In addition to better privacy as mentioned above, running your own node also means you don't have to trust a third party. You can validate all blocks yourself, and you can verify every transaction you send or receive yourself. Any non-node wallet must connect to someone else's node, and trust that they are honestly verifying transactions and sending you the correct information.
Another feature you will get is a better manipulation for your coins, you can build your own transactions selecting the inputs you want to choose and spend to multiple addys on the same transaction.
True, but this isn't unique to Bitcoin Core by any means. Most good lightweight/SPV desktop wallets allow coin control and send-to-many.Thank you very much, I will try to create my own node. I hope this helps

I want to say that this article should be read by everyone who is now afraid and skeptical of bitcoin.
Crypto climate in 2013? It was awful. Then there were a lot of scammers and all they wanted was to get your money. Now everyone knows about cryptocurrency and I think this literacy will allow us to make it even more secure.

I have not seen your channel on YouTube, but if you have already started with forums and social.perhaps this is a big step in your development. With the development of your business plan, it will be clear whether you need a conclusion that you will not need an ICO at all because it might cost you more (and not just money but other resources) than you can profit from it

I'm a relatively new to cryptocurrencies and having a few problems.
Mining would go fine on ypool a few years back, but since it's down I have had no success mining on other pools.
All the xptminers are confusing in that their build instructions say to git clone a different xptminer, in essence I don't really see the difference between the miner programs.
for instance the getting-started page on ublock.it tells you to get the source code at https://github.com/dave-andersen/fastrie, while the build instructions for the miner on that page tell me to get https://github.com/clintar/xptMiner.
Further following the instructions causes git to stop working because of the newer libgmp which libhogweed automatically makes use of, forcing you to delete the library libgmp.so.10 manually since you need git later on in the instructions.
Apparently deleting these libraries didn't matter since the xptminer succesfully built anyway without them.
Building the actual git repo itself while somewhat ignoring the wrong build instructions gives me an error.
I honestly don't know where to go from here. The currency itself is cool, but the documentation is absolutely horrible.
Using Ubuntu 16 to build, both stratum and master branches, I don't know what's causing my building to fail after following all instructions.

Is it just me or is ypool not working?
I use the following command to mine, it shows up as "connected" on ypool, but apparently no shares have been coming through for more than a week.
Personally i'd rather start mining by myself if i knew how. Really disliking how ypool doesn't even use HTTPS for its pool and wallet services.
Anyone have the same problem?
