It's bad luck to sell all in crypto.
Modern economists prefer diversification of their own risk. It's mean that even if they put some money on things that will fail and their money will pass away - they still got something in the pocket.

I think it's wise to diversify your investment portfolio to hedge your funds from fails. But unlike real world in crypto currency world people usually invest in coins with similar features and often the coins with common features are based on one algo.
In the world of fiat if you want to hedge your funds you should invest in different financial instruments most of which are shares of companies from different spheres (communication, oil, airline, etc)

Indeed, here people usually invest in coins based on one technology

I just mentioned that I've also invested in coins based on CryptoNote technology. Should I invest in other coins too?

Just keep mining, keep smiling and wait for new developments from Devs. BCN is a slow burn - not a pump and dump like the clones! I should know - I just resumed mining after nearly two years.

I guess you get excited to dispute with everyone here. Do you have another goals except breeding enmity?

On Altcoin scene there are few coins to have necessary features to be as good as Bitcoin: one of them is ,no doubt, Bytecoin (BCN).
BCN with its stories about Cicada is indeed hell of a mistery. Maybe, sometime it doesn't look promising to invest in the coin as it costs a little, but that is the loop where ordinary investors get into because they decide to invest in shares when the price is rising , but famous investors decide to buy shares when they the price is low.

Looks like all bugs are fixed and new code is working stable.
Nowadays Bytecoin appears to be a good coin to invest into as being shown by my own purchases of BCN
Many thanks to developers for recent updates. Wish the next one update won't have any problems

I wish the same as I've got some problem with the synchronization recently. Finally , it works good and I can easily send/get coins.

I've got a question: am I right, you don't need to write ''exit'' in command line now? the sync would be automatically saved?

Exactly ! You don't need to use this command when you end mining. That's good for people like me who sometimes forget to use wallet commands

Yes, it's very convenient. I always forget to use wallet commands. It is kinda gift for me

Recently I've mentioned that the wallet updates in 100x faster ! That's good for new miners  Cheesy

Madzooka, TonyXZ, thanks a lot for the info.

I think I didn't get it -  if there are m-of-n multisig addresses what are the limits of m and n? multi-sig m-of-n transactions with n > 3 is supported, isnt it?

welcome.

In case with BTC standard multi-sig outputs have max 3 keys, but it is possible to add up to 16 keys.
IMHO, the same situation with BCN

I don't know if these two events (multi-sig txns and BCN launch) were somehow connected with each other but no doubt both of them have influenced on Crypto Currency world.

I agree that multi-sig is great. That's good for BCN community that devs have implemented multi-sig txns as they make txns with the use of escrow completely transparent and protected from fraud

Noob question but what is ''multi-sig txns''? how does it work?

I think here you can find easy to explanation of multi-sig transactions - http://bitcoinmagazine.com/11848/multisig-explained/

I just saw some Monero troll said that he doesnt post here anymore because nothing is happening and apparently we are not relevant.
And you know what - i agree, we need more ACTION!

As the first CryptoNote coin, Bytecoin will always be relevant. The Bytecoin devs have always been really quiet for some reason though. DStrange said something about something big coming up soon didn't he? Has it already happened? Anyone have any news of what it could be?

Indeed, recently DStrange told us that there's going to be new implementations and updates but , as far as I know, it hasn't happened yet. I haven't heard what exactly devs are going to show us but now we are able to talk to them -  https://twitter.com/Bytecoin_BCN/status/496935769744105472 ! Smiley

Apple is not lost... It will be maybe better in the future.. see article which was done with Harry (one of the person in the core team of Bytecoin) and one sentence about iPhone at the end of the article :

http://bitcoinwarrior.net/2014/08/chat-harry-bytecoin-anonymous-egalitarian-cryptocoin/

Well, nice to know that apple isn't lost.
The time will show us if the devs are write in their view on future. IMHO, they think right

Well, BCN needs gui miner/wallet. So there are people who are waiting for this implementation as it also would attract a lot attention from other users

GPU Mining in Minergate.com Miner

Hello everybody!

Now GPU mining is available in Minergate  miner.

Keep in mind that it is a beta version. It works with Nvidia and CUDA GPU on Windows only.

Download miner here

https://minergate.com/download/win-gpu-beta
https://minergate.com/download/win32-gpu-beta

Enjoy! Any feedback is welcome:)

It works (BCN/FCN) on my I5-K2500 and EVGA 570, but I think that I will get more h/s with cpuminer-wolf 05/30/2014 and ccminer GPU.

Probably you'll higher hash rate with CPU miner wolf and GPU Miner CC

+1
I would like to get longer quiz but I'd like to thank Wannest for making this one quiz.
Thanks to Wannest and other active members of BCN community this thread is alive and up to date with all the news

I am curious how much money does Monero developers spend to get XMR to the 2nd place at hitbtc?

Why are you interested? IMO it's a sign that XMR devs aren't sure in XMR community and that's why they spend money to promote coin.

That's not a news. Still, thanks for the link, didn't know they use private Tor anymore.

My advice, don't use the word ''never'' as no one know what will happen in future.
Bitcoin at the beginning cost nothing and there were a few people who believe that the situation will change.
In a couple of years BTC price has soared almost to the moon.

ohh Please dont compare BTC with Bytecoin and also check the total supply of BCN, it is impossible to reach 1$ .

I dont think you knew or expected Bitcoin price to go up.

That's what I was talking about. No one expected Bitcoin to go to $600 and higher.
As you remember there was a time when one guy ordered pizza for 10 000 bitcoin. A year ago the price of BTC go up and so pizza costed him thousands dollars.

Wow, pizza for 10 000 btc?!  Shocked that pizza ought to taste  like ambrosia!  Smiley

It was lazslo who sent 10k BTC to jercos for ordering pizza. It was four years ago. It's like a legend but it's true

Indeed, it's time to stop disputing, every body has their own view on BCN and if there is people who'd like to mine it, why not?

BTH, I mine Moneta Verde and think it is great coin. Better than Fantom.  Grin

With what coin you mine Moneta Verde?

Yes. I'm also interested how smart people estimate the situation.

To my mind today and in the nearest future it is reasonable to mine coins that are
1. Easy to mine
2. Have promising future

Right now I mine BCN and Quazar (33 % and 67 % of my computing power).
I had to sell all my ASICs for BTC, so I don’t mine them anymore obviously.

And I invest some BTC to new coins, I will not advertise them.

It is also clear that most of them will die, but if at least one succeeds, I gain huge profit.

The purpose of investment is good balance between mining and buying.

Agree! Bitcoin has a promising future and the only liquid coin but it is too difficult to mine, better to buy it on exchange.
BCN, meanwhile, is easy to mine and the protocol is much more complicated so it's more anonymous than BTC.

Did trolls take a break?  Cheesy

It looks like there's no money to pay for darkota  Cheesy

I would think own a bit of both.

Good decision. In case you don't want to loose your money its better to diversify your investments, so it's good decision to invest in different coins.

What the hell happened to this thread??!!! Shocked

I just read the last few pages and would also like to know what's happened here! Not to use a soundbyte but really guys, what are you hoping to achieve with all this? Surely making peace not war is preferable to bashing - what will that do for any coin's success or the community image? Both are vitally important, I'm sure you wouldn't disagree there.

Peace, brother. IMO the best way to understand what coin is better is to wait a year or two and see what has happened to both.

Try a smaller amount
I tried 500.000  even only 10.000. I will wait eg. 2 days and then I will try it again.
sometimes I can do almost a million other days, 10k.

I dunno why but sometimes I think that they use some kind of limiter that you couldn't transfer a large amount of money.

no-ice-please
FYI I am the one who is responsible for BCN Community Website, not Harry Ullman.

DStrange, if you don't mind, some questions, I have an open mind.

1) When did you personally first become aware of bytecoin bcn?

2) Do you personally know any of the people who mined it during its secret phase?

Sorry for the delay in answering you. I haven't seen your post earlier.
1) March. This year. I was looking for BTE mining pool and found BCN website occasionally.
2) Yes, I do. But I haven't known them before I became interested in BCN.

In addition to the second question - is he/she are one of the users who've written here?
