It took them 5 days for them to process my final withdrawal of about .03 BTC, very risky at this point, personally I wouldn't deposit any BTC on their site again. BEWARE!

I found another 30gh miner with a raspberry pi included for short money. So I'm contemplating getting that & the rig would be total 90GH+/- running thru the Rasp pi, power consumption is my primary concern, so if I could connect it to a solar panel with dc to ac power inverter that covered the total power demand, then I might actually see some roi at some point because of little to no power costs.

no, power supply is a corsair cx430, I still haven't even tried to set it up, I'm still gun shy at this point, watching youtube videos, I may want to use a raspberry pi version b, so as not to risk destroying my everyday pc

Hard to believe something selling for $1299US a little over a year ago is a paperweight but when I bought it I called it a doorstop, lol. Going to try some solo mining I guess or SHA-256 alt coin with lower difficulty. I do pay for electric svc so by the kw hour it probably not going to make anything unless I can run it with a small solar panel as a lottery ticket machine. Thanks for the heads up hdmediaservices

Product aka Butterfly Labs 60GH single I believe, seems like an okay deal for what I paid but honestly I'm so green I'm not sure how to start. All I've got is the unit, power supply & usb cable. No software or instructions were available

Butterfly Labs SGL600G miner
by

on 17/01/2015, 22:50:41 UTC
I'm a total mining noob but I just picked up a Butterfly Labs SGL600G miner off of craigslist for $80US(was $1299 new), it also has a power supply. When I bot it, I saw it working for the kid who owned it. I know with btc being so low right now @$200ish per btc that I'm probably not going to get roi on this even for the $80 I spent, but I bought it to learn on & have fun with my sons as a crypto hobbyist. Anyone with any advice how to set it up or what altcoins or pools I could mine on. I always thought peercoin was kind of cool, and I love BTC but any ideas out there? Thanks & I greatly appreciate any help or responses.

I wouldn't put 1 satoshi into incryptex trading platform. I remember a rather slick & nice looking eac website with great graphics and positive world message about all the good it was going to do. where is EAC now? that undying commitment and massive premine seemed to work out great for those who bought in anywhere below 5 satoshi. 500 years of banking, Bullshit! "As an aside, it is quite humorous to me that Auroracoin has a $23+ MILLION dollar market capitalization, while Earthcoin sits only at less than $100K. Now you see the copycats like SpainCoin, GreeceCoin, SiliconValleyCoin, Etc. hurrying to cash in on the 'newest fad' coin to get pumped & dumped by the Devs. Eventually the sheeple will get tired of playing the (suckers) game, and look for value, and a coin that has stood the test of time, and the trial by fire. "

My thoughts:

Not that long ago, in January of 2014 I believe, the market cap for EAC was a smidge under $1 MIL, in fact, I specifically remember people posting about it. Now as I look at coinmarketcapdotcom it states EAC is at 97K??? Where is the 900 grand, did that all disappear somehow? Can someone explain that to me like a child? How does a coin lose $900,000 in value? Was that $$$ paid in and then was all taken out. Maybe I'm confused about how the market cap works but all I can think is WTF? Makes no sense to me, who has all that money that was put into the earthcoins?

I certainly appreciate all the efforts of the devs and other forum members that have developed websites & services, products around the coin but if all the coins combined right now are only worth 97 grand, somebody has that money and has taken it from the community that has built value into eac??? Confused

It's great to see the new team motivated and making progress. I've had very mixed feelings about EAC as it was my first alt. Still holding what I have. Got totally killed on maxcoin to the point where I'm done putting any more money into cryptos for a while, but good luck moving forward and I hope eac becomes big success.

This is John, the original dev of Earthcoin. Since there are too many wrong rumors about me. I feel that I need to post something to let you know the facts.

I created Earthcoin back in December. To better handle the communications with community, I found Norb. With whom we launched the coin together. Norb is good at graphics, and his professional graphics certainly helped Earthcoin. He later found Wes and Zark to help him on the communications side, while I was handling all the code/tech issues and new releases. We had a good partnership but unfortunately the communications between us was always an issue. We had a very different view on what is the "teamwork". Anyway I am not going to details, but at some points this was beyond the limit, and sadly I decided to quit the team.

Now on the premine. There was a 270 mil EACs premine. Of which 70 mils are spent at various giveaways and bounties (see OP for a list of giveaways, which do not include all the giveaways, many are not in the list). I handled main giveaway thread where giveaways were distributed to close to 1000 users, small giveaways are done by community members where we handed off lump sums. The remaining 200M Norb and I each took 100M. I'll leave Norb to disclose whereabouts of his 100M. For me, I contributed 26 mils to the bounty fund we created in the team (to encourage helps for EAC), including the 10 mils granted to Wes. I also spent various amount to charities, support games/faucets etc. This left about 65 mil for myself. I am not going to disclose my wallet address, or say what I will do with the coins. All I can say is that I still hold most of them. The recent down turn is clearly a confidence issue, the amount being dumped is much more than 65 mils (remember the outstanding coins are about 1.8 billions now).

With the new team in place, I wish the Earthcoin will go back to the right track, and I wish Earthcoin the best.

PS, Norb, please change password for earthcoin account, it's still the one I set originally.

It's a miracle!  Grin John the reclusive Chinese Devs written English has really become quite eloquent & candid, I'm amazed.  Roll Eyes Glad you're back though, must be hard to retire off so few btc.

Hahaha, you guys are pathetic.  If someone can't hold your hand for three seconds you become rabid.  I have no patience or empathy for that.

As for John I think it would be a good idea to hear what he has to say.  He is one hell of a coder and programmer and has a great passion for the community.  Maybe someone else other than us can have a convo with him, but he has gone silent on the Skype chat and has become Satoshi now. Wink

Oh and regarding the article, of course it was put into proper English!  Real investigative skills there - you guys make me howl!! Haahah

team dev stoped PR ?? eac coin = shjtcoin

If you dudes were not so shady from the beginning, no one would even have a concern. I appreciate and thank you Wes, that you & Norb or whoever did the chat and showed your coins, etc. Your coming forward can only help at this point. Certainly you see there have been many inconsistencies (lies) in what was being said about what was going on behind the scenes? Frankly, losing $60 isn't the end of the world for me. It's a lesson well learned in how to tell the premier cryptos from the con job coins. I should of done my homework, that's on me. There's a good community around EAC thanks to Zark, Centurion, 24kilo, and a few others. I hope eac survives, but your insulting me for asking questions speaks volumes there, Mr. Incryptex.

John: I am a software architect for a fortune 500.

I have been involved in software development for 30 years.

Naturally, with my love for technology, numbers, algos, problem solving, etc. I was attracted to the bitcoin tech rather early and have been going down this rabbit hole ever since.

After exploring the vast codebase and learning how the tech worked, I began to clone some of the codes and created a new flavor of coins.

I implemented an algorithm that creates random bonus blocks as an idea for one of them, which turned out to be quite successful and is used in another popular coin.

The idea of Earthcoin came to me as I wanted to create something that would have fast adoption and then actual use – vs the typical coin that most try to hoard for profit only.

So we implemented features such as the period of 1 year and coin payout based on the seasons. We also added regular two-weeks and 1 month bonus blocks to add fun and constant marketing opportunities to the miners. I was very lucky to meet Norb, he is a wonderful media pro and designer who has a great vision for our crypto coin.

Something about the chat didn't sit right with me, I remembered the article you guys kept promoting through Bitcoin PR Buzz, it's copy/pasted above

In the chat you (earthcoin aka CryptoBoomer & Wesley (wesandeac) stated basically John bailed with 1/2 the premine and that he (John)didn't want to be identified or transparent about anything. He's also wanted to be like a "satoshi nakamato" You guys said it was very difficult to communicate with him because he was young & Chinese. Yeah, that sounds just like the guy above, he no speaky the English, huh? What did you do, write his bio and interview answers for him then? This smells like another shit sandwich lie, you know what? I'm not choking down another bite, too many inconsistencies and retracts and shady/sketch dudes. I feel like Columbo of the crypto but sniffing out the lies is too easy. I really like this coin, but I may need to peace out to another coin that I can really trust & put my efforts & fiat/btc in. Maybe I'll get a bounty for writing or research or rewarded somehow too.

Since I don't think anyone pasted the transcript of the IRC meetup here yet. Here it is http://pastebin.com/75TQMJJC (thanks to "virtuals" ON IRC).

thanks for posting the transcript Xanather, some of the best ideas to come out of what I read there are:

however you have to find exclusivity to create a buy side demand for EAC.  Like you "can't do this" unless you have EAC....

I would sharpen the earthcoin strategy of being a "human friendly cryptocoin"

To me, from a practical standpoint, the quick transactions are a HUGE marketing point. This coin could be used at brick and mortar merchants without third parties.

Kind of tired now but to sum up,

EAC needs to be exclusive in that it can be used for something of value that everyone needs/wants but has to buy/mine/gift/beg/etc. EAC to get

EAC needs to be easy to use, understandable and user friendly to total noobs, skilled crypto peeps, & joe 6 pack

EAC needs to be adopted by merchants because of it's fast speed, easy conversion to btc or fiat.

There's much more from the chat that can be extracted and repackaged in order to form better action plan. Remember, human beings only do things for two reasons, for pleasure or to avoid pain. Let's get busy creating pleasure and buy side momentum so that the pain doesn't happen, further drop in value, dead coin, lost money

25 sat. Heading to 1 sat tomorrow.

"Earthcoin" Is John Carr.

John Carr and his buddies from PhenixEx, who stole the exchange accounts money along with a Phenixcoin premine dump at the same time. We're fucked.

Sister coins.

Not sure of the truth of this but,
WTF is wrong with these people? Don't they realize that once word gets out in the social networks or mainstream media about the scamming, no one is going to put any more money into these alt coins? I do feel like a sucker for buying into the "message" of this coin. Maybe EAC will survive because of the great work ethic of the community like centurion & cryptozark, maybe it won't. What a load of bullshit though, maybe if some people show up at their houses with a hammer these fucking scammers will get the hint that you don't go around fucking the little guy and get away with it. It only takes making an example of one pos scammer to get the point across. I'm amazed Karpeles isn't in a hole somewhere yet. Not worth the effort or jail time over a few bucks imo, but I guarantee some nut job will not take it lying down and you'll see this free for all come to an end when someone gets wacked.
