Is there any news on when/if the Average Cost (AVCO) method of calculation will be available on Cointracking. This was promised to be done in November 2017.  A recent post on 17 April 2018 said 3 weeks from then, which would give early May.  I'm hoping to start on last year's tax soon and don't want to start looking elsewhere, as I really like Cointracking.

Hello msy2008,

TreasureQuarry's Infinitecoin pool is currently unavailable - people stopped using it quite some time ago when the Infinitecoin network's block rewards dropped, so I stopped the Infinitecoin pool from running without users to conserve server resources for use on the other pools like Litecoin and Dash.  If there was enough interest I could possibly consider getting the Infinitecoin back up and running in the future.

Sorry for the delay in replying, nl3ehv.nl.  Where are you seeing the "lost contact" message?  The Litecoin p2pool is fully alive at TreasureQuarry.

The "Stratum requested work restart" messages are normal.  P2Pool has its own sharechain and awards a share every 15 seconds to someone in the Litecoin p2pool network which TreasureQuarry is a part of.  As a result you'll see a lot of these restart messages.

Being realistic, with the hashrate you've mentioned you're unlikely to manage to solve any shares. It's best to look into getting a Scrypt ASIC miner for Litecoin mining these days.

No problem - p2pool can be a bit confusing sometimes and often you need to look over longish periods of continuous mining to get a good average.

Good to hear it's going well.

Which is your mining address, martyshmoo, and which are the 2 others you are comparing with?

Sorry for the delay in replying, martyshmoo. You haven't mentioned which other nodes you were talking about on the day of your post, but it's possible that you may have viewed other nodes on a different Dash p2pool network.  You can usually identify this by looking at the "Pool Rate" which you can see on the left hand side of http://dash.treasurequarry.com:7903/static/ about halfway down the page.  Nodes on the same p2pool network will show the same Pool Rate. If a different Pool Rate is shown then it's a different p2pool network.  There can be any number of p2pool networks for a particular coin, all trying to solve the next block in the same blockchain.

The Dash p2pool network that TreasureQuarry is part of has been finding blocks - you can see those fund by visiting http://dash.treasurequarry.com:7903/static/ and clicking the "Last Blocks" tab. Anyone who has been hashing enough to have found shares during the PPLNS period will have had payouts.

Hello Dario and the great Cointracking team!

Can I ask if the update to add the Average Cost (AVCO) method of calculating capital gains to the Cointacking site is still on schedule to be available this month and maybe whether you can give an idea of roughly when?

Thanks for a brilliant service in the Cointracking site.

The pool has now been updated to the latest newly released version of Dash, dashd 0.12.2.1 with its super new improvements including increased transaction capability.

The p2pool software itself has also been updated to be compatible with this latest version of Dash.

Remember to update your wallet on your local computer folks, as advised by UdjinM6 at https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/version-12-2-release.17807/s

Happy mining!

Can I add my voice to the request for average-cost-basis to be an option.  From what I've been reading this seems to be the preferred method sometimes or in some countries.

Just switched OS's and put this coin on a CentOS Linux machine. Cent seems to come with a pretty restrictive firewall out of the box. What ports do I need to both forward from my router and open on the CentOS firewall to make the coin get more than 8 connections ?

Like with BTC I had to open / forward port 8333, Ty.

Litecoin uses port 9333.

You may also want to add the following to your litecoin.conf, using 30 as an example but you can use whatever number you prefer:
Code:
maxconnections=30

What is happening to cryptocurrency as a whole is similar to the beginning of the internet.  All the altcoins are like the dot com companies you can invest in.  I figure 2017 for cryptos is where we were in 1997 for the internet.  There will be market corrections but the overall cryptocurrency hype is just getting started.

If infinitecoin is going to move forward, it will need someone to copy over the litecoin upgrades which is basically what the developers where doing.  Infinitecoin could then potentially get the planned lightning transactions and atomic swaps feature.  With atomic swaps we could swap infinitecoin to and from bitcoin/litecoin without having to rely on an exchange.  Merge mining with litecoin and maybe having masternodes could help also.
Yes to all of this. If merge mining isn't possible, I think IFC should consider changing from Proof of Work to a Proof of Stake similar to Cachecoin's to secure the network, as mining hashrate is now low with the small mining rewards.

Is there any way to try this without having to install telegram, in fact without having to install anything if possible?  After reading https://securelist.com/blog/research/76558/the-first-cryptor-to-exploit-telegram/   and other places mentioning Telegram's history of lax security I'm not sure I trust Telegram or anything using it.

Let's look into the issue you mentioned first. To quote the article,
Quote
it contacts the threat actors using the publicly available Telegram Bot API and operates as a Telegram bot, using the public API to communicate with its creators.
it means that it's not about Telegram security; the malware in question just uses Telegram to communicate with its operators by publicly available means (that is API created by Telegram for bots). The Telegram account of victim of this malware won't be compromised by it either.

If you don't want to install anything, you can use the web version of Telegram, besides CryptoPing doesn't ask for any personal information. Meanwhile we're working on adding the bot to more platforms.

Thanks for clarifying that. I had misread/misunderstood that page and thought that the particular trojan mentioned there used Telegram to spread.

However the Merkle seems to indicate that there's something else called RATAttack where...
Quote
The assailants first need to create their own proprietary telegram bot, which is relatively easy. The token generated by this bot needs to be edited into the RAT’s config file. Once someone interfaces with the bot, they will receive the RATAttack payload.

https://themerkle.com/open-source-remote-access-trojan-targets-telegram-users/

Good to hear you're working on more platforms.

I probably joined the wrong thread as I've nothing against the genuine mentally retarded or those with cerebral palsy, in fact many are absolutely lovely people who add a lot of positivity to the world. My main argument is against violent and nasty people.  Hitler himself would come under that heading.

There used to be a dog licence in the UK.

Should be a parenting licence. There are so many nasty yobs, violent criminal or semi-criminal types and plain awful people having kids, often just to get more benefit money that the UK's population is getting worse and worse.  The benefits system effectively pays people to breed.  People with criminal records toward people or property, and violent tendencies should be banned from breeding. or at least fined, but no, off they go having multiple kids who learn their parents violent and nasty ways and multiply the problem.  And all the time extra child benefit money is thrown the way of the irresponsible parents encouraging them to create these problem offspring.

Survival of the least fit.
