Re: Controlling Bitcoin

I don't think it's technically possible. For the moment, at least. The government might get some kind of a tool to do so, but as far as I understand, they don't have a way to do so directly.  Cool

Re: To HODL or not, this is the question

The question isn't to HODL or not; the question is what to HODL, and what not. If we are talking about BTC or ETH, the answer is obvious: yes, HODL and as looooong as it takes to win. Speaking of alts, I don't know... It's a matter of taste. I, for one wouldn't hodl'em under the market like this.

Re: Why you should stay off from market prediction
by

on 22/08/2018, 09:28:23 UTC
I once had this idea that market prediction is a part of manipulation. The problem with manipulation is that it is never obvious, that's why I haven't listened to market predictions for quite a while now. Ironically, as it might seem, it helps me stay concentrated and aware of what is really going on around here and prevents me from making panic decisions. Cool

Staying calm while the market plummets takes a special kind of person, doesn't it? Sometimes I think it'd be great if they taught you how to remain calm even at school because this is the kind of behavior you cannot learn easily.
I never panic and there's a simple reason for that: I don't keep all the eggs in one basket Cool
As simple as that.

Happy hodling!

Re: Why choose LONG-TERM TRADING?
by

on 21/08/2018, 23:51:45 UTC
Actually long term trading/ holding is good for people who does not know how to trade.

Just like investing they can just sell it when they think the profit is enough.

Also with this strategy you do not need to worry about price dips/crash because history shows that Bitcoin/stable coins will rise in the future.

What an interesting point! It never occurred to me.
Thanks for letting us know!  Wink

Re: How to get rid of emotions when trading
by
Troubleshoot
on 21/08/2018, 23:42:40 UTC
Our brain is hardwired to go into a fight or flight mode under stress, resulting in emotional responses like greed (taking too large risks), anger, fear (panic-closing) or fear of missing out. While this is a good thing when fighting lions in the savannah, it is a horrible thing when trading, and you need to make smart decisions and keep to your plan to keep making profits.
This topic will focus on how to get rid of emotions while trading, or at least make the best decisions which are not based on emotional responses of our ape brain. So how can we achieve that?

1 with good preparation
2 with checklists
3 with process orientation
4 with active emotional detachment

Good preparation:
If you watch a Football game or a Boxing match usually the team or player wins that has done the better preparation. The same goes with trading. Accumulate knowledge about the subjects of trading as much as possible. Start with small amounts and small leverages until you really know what you are doing. Be consistent, create good habits early on and keep them up. Make sure that you are mentally fit, live healthy, eat well, sleep enough and regularly, and exercise enough. Have a schedule. Track your preparation, track your results and analyse them. What were mistakes you could avoid in the future?

Checklists:
When things go down and away, it is always good to have a checklist. For example: surgeons usually have checklists that prevent them to go off the rails while performing a complicated procedure. Their checklists makes it absolutely clear in which order they need to perform what step, which frees up mental brain power for the actual process. So from your past make checklists what made your trades profitable and focus on those kind of trades that have done well in your past.

Process Orientation:
With the checklist, we should be able to make good trades more often than not. All we need to do now is focus our metal brain power on the process and not on the outcome. As we have built enough expertise and a checklist that we follow, we focus on rules and our discipline, not on the outcome of a single trade, because as we all know one trade can always be good or bad, independent of how well it was thought out.

Active emotional detachment:
There is something called Tilt in Poker. Some players will actively try to insult players after bad beats to make the go tilt, or "emotional". This will result in very bad decision making. Maybe you remember Zinedine Zidane in his very last World Cup Game, head butting the italian player and getting sent of the pitch with a red card. The worst possible outcome. TILT.
If you still feel like you get emotional about trades, there are a few things you can do: Lowering your margins, lowering your leverage, take a break, breathing exercises, watch your favorite series or listen to music. Get a little distance to your trades, before continuing. NEVER trade on TILT.

How are you dealing with your emotions? Anything to add or to take away from this?

Exercise, eating well, and yoga work best for me. Otherwise, your list looks quite exhaustive. Can't add anything Wink

Re: Do you think that the price is fully manipulated?

I don't think it's fully manipulated, but I'm almost sure whales should take part in certain manipulation, of course, IMO.
Agree I also think so, I don't think that prices are forever or fully manipulated by the whales, maybe at some time the price is normal,
and I think manipulation is not an easy thing especially with a very large marketcap like in bitcoin market, of course the whales will have difficulty manipulating..

I'm with you, guys. I don't think the whales are capable of manipulating the entire market either. But I think they are trying hard and even might be through this forum by having their slaves type misleading posts to scare traders/hodlers off BTC.

I'm not easily discouraged, so I'm ready to hodl however long it might take because I have other sources of income, so I know hodling isn't good for everyone, but as soon as you find an alternative source of income, you will stay calm and relaxed like a boa that has just had its dinner  Cool

stock market is not safe either. if you have been in the market for some time, people are also losing money in stock market, its almost the same thing here in crypto you have to check the news and what is going on to the development of the project and to the team as well. if something happen to them or to the project the prices drops just as in the stock market.

That's right. The history of stock market supports what you say. It has never been and will never be a safe place. The difference seems to be in details.

Personally, I do feel it is theft, I never consented to any taxation. I feel that this video helps explain the video quite well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGMQZEIXBMs

Your video made me think a little different. Let me share my ideas on the subject a little later, I need some time to get my thoughts together...
But thanks for sharing!

Re: What are the reasons you prefer investment in Bitcoin over other Cryptos?

I believe investments in Cryptos are the priority for beginners. But most people like Bitcoin since it’s obvious, so are you like that? And if so then what’s the reason for your investment? My reason is that the potential is huge in this as compared to some others, but I do know that higher amount is required to gain more.

Here are some reasons by experts, and I agree most of these but like to see how many of you guys agree with. https://www.asiacryptotoday.com/reasons-you-should-invest-in-bitcoin/

I agree with the author, especially in terms of this: "...bitcoin will be the reserve currency of the Internet..."
