Thanks to all who helped, if my old account had any merits left I would share them out!

I managed to recover some of my old .dat files with MultiBit, It took a long time to sync but all the data was still there.

I felt a bit sick to see how much BTC I was moving around back them!

When I started trading, Social Trading was following P&D groups on Twitter.

It was really bad times and a lot of people got Rekt and were left with bags.

Best to learn the fundamentals your self and start slowly. If you blindly follow others you may know what to do but you will never know why.

I think an update would be bad at this point. The forum has a classic look that we all recognise.

I don't think a forum which is a place to discuss, needs many more features other than what this one has!

They have emailed back now so hopefully we can get things moving now.

The problem was/is in the 2015 hack my account was taken over and the email and password changed.

Now I just have to prove who I am!

Thanks for all the help.

Does anyone remember Arch's Tent Boat by BTCarchitect and ARCHnetwork.

The thread is still there but unfortunately the pictures are long gone.

That was my favourite.

Do you think the speed and cost of Btc transactions is prohibitive to daily spending use?

It would be more convenient for the users to arrive at the resort and exchange Btc for a local token that is quicker & cheaper.

Re: What new changes would you like to see on Bitcointalk in 2024 ?

Personally I would like the ability to mute certain boards.

Like most of us (maybe) I use the "posts since last visit" link daily to refresh the feed but 90% of the posts are for things I am not interested in (Gambling, Bountys, Local etc)

It would be nice to be able to not have these clogging my feed so I could easily find new posts that do interest me.

Also... (this is user generated so would be difficult) Since being back here I have noticed people use the platform a bit like Twitter rather than a discussion forum. What I mean is that there are many posts that have a clickbait title and are just paragraphs of statement obviously copied from elsewhere and usually stating the obvious and not designed to stimulate discussion. It seems their sole purpose is to boost post count and/or hunt for merit.

Just my thoughts but apart from these small issues I am enjoying being back!

This is a really nice machine. You need to by the eInk displays and and a board but they are stupidly cheap on Ali.

I think I will get the DIY package and let you know how the build went.

Thanks for sharing this.

Hi everyone,

Is there a faster way of getting the ball rolling on this? I have emailed the recovery address but heard nothing back. I am keen to get back involved on the forum but reluctant to do it on this new account.

Many thanks.

I think over 40 is a bit low, they would have been in their late 20s when this started and probably would have exposed to it then.

I am 45 and joined here in 2013 and still follow Crypto even though I am old!

I think it depends on the person, I know people in their 20s now that still think the whole thing is a scam and also people in their 50s who are eager to learn about it. It takes a certain sort of openminded person to embrace Crypto who is able to see through all the noise.

This is actually a great motivation not to actually stay active in the forum but it also portrays the need for patience when one is dealing with bitcoin entirely. I can imagine how many people back then in 2014 or even 2017 when you came to forum will imagine the current price of bitcoin, people predicting the current price today will have been tagged mad people in those years. This shows that no matter how low bitcoin price gets it will surely regain its price back with time.

This is great advice.

Hey OP,

My story is very similar to yours. I discovered Crypto in 2013 but didn't have much money to invest so I learnt about mining. I j this forum in Nov 2013 and bought a lot of old equipment. I had a lot of fun with it back then. Unfortunately I left this forum after a year when I got into trading. I did that for a couple of years but I wasn't very good and life got in the way. I forgot about Crypto for a while and got into matched betting. Fast forward and a lot has changed for me. Someone I work with suggested we should use some spare space at work to mine Crypto as a joke and that brought back so many memories! I came back here but found my old account had been taken over in a hack and I had been posting in Russian since 2017!
I still hold a few coins with value but most of the ones I held have long since died which is sad to see. Like you I wish I hadn't become distracted and left the scene for better things that didn't work out. Slow and steady would have won that race but we can always start again.
I wish you luck and hope you are as happy to be back as I am!
