What about Eligius?
Read the payout scheme details ... then you'll understand the probable reason why no one mentioned it.
(then of course there's the fact that the pool also severely screws with the block times ... IMO it's gotta be buggy to make it as bad as it is)
Did it (again) and i don't see anything "wrong" ... can you be more clear?

Sounds like bad QoS settings on your router.

Not in my case at least. Note I also restarted both my routers and it made no difference. I dont know if it was a maxing out of bandwidth that triggered the problem but its something I might test later. So far the problem only occurred once, but on both machines.
It might be only a problem of cgminer calculating the hash rate. On the server side (pool) do you see a drop in submited shares?
In my case cgminer reports a higher hash rate (impossible for my GPU) when i unzip a new version and lauch it for the first time.

Do note that port 80 works on Eligius Wink
It is still true?

Looks like I need to start looking for a new home for my 32 GH/s... =(
Don't you agree that someone who is complaining about this without donating anything is very similar to an a..hole?

To be fair, if the pool does not require a fee and he does not want to contribute, that is well within reasonable norms.
That's fair. What about complaining... That's fair too?

IMHO, I don't think we should hijack the thread to start calling people out or using masked profanity.
About hijacking ... how would you call an "I'm leaving" message on this kind of thread?
and about "masked profanity" ... I don't have any problem calling an asshole openly someone who use a free service and complains about it when the folks who are offering it have problems because of the lack of funds.
And just for the record ... i didn't called Internet151 an asshole ... because, maybe, he contributed (or he is still contributing) in some other ways ...

P.S. I am #2 on the donors list and haven't mined at the pool for a couple weeks now.
I realy appreciate it.

SMPPS is basically no variance, unless the pool experiences significant bad luck streaks without any good luck streaks to rebuild the buffer.  I will set the initial buffer to 500 BTC.  Details on the buffer will be visible on the stats page if this is the system we end up using.
What does that means?
The pool starts with 500BTC buffer (you are going to provide the BTC) OR the first 10 rounds don't get payed?
If you plan to provide 500BTC ... i would say it's a bad idea ... start the pool with 0 buffer and let the "fortune" to fill it.

personally i like pay per share. And I agree, when you have a slow miner, you get screwed out of your shares on many pools.
Can you confirm that on SMPPS model too?

A) Payout Change
  1) Proportional
  2) SMPPS
  3) PPLNS
  4) Straight PPS [will require a much larger fee due to risk]

B) Fee Change
  1) 0% Fee - I'll deal with the pool randomly failing/idling
  2) 1.5% Fee - Still cheapest of the "Big 3", with all current perks [120 block wait for confirmations (no invalid protection)]
  3) 2% Fee - Tied for lowest of the "Big 3", with all current perks [with no waiting on block confirmations (includes invalids)]

Right now, it looks like SMPPS or PPLNS and a 2% fee without 120 block confirmation waiting.  The SMPPS will start with a couple hundred BTC as a buffer.   Either way, merged mining will be a part of the new BTC Guild when its done.

I'll say:
A.2 -> SMPPS (i'm mining on ARS now ... and its the best payout method i've seen till now)
B... -> I'll say NO 0% fee. Minim 0.5%(no api, no stats ... only mining) and give something for 1%, 1.5% and 2%.

PS
Don't forget to open 80 and/or 8080 ports for mining Smiley

From the README file:
Quote
Q: How does the donation feature work and how does it affect my shares?
A: The donation feature is disabled by default and only does anything once
enabled. It queries the author's website for login credentials and contributes
up to a proportion of work to the author's account. While the overall
accepted/rejected rates will include this work, none of these will appear in
your own accounts. On exiting, the summary will tell you how many shares were
contributed to the author.

Some questions:
1. Does the donation option work behind a firewall (with only port 80 and 8080 opened)?
2. How does it works? ... it will get some work from your site and submit it back to your site?
3. What site will query?

thanks

BurningToad, is there a hidden option some where to turn LP off?

Thanks.

This option is disabled by the miner ... so read your miner documentation ..

Hi Diablo,
I have a Radeon 6670 running on Win7-64bit and after i upgraded the Catalyst to the last version (11.8 from 11.6) my hardware errors reported are between 20% and 25% and the CPU usage is 40% to 50% (before was under 10%).

Any idea what should i do or where i should look for some info?

Thanks.
edit: forgot to mention that i use the default configuration (launched the .exe using only with the -o, -r, -u and -p options).

Try adding -v 2 to see if it decreases HW errors.

Also, newer versions of Catalyst have a CPU use bug that effects all OpenCL apps. It cannot be fixed from within the app.
Thanks, Diablo.
The -v 2 option reduced the HW errors from 20-25% to 1-2% and increased the Mhs by 12%!

With 11.9 driver I started to have 10% HW errors but the CPU usage disappeared.
I added to the previous configuration -w 128 and now it all works perfectly Smiley (HW errors <0.5%, gained another 4% MHs and CPU usage is 1%)
Thanks

Agree. Reminds me of Schumer.

He basically said Bitcoin is digital gold and a good investment.

LOL
Thinking of Bitcoin as an investment is as stupid as thinking of dust as an investment.
Read this article: http://www.technologyreview.com/computing/38392/ ... the guy doesn't make any "predictions" he only analyze the current situation.
