couldn't find the "Picture of your mining farm" thread so i guess this will do.

phase 1

That's never gonna work with those AC units lol

That could very easily work - depends on the ambient. If it's in a polar region there's no need for AC - just vent the top off and use good filtration.  Problem is we can't what's off the picture, perhaps they have evap coolers.
Agreed.  Could very easily fly provided room's ambient temp is relatively low and air circulation throughout the room is decent.

Interesting piece of hardware.  I'm just wondering what happens though if your using the Forget Keys option and your thermal printer takes a crap on you just before printing out your privkey?

Re: Can I trust BTC exchanges?

Absolutely right to feel kind of 'awkward', you have good senses.  If your going to use an exchange try to stick with the more reputable (i.e. well known ones), bitstamp, btcchina, coindesk, etc.  but as others have already mentioned, don't keep any of your long-term bitcoin savings on an exchange.  Your basically trusting the keys to your crypto-wealth to another party when you do and any number of things can obviously go wrong in that scenario.

If your not interested in hitting the faucets then watching for coin giveaways and promotions is a good way to go.  And in-between your forum check's you can earn a few extra satoshi's playing CoinFlapper.

Damn good question.  I think the whole Mt. Gox debacle without question set the entire bitcoin adoption timeline back at least a good 4-6 years if you take into consideration both the bot manipulation of price and then alleged "hack".  Sure hope that guy gets prosecuted but really starting to doubt anything will happen to him.

Hi Guys,
I have amazon giftcard of $224. Please let me know your offer if any one is interested.

Thanks,
Rahul.

Newbie selling gift card..

Don't deal unless he sends first or you use escrow.

Also many people have scammed members here in past selling hacked gift cards so I recommend trading with caution
Completely agree.  New account with absolutely no posting activity at all before wanting to dump a $200+ gift card?  Highly suspect.

Holy Crap...sorry about that.  Bralex had asked me to change my signature and foolishly I switched it too one that I'm not involved with.  If I can still be part of this campaign it would be appreciated.  I believe I have my signature fixed now.

So I'm assuming that since there is no posted URL and it lists having Windows 7+ as a system requirement that this is some sort of stand alone executable?

If you have some sort of skill or product that you would like to sell you can try the [Marketplace] thread.  Alternatively, you can start small with faucets and continue posting on the forums because getting involved with a decent signature campaign can put a few spare satoshi's in your wallet too

Re: How can the Bitcoin Foundation best help Bitcoin? From New Exec Director
by
ThomasCrowne

I think it would be nice to see the following:

1) More transparency insofar as how Foundation funds are being spent.
2) More focus on General Education type programs for the not so technically inclined boys and girls.
3) And oh yeah, did I mention more focus on Education?  (get into the schools, educate them while they are young)

Widespread acceptance of bitcoin or it's like is going to take sometime.  Hopefully I'll get to see it in my lifetime but I have a feeling the battle between the fiat-established mega crops and the freedom loving crypto enthusiasts is going to take decades to ultimately play out.  Regardless, sharing the pure decentralized p2p nature of bitcoin with the youth is really where the long term success for bitcoin lays imho.

Yup. Just bought $4,000 worth of coins at 217 Smiley
Undoubtedly the smarter play at this point if you still believe.

BTW, for future reference, you would be lucky to be able to run 1x or 2x units in your apartment before you would likely blow your circuit out.  These ASIC's definitely suck down a heck of alotta juice.

Re: 67 Weeks Until...
by
ThomasCrowne
on 15/04/2015, 04:52:45 UTC
So, all in all, without major technological breakthrough, mining s dead. Without major price increase, BTC economy s dead.
I really hope not.

It is unquestionable:  The block halving event will cause major disruption and volatility within the bitcoin markets; and mining atmosphere. There is no question about it.  Fear/Panic will likely take hold months before. After any sort of major price drop or difficulty drop - greed will then settle in - and then a tug of war between both.

This will not all happen in 67 weeks... it will begin long before. It's not a secret, so the effect the halving has will be factored into the event's repercussions long in advance.

Strato
I agree with Stratobitz on this point.  I have a feeling the 'smart' players will likely begin dumping equipment (slowly at first and gradually picking up the pace) up to 3 months before the actual halving.

Just did the math:

You would have exactly a 0.000000000082930% chance of hitting a block over a 1 year period running at 99.999% efficiency 24/7 (assuming difficulty remains static)

*And yeah, that's fraction of a single percent!

Re: Support did not hold... But don't panic.

I'm feeling so bad now. I checked the price is $219 and now it is going to decrease even more.  Cry Fortunately, I have only $6.5 worth bitcoins else it would be a huge loss for me. I'm about to panic now.

I have about $4k in crypto.  Not panicing at all, could go to zero I wouldn't be too upset.

You do have a strong hand. With only a few hundred dollars in Bitcoin, I am a nervous wreck.

Hmm if you are representative of the majority of hodlers out there then I think I see the problem.

Can't wait until it gets lower so I can go all in. Currently I'm slowly moving my life savings into bitcoin.
Slowly and a little bit at a time taking advantage of the moving cost average is an excellent strategy.  Plus you minimize your up-front exposure level just in case bitcoin really decides to take a dump here soon.

by

Not only do you have the majority of mined BTC getting dumped just to cover maintenance costs at this point, I have a sneaking suspicion that a great deal of it has to do with large batches of illegitimately acquired BTC being dumped on the market with insufficient liquidity to absorb the hit.  Hackers, scammers and thiefs be dumpin y'all to put it into hip speak!

I seriously doubt Greece will end up defaulting.  Despite the hard-lined stance their leadership has tried to portray these past few weeks I have a sneaking suspicion that they will end up capitulating in the end.  Don't they all?

Those nanofury's can be a great teaching tool when first introducing somebody to the whole concept of mining.
