is why they have released newer drivers? To fix issues?

Actually 7xxx cards are supported since 11.12 (8.921) drivers.
Also AMD interest is in fixing gaming issues.

A newer driver could be better at gaming, but not necessarily at mining.
In fact, older drivers = better drivers.

Maybe try Linux? It's so easy.

12.8 = august 2012.... so yes. 7xxx cards where already out at that time...

Why don't you at least try 13.4? They release later drivers for a reason.

There is also a good AMD removal tool on their site to clear old drivers. I suggest you run that before installing updated drivers to eliminate any other issues.

3.1.1 and 3.2.1 are running my i5-3350P at 80% CPU.  3 GPUs (7850, 7950, 6970).  Eventually locks up the machine, solid.  Was OK with 2.11.4.  Running 7x64 with 12.8 drivers.
That's driver and sdk related, nothing to do with cgminer - it caches bin files generated the first time you run it and will run the same ever more on that cgminer even if you change drivers, so you almost certainly changed drivers between cgminer versions.

It's a fresh install yesterday.    Fresh install of drivers, Windows updated.  Just copied my cgminer.conf in to a freshly extracted cgminer archive.  New .bins are generated.

Do you still think it's drivers?  The 12.8 drivers worked OK before reinstall (was running an AMD chip before).

Yeah, I do.

Why would you run 12.8 when 13.4 works perfectly fine? Were 7000 cards even out when 12.8 was released? Did you ever consider that you are using drivers that were never intended for that card? Have you also considered that it is why they have released newer drivers? To fix issues?

I have a core2duo 1.8ghz running 3x 7950s with no CPU usage issues. 13.4. Then I ditched windows 7 for Ubuntu and got even more hashes. Used 13.4 there too.

When did he order? And when did you order?

He ordered around 6/23/12, I ordered about a month later 7/23/12.

Thanks.

That means that they aren't too far off. If they are into full production, they should be able to pump out hundreds per day.

sudo aticonfig -f --initial --adapter=all

Thanks so much, all up and running again!

Also, thanks for nudging me towards Linux. Was a fair bit of a learning curve, but with a few good guides I was able to get everything installed quite easily.

Was also able to get more hashes!

Hey everyone, I have a n00b question about ubuntu.

I took ckolivas's advice and moved to linux. Had it all set up and running, no problems.

But I decided to move a card (for cooling reasons) and broke the ribbon connector in the process.

I had 3 cards, and now only have 2 working.

Problem is, one of the leftover 2 cards doesn't detect in cgminer anymore, ubuntu seems to think it is there, but its not activated or something? Is there a command that I can use to re-detect or activate it?

If I run ./cgminer -n this is the output:

CL Platform 0 vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
[2013-06-02 17:40:59] CL Platform 0 name: AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing

[2013-06-02 17:40:59] No known USB devices

If I boot into windows (Drive is dual boot) both cards are there and hash happily. (3rd one is removed until I get a new ribbon cable)

Thanks for your help

Thanks. That gets us part of the way there. At least I know what it is likely trying to do when you have the problem. Do you know what happened at that particular time  [2013-05-31 14:04:07] on your machine? Did your IP address change, did you have network outage, did your ISP go down, did the pool go down? Did you delete windows in disgust and install linux to fix this?

I checked the router, and it didn't hang up or change IPs. The windows box has a static IP.

One other thing that might help - All machines mining on this particular internet connection would fail, not just this one. (They are all windows boxes)

That's the best I can tell you for now.

I haven't gone into the Linux world yet to mine because its been years, and I think I have been demoted to noob status again.

I probably should switch to linux though.

What else is running?  I have 2 machines with the same setup with 4x7970 with no problems.

M

I had 2 separate machines - one connected via the LAN and one via wireless same internet connection, and they both did the same thing. I think it has something to do with a connection drop.

Does yours do it when your Internet connection pauses/hangs or drops?
