Shift vote day is here for some timezones! Make sure to get out and vote. Guidelines to be eligible to have your vote fees refunded can be found here;
https://www.shiftproject.com/news/news-item/11

Also, a community member has assembled a suggested list of delegates to vote/unvote and the reasoning behind that here;

For people having pool issues, I mined at mining pool hub for months with no issues. Used them before for a few other coins with no issues, MPH has been reliable in my experience.

Newsletter is Very Good, Investors benefit from no goldenblock and ico, no new coins, all funds to help speed up development coming from the delegates willing donating.

What do you think about the marketing campaign? Will they get a good impact and results?

Yes, they will, give them time...

People first complain because the golden block, and golden block wanted for speed up development and for marketing... now people complain for lack for marketing hahah..

If people are not participating in development or marketing, people can donate to help Dev Team, here you can find the addresses: https://www.shiftnrg.org/donate/

Marketing is an important question that should not be avoided any longer. This project has been in development since 2015. So, the 'development first and then marketing' answer is no longer valid. I believe the team should do some real marketing after Phantom hits mainnet if they want this coin to break into the Top 100. It's a really great project. It would be a shame to let it go to waste due to lack of publicity.

We have to understand one thing clearly. The best technology does not always win in this world. The one who can market the best often wins. This is why Apple can sell turd for a high premium while other companies with superior tech are constantly undercutting each other for measly profits.

That has always been the plan. Get a working product on mainnet first, then market it. It has been in development since 2015, yes but also had a major setback having to switch to a completely new codebase (from eth to lsk due to 51% attacks) and had to start over. The team has been consistently delivering and progressing since then.

In Shift's  DPoS system if you are a delegate you get the same reward as the rest of 100 delegates no matter how many coins u have in your wallet ? How many coins / month maked a delegate at the moment ?

Yes, same reward, currently at 1.1 per block plus any fees. Block time is 27 seconds, so delegates forge once every 45 minutes, about 30 per day, so about 900 per month.

Also, message from Ralf on the Ryver chat regarding the concerns about the API endpoint:
"Ralf SWed 7:34am
Update regarding the concerns posted at 4chan.org some days ago. We made it priority #1 and have rewritten the wallet transactions to offlinerequests. We're doing some final testing and will soon ask our delegates to update their wallets. For the sake of security we'll completely remove the API call (with private key as parameter) from Shift core as well."

Hello. So SHIFT is a fork of Lisk or Ethereum ? In the OP they say is a fork of Ethereum. Where can i find a Slack channel ? Is it one ? what is the total supply of coins at the  moment?

It was a fork of Eth but due to 51% attacks switched over the the Lisk codebase. In both cases Shift was had its own blockchain, so not currently connected directly to Lisk, but using the same codebase.

We switched over the Ryver awhile back due to costs associated with Slack. The link to signup is here: https://shiftnrg.ryver.com/application/signup/members/Q3vvIv5azjNuFKl
You can find the link from the website under the Contact tab.

Total supply can be found in the explorer: https://explorer.shiftnrg.org/. Just under 11 million at this point. Inflation is ~10% annually

Anyone can please answer this?

Is 500 Shift worth staking? What sort of returns can I expect every month?

It all depends on which pools you join. All pools payout a little differently. If you can become a delegate, you will make about 1000 Shift per month, but you have to be voted top 101. Most just join pools that are already delegates.

Thanks but I wanted to get an idea like how much return can I expect in general (not exact figures). I know pools payout a particular percentage but overall there must be a range right? Like if ROI is 1 Shift a year from voting with 10k then it's not worth it. That's what I want to know.

It's pretty impossible to tell right now. More pools get voted in every day and as people move funds to and from the exchanges your voting weight, and therefore payout, will change. However, if you go to Vekexasia's neat tool he posted about a few pages ago and plug in an address from the explorer with about 10k, you can see they're earning about 50 Shift/month
https://dpostools.com/SHIFT/holderview/5896893697515518514S
So about 6% return per year if my match is correct. It's not bad, and obviously we all hope Shift will go up in value as well, but it's no GPU miner making ROI in 90 days. Basically if you're already invested, vote for pools and other solid delegates, and it's not a bad idea to buy some and vote for another source of passive income and possible investment appreciation. But don't expect to double your money in a year. To my knowledge, no other DPOS coin would return much more either.

would like to see a dedicated marketing team hired once mainnet is ready. devs shouldnt be handling marketing, devs are for dev.
Marketing is planned once Phantom is running and stable on mainnet. They won't stop anyone from marketing themselves, but the team wants to have a working product before official marketing is done.

Have the devs addressed this yet?

http://boards.4chan.org/biz/thread/2836956

Very scary...

They've talked about client sided signing before.
If you don't trust the devs then it's easy to run your own node and only transact from there.

Has anyone even had a look at the product?

You're all hyping something as the next big thing but you have seen nothing of it, and the devs don't exactly inspire confidence in the way they communicate

You can see Phantom on testnet. It is running and being tested. The devs don't always comment on the forums, but they are making progress and updating us with the monthly reports. Until Phantom is on mainnet, the devs will not spend much time chatting on forums or marketing. They want Phantom to be 100% working first. It is a different approach than most, but I have been impressed on their progress thus far.

Could you, please, explain, how to access the testnet, as there's no info about it on the OP,
it could prevent a lot of questions about the project's progress

https://wallet.testnet.shiftnrg.org/
Make an account, go to applications > Phantom > Open > Open anyway
Welcome to the playground. Obviously since it's testnet nothing is permanent  and there's always a chance you run into bugs. To the best of my knowledge the official wallet will let you do everything, but you could always run your own test node on an Ubuntu setup very easily.

Check out Roadmap 4 video, text Roadmap coming shortly.

Neat video, but there's no way anyone can read that fast. You may be better off just sticking to the headlines in the video and directing people to the text version for explanations/descriptions

Hi,  a couple of weeks ago I voted for 4 delegates.  1 delegate (seatrips) send me some shift back I assume as a reward for voting for them, thank you, but that was a couple weeks ago.  The other 3 have not sent given me anything.  Is this in the normal course of events? Do you think I voted for some bad delegates and been short-changed (except it seems seatrip)? Should I expect more rewards from them Huh?

Hi guys i bought some shift than i voted for some delegate, how long does it take for the first payment? i'm voting since 6 days
Thanks

I depends on your voting weight and not all delegates run as pools. The following delegates are pools (sharing percentage varies);
seatrips, gregorst, shiftraider, shiftspider, bawga, shiftpool, jamiec79, official_pool, djandre (from saluki on the Ryver chat)

Most pools have websites that you can check your stats such as;
https://pool.gregorst.org/
https://pool.seatrips.nl/

The forging reward for Shift is fairly low (1 Shift per block) so depending on your weight it might take a bit to reach a payout threshold. Usually it's .1 around 1 from what I've seen.

SHIFT team said today that they write a lot at their Chat (Ryver) and published an update the day before yesterday and are about to release something big in two days! Very operative guys. They are working! Smiley
When will they release? Today or tomorrow?

Two brand new accounts above, trying to create hype. No one said anything about two days, although there should be a mainnet release to match the current testnet soon, which integrates IPFS, but not quite Phantom yet.

@cryptoholic11 and @bionioncle
If you want constant updates join the Ryver chat! It's very active. Also a new version of testnet was just released yesterday that gets the IPFS integration and it will be live on mainnet next. Phantom should be following closely behind although we haven't been given a solid date. It will be ready once it's ready.
https://github.com/ShiftNrg/shift/tree/testnet

Also Shift is based off of the Lisk codebase but the teams are not working together. Both teams have contributed to making the overall codebase better though.

Hello guys,

There is only online wallet?

Will there soon be a wallet that can be installed?
Where can you activate proof of delegate easily as with ARK?

Have a centralized wallet for a decentralized web.

thank you for your reply

Currently only official wallet;
https://wallet.shiftnrg.org/

But you could install and run a node yourself on something running linux if you wanted to
https://github.com/ShiftNrg/shift

Registering a delegate is easy. You would need to run your own node for sure then, preferably on a VPS, get connected on the Ryver chat and try to get voted in. Getting voted in is the hard part Smiley

Can't I use my own password for the shift wallet?

And how do I send shift coins to the wallet? Can't find the address or the option to receive coins, just to send.

I don't think so. Not sure if there is an exact reason why or not, but the given passwords are very secure.

Your address is the number (and the S) in the upper left corner under the silhouette.

Haha reminds me of Pascal.. with that wallet it's easy to see which account owns what and Poloniex has 85% of the circulating supply in their wallet.

In any case, just bought 4000 SHIFT @ 76000 sats.  Long and strong. Nice rebound in progess.

Bittrex don't own the coins, users of bittrex own their coins, I personally have some coins on bittrex just for trading and I am holding most of my coins out of the exchange.

where do you suggest storing shift coins.

You can make a wallet and store them there. Got to tools->wallet from the official site. Make sure to always use the official wallet!
https://www.shiftnrg.org/

It would also be smart to make a second passphrase and store it somewhere different than the first. Just make sure to not lose it!

Current supply is about 10.8 million. Inflation is about 1 million per year (1 Shift forged every 27 seconds).
https://explorer.shiftnrg.org/

Will the inflation be less in the future? Is there a cap on total number of tokens?

Inflation goes down as supply goes up. There was a blurb from Ralph on the Ryver a bit ago about the block reward increasing to 1.1, but nothing since. No cap on total number of coins. The relatively low supply right now could be argued as good or bad.
