Guncoin, really dropped the ball on a deal with Gunbroker.com. They are now using FreedomCoin! I remember when people were talking about this and nothing happened.

I really do appreciate the sharing of the information regarding Gunbroker and Freedomcoin.
I had no idea that had happened and was now a thing.
It really brings to light, the need for the community to help as much as they may to promote and use Guncoin.
The Devs here have always let us know that Guncoin is a truly decentralized currency, and that it is up to us to make things happen.
We have seen a lot from them, such as masternodes, website, web wallet, regular posts, answers to questions, etc...
So the Guncoin team didn't let us down, we all let ourselves down.
That said though, it looks as if when one uses the Gunbroker pay system and Bit Rail, there will be fees involved.
When one uses Guncoin, there is none, other than the minimal transaction fee, and there is nothing stopping Gunbroker users as far as I know from using Guncoin.
Here is a pic of my "Guncoin Glock" purchased on Gunbroker form a supporter of Guncoin, using Guncoin.
It has been a while though.
Hopefully we can see more of this someday :-)

Integration and testing for the Guncoin masternodes continues - we hope within 2 - 3 weeks to have or first release of 2.0. Lot bigger effort than we planned, but what we are seeing is very impressive at this point.
Good things take time, and am very glad to see GUN moving ahead.Looking forward to an insta-send type option.

Cryptopia has always had a lack of integrity, so I highly doubt anyone will get any coins back. It will likely not happen before the end of 2019 if ever.
Basically, if you want to buy or sell Guncoin, you need to use SouthExchange for the the near future at least.

I agree that SouthExchange is probably our best bet for now, haven't used Enmanet much, but they did respond well to an issue I had.
Cryptopia....I have always had good dealings with them, but yeah....I don't expect any coins back for a while, but I do believe that will happen.

Is that split right? Looks to be the other way around. Usually the split is in favor of the masternodes.
We are going with a stake of 200K per masternode and a 50%/45%/5% (miners/MN/projects-charity)split. Other parameters are to be announced. That is what we are coding now. Everything is being integrated and going very well after the initial issues. We hope to start full testing by this weekend if all goes well. We have 3-4 testers sign up to help check everything out. We are still on track to release in 3rd week of April.
I like that split.
We are not leaving miners behind, (at least the ones that care) by basically splitting the block rewards between those that choose to continue to mine and the MNs, as we advance/adapt/evolve GUN into something even more useful.
With the Projects-Charity %, I believe that we will be opening up new opportunities by having funds for advertising, and by giving potential gun related causes a reason to notice GUN, become involved, and spread the word.
Looks like win/win/win to me.
We saw a tweet from Cryptopia this morning that they will be open in read only mode by Monday. While this is not trading ready, it is a big and long awaited step for them and for Guncoin. Many of our users have had their coins stuck there and for sure will need them and more to setup Guncoin masternodes when we have that project completed later this month. In the mean time, please keep in mind that we have two other exchanges where you can trade GUN in SouthXchange and Enmanet. So far, reviews are very positive on both exchanges.
We see that Cryptopia is open and back online in read-only mode - this is great news. We encourage everyone to log in and change their passwords and get ready for trading to being in a few days.
Looking forward to seeing Cryptopia back up and running, especially with them being one of my favorite exchanges :-)

I don't know what to think about this. Everybody should be entitled to do whatever he wants, but when it comes to deadly firearms it somehow feels different. Is this going to be an anonymous coin that is supposed to be used for gun purchases? Do you think that this would ever be in compliance with the law?
Guess what - all crypto coins are basically anonymous and will probably become more so as time goes on. But guess what - so is CASH. ANY gun sold for cash has bypassed all means of financial traceability. All that being said, the Guncoin Team is in full support of 100% of all current and existing gun laws in whatever jurisdiction you choose. While it is true the laws drastically differ between Texas and California or New York and Wyoming, or Australia to Germany - no matter where you are and buying and selling firearms, the Guncoin Team is in support of 100% compliance with all the local firearms laws. In other words, we want Guncoin used for all legal firearms transactions. Guncoin has been in existence for 5 years now and real firearm sales have occurred on Gunbroker.com and other websites already and we are very proud of that fact.
Please keep in mind that a knife is a deadly weapon or not, a broken bottle is a deadly weapon or not, a fist is a deadly weapon or not, a bottle of Drano is a deadly weapon or not. A gun by itself is not a deadly weapon, unless like the other items, it is in the hands of a person whose intent or motive is to harm someone. So we are not going to get into discussions going down this path please - I will ask they be deleted because they will go on forever. Just know our stance and that of our supporters.
Gun ownership in the United States is guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment and is the legal right of every legal US Citizen. Many countries have similar laws, many do not. So our coin is designed to support a legal activity guaranteed by our current laws. One cannot make that claim for coins designed for illegal drugs, illegal gambling or illegal sexual activities, but yet those coins still exist and prosper.....I think that pretty much sums up our point of view......
A gun comes with a major difference compared to a knife: if I was forced to kill someone for whatever reason, please save me from having to use a knife. Killing someone remotely reduces the level of involved empathy. Now many of the things you said are true, but I am just against guns. Better fight the causes that made you feel or believe you need a gun to protect yourself.
I wholeheartedly support your personal right to not care for guns, as I am sure that many here also do, as I hope others support my right to care for them.
I also agree that it's good to fight the causes that makes one need a gun (I wish we saw more of this, rather than the
attacks we see on firearms, our rights, and the constitution), and good to keep a gun handy until the outcome of
those fights comes to fruition.

It is good to see the consideration of masternodes to help progress GUN to another level.
First thought...if masternodes can somehow help even out GUN"s block times, that would be a great effect to see.
I believe that some sort of "Instant Send" (now that would be awesome!) backed by masternodes would allow GUN to be used more easily
for transactions and would build more trust/confidence in the network.
In regard to the expense of a masternode, I imagine there are costs to cover, and that should be considered in the amount needed to run
one, but am not sure what that actually would be.
My gut tells me that starting with somewhere around 500,000 to 1,000,000 may be a reasonable amount, (we could have a decent
percentage of the GUN locked up and also eventually have a couple hundred Masternodes too) and if that may someday turn out to be too
high or low a figure...change it...adapt until this works :-)
Well, now that we are back trading again on the exchanges and our new code (V1.5.3) has forked and is running successfully, it is time for us to announce the next enhancements for Guncoin. Without going into a lot of detail at this time, Guncoin will soon have masternodes available. We have been planning it for a while and still finalizing details of how it all will be laid out. But we think the time is right for GUN to move that direction. It is NOT an easy task based on where we are right now. But we think by early spring 2019, that GUN masternodes will be an option for our community members.
You should avoid that; they ruin all communities.
I like the idea of masternodes, especially if they do something to help keep the blockchain timing consistent, and possibly help with the funding of further development of Guncoin.
With a "better", more stable and usable currency, we would probably also end up with a larger community than we have now.

Guncoin 1.5.2 has been released, this is a mandatory update with a hard fork set for the 14th December. Please upgrade to 1.5.2 before that date. Cryptopia lost a lot of coins due to attackers exploiting the Bitcoin DoS vulnerability CVE-2018-17144, this hard fork will generate replacement coins for Cryptopia and pay for new development work. The inflation model is being moved forward to compensate for the extra coins, reward will change to 75 coins per block at height 1,112,500 instead of 1,500,000 and 50 coins per block on height 1,462,500 instead of 2,000,000. Once Cryptopia have been compensated the GUN wallet on there can be brought out of maintenance and trading there will be back to normal . Please download the new version from the Guncoin release below (NOT THE WEBSITE YET).
