So I know everyone in here says to do their own research on all this, and that is exactly what I prefer to do. That being said, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to good places to go for research? There is a solid amount of good info throughout this forum, however, a lot of it is very conflicting and not always the most trustworthy. So I am sort of looking for either websites, blogs/vlogs, youtube channels, or just generally any good resources people use to make their decisions. It is easy to find this type of info for stocks, but knowing this is a much younger and developing marketplace, it is a tad more difficult to find. Thanks!

3000$?

there's like MAYBE 1500$ in cards there, add 500-700$ for parts....

plus 140mh/s brings in like 250$USD a month on the only algo its really good for: ETH

so 12 + month ROI, assuming no diff changes,  NO THANKS!

The cards are going for about $400 each now, so your estimate is quite a bit off. Thank you for taking the time for that post when you simply could have scrolled past it and taken your negativity elsewhere

Dude what? RX 470 for 400? I have seen them in the forums here for 200 and there are even other threads that RIGHT NOW are selling them for 230 or less. Get your act together.

Rig sold for $2950 so I think my act is plenty together, thanks  Grin

I can't even get the bios to post. I swapped all the parts minus the mobo from bad rig to good rig, and they worked fine. so i'm guessing I have my answer

This may have been suggested before, but I'm lazy and don't like to read so I'll just toss this out there and take the heat later.    Cool

Have you tried adding power to an ATX4P connection on the motherboard (or molex 4 pin connector if it has one) to supply additional power to the PCIe connections?  Even if the risers are separately powered, sometimes the board can't produce enough juice to the PCIe slots to support GPUs in all 6 positions.

I have a Gigabyte Z170x-UD5 TH mobo that had that bootloop issue that drove me nuts for a few days straight. It wouldn't run more than 5 cards when there are 6 slots (that was with all gtx 1070s) so I finally discovered the purpose of the ATX4P connector and added a SATA power cable to the board and now it boots fine with 5 1070s on risers and a 1080ti in the last onboard slot.

Sorry if this is redundant info.

I'm only running 3 cards so idk if that is super applicable but if nothing else works I'll see if that helps. Thanks for the suggestion

So new build, similar problem to the first rig I built myself. Getting the never ending "bootloop" when I fire up my mobo with everything plugged in. I know everyone says to unplug everything and try it one part at a time, which i will indeed do, but I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and found a more uniform way to fix it? Last time it was because my RAM was loose. This time my connections are all secure.

Background: building a trio rig with 2 1080ti and a 1080 mini using a 270 mobo with 850w psu. First mobo I used for this build didn't work at all. This one fires up but then goes into the endless loop. I have tried a different psu and a different RAM as well as different GPU. Leaning towards it being a faulty cpu but curious to see if anyone else has any other suggestions before I dismantle everything.

CPUs are almost never bad; sometimes you can have a bent mobo pin that causes CPU related problems.  However, I don't think that is the case here.

Maybe this will work:

Ensure the monitor is connected to the primary GPU ( the one in the 16x slot closest to the CPU )

Disconnect the USB or SSD/HHD from the rig.

Fully power off everything: including the PSU.

Press the power button several times to clear any remaining power in the mobo.

Turn the PSU powerswitch back to | "on".

power on (without the USB attached)

See if the bios posts; if you get nothing in 20 seconds; press ctrl + alt + del repeatedly until the system reboots.

Wait and see if the bios posts.

If the bios posts attach the USB key and press ctrl + alt + delete.

Let me know if this works.

Thanks a ton, will give it a shot. And if this doesn't work? Just break everything?

If this doesn't work I would try reimaging the USB key. (first ensure your downloaded zip produces the correct hash)

What kind of USB key are you using btw?

I've tried using the one that is on my working rig (same exact setup) and it didn't make a difference. Both USBs are Lexar JumpDrive S75 32GB

I would try swapping out the risers first; if you are using risers.  If you have an identical setup that works with the same USB; then it is almost for sure a hardware problem.

Are the bios settings and version the same on the working and trouble rig?

Sort of a broad question here, but anyone have any suggestions to why my mobo wont turn on? everything seems like its connected properly, probably screwed the switch up or the pins for the switch. just wondering if anyone encounters semi generic problems or common issues? its a 270 board.

try 3.5 sols  per watt  at your worst number and 4.3 per watt as your best

for founders edition cards

do tdp 70%
core 200
ram -500
fan 75%

you will be about 690  but use less power then the aorus it kind of evens out.  and the aorus is big for a case.

Could you do the same advice for others nvidia ? especially 1070 (and 1060 if you remember the settings for it too) ?

Could you link me the post you had there? a lot to look through lol

those are FE  1080ti settings for zcash

for  a  1070 itx

tdp 70%
core 200---------  may need to go to as low as 180 if unlucky  or as high as 260 if lucky
ram -500
fan 75%

only had 1 1080  a zoac mini   it did

tdp 60-75%
core 200
ram -300
fan 75%

fe editions  have lower clocks  so + 200 core  is almost certain

I get some really efficient numbers with fe 1080 ti's doing zec

58%  tdp
195 core
-500 ram
70%

the card push 4.4 sols a watt

So for the 1080ti, im looking in the file and it looks like power limit is a wattage not a percent? novice question, but im trying to figure out what exactly i need to change

my bad you want nvOS settings I am as new as you.  but on fullzero's thread I have a discussion about 1070 cards I did 110 for each one.

with 1080ti I would try 160 for each one.  read on his thread what I did for my 1070's they run well now.

oh 1200 usd vega's  need to do 2x a 1080ti  I would get 2 if they did that.

1200-1400  sols for zec at 220 watts I am in
Could you link me that post? Can't seem to find it. big thread

The motherboard will turn on but still not getting a signal on monitor from it.
CPU is intel Core i3-700
And PSU is 850w

And you're sure your USB stick is burned correctly? USB booting is enabled?

It's burned correctly but idk how i would be able to enable USB booting if I can't do anything with the mobo since its not connecting to my display

It being a newer motherboard it wouldnt need to be set to USB boot
With it not even posting. I would have to say bad CPU or memory

Well that's just great. Just don't get why everything turns on and looks like its working and the display just wont connect.

Do you have another board or CPU or memory to test?

Not currently. Back to the store i guess

Whenever there are weird problems with displaying; it is usually a problem with the bios not posting correctly due to a conflict in the system.

To best mitigate this:

Ensure the monitor is connected to the primary GPU ( the one in the 16x slot closest to the CPU )

Disconnect the USB or SSD/HHD from the rig.

Fully power off everything: including the PSU.

Press the power button several times to clear any remaining power in the mobo.

Turn the PSU powerswitch back to | "on".

power on (without the USB attached)

Great I will definitely give this a try. Hopefully it works. Really appreciate it

Alright this worked perfectly. I have it booting. getting the image on to the cardnow. set up for zcash. Recommended power limit? Individual power limit? Anything else that needs to be changed aside from wallet etc? Thanks
