Re: Hot 3060ti

you should concern the fan-noise/power-consumption a little more. I was having some 1080tis blower type running stably at ~80C @60% fan speed.

I'd start to worry if that gets to 70°C, that's the kind of hot numbers you should be seeing on AMD cards not Nvidia, if you don't like this 63 then change the thermal pad and reapply thermal paste.

Lol 70°C is not hot and you can see it on all GPU - AMD and Nvidia - don´t spread false information and when you have not enough knowledge - shut up. This is so stupid AMD vs. Nvidia - Nvidia vs. AMD vs. Intel vs. yourself vs. a frog.

My 6600xt run at 25% fan at 55°C dual mining - my RTX3070 need 60% fan for 65°C dual mining - some of my old nvidia 1050ti´s running fanless while mining, one of my RTX 2060 running at 75°C @ 80% fan and so on. I cannot see that one manufacturer is better than the other.

30% profit in a few clicks, ETC holders who also have Poloniex account!

Posted it earlier in the main discussion but few people read it. Hopefully this can help if you have Poloniex account (and hold ETC somewhere else then ZERO risk).

Probably due to the ETC wallet maintenance , the ETC price is 35$ right now in Poloniex, while it's $46 in Kraken and most other exchanges. Act fast and you know what to do.

ETC holders who also have Poloniex account, ETC is listed $33 at Poloniex!

I just found this and would like to share with your guys, I do learn a lot here in bitcoin forum and make some $ in mining.

If you have some ETC elsewhere and also have a Poloniex account, please act fast and this could be ZERO risk and you might make 30% profit quickly.

Probably due to the ETC wallet maintenance , the ETC price is listed just 33$ right now in Poloniex. You can sell ETC elsewhere at $4x, and quickly transfer the fund to Poloniex for the much cheaper ETC.

Be fast and good luck!

Re: Ways to make card last longer

Rule of thumb, I have been mining for almost 4 years with 120 plus cards. Lot`s of expensive lessons learnt!

1. Power supply, never push your power supply to it`s limit. Sweet spot is around 60% utilization.
2. Dust is a card killer, make sure you maintain dust as well as you can
3. Temperatures, place your rigs in a well ventilated room. Try remove the heat generated by the cards (Extractor fan).
4. Don`t be an IDIOT and OC your cards to the max. Loads of people are chasing hashrate instead of finding a sweet spot.. pushing a card to just under the point where it crashes is really idiotic. Your card might cope for a couple of months but it will die on you after a while.

Cheers

Totally agree and don't push the card too hard. A little loss in performance is fine and running 7x24 trouble-free could be more important.

Played with ~10 1080Ti in past years, either founder's edition or Auros. It's a surprise that founder's edition seemed more stable in a mild OC with limited TDP/fan-speed, but + 10 degrees hotter (still under 80C).

Find a new coin to mine, many top altcoins already have high mining difficulty, use google search to find fresh coins and make sure you do research first to avoid pump and dump coins

hit or miss, but not bad to power up the rig now. Maybe try a few different these coins and simply hold all.

Your going to need a 20k bitcoin in order to get $2 dollars per gpu per day and I would consider this fair work for fair pay from a small line of work business accounting perspective.

In order to get party time $5 dollars a day per gpu like the good ole days you will need a 60k-100k+ btc price.  So don't expect party time anytime this year.  Give it 2-3 years.

Currently the 1080ti gets $1.3 USD per day with ~$0.5 power cost, used card in warranty costs $500~600 on ebay. Not that bad if you still plays some games.

Also very interested.

I believe ROI is the most important factor in general. People rush in when ROI<6 months (GPUs), consider the possible resale value of GPUs, shorter ROI might be anticipated for your miner.

If you continue to support it and make it possible to be adapted to diff algorithms, that will be a huge plus.

this MB is listed as ATX, but actually quite smaller than those standard ATX in my opinion, also build quality is so so.

i have the same MB, works quite well with two cards only. Limited bio options.

Check old posts you should be able to find some MBs in similar price range.

using your integrated miner for a while, thanks a lot.

Any plan to replace EWBF 0.33b by 0.34b, I believe it's slightly faster. Grin

any idea what wattage your 1080ti is using @ that 80% tdp ? whats up with the neoscrypt speed 1080ti slower than a 1070 @70 tdp?

all my speeds are from a G1 Gaming 1070 @70%tdp (125watt) +55core +596mem

the default TDP for FE is 250W. After market cards that don't carry the same PCB design could be higher.

I've just tried last night with two 1080TI Gigbyte Gaming X, on skein and got around 0.008 btc for 24 hours with 1 hour - 2 hour down time

you should have made 0.01, on yiimp it say 500k satoshi a day with a 1o80ti, maybe you are using the slower miner? you need the sib version of alexis that can hash at 1giga with a 1080ti

I've just tried last night with two 1080TI Gigbyte Gaming X, on skein and got around 0.08 btc for 24 hours with 1 hour - 2 hour down time

I think you mean 0.008 BTC?  0.08 BTC = 202€

Yes u r right typo my mistake Smiley
I've just tried last night with two 1080TI Gigbyte Gaming X, on skein and got around 0.08 btc for 24 hours with 1 hour - 2 hour down time

What miner are you using? Are you doing DGB? How are you doing a direct to BTC mine?

(sorry, I'm a n00b, a little guidance would be greatly appreciated)

I'm running on skein with zpool, they are like nicehash they convert to BTC directly.

don't mien on zpool yiimp is betetr zpool is stealing 20% earning, you should make 0.01 with two 1080ti

thanks for the reply, the 0.002 difference is cause i had downtime as the pool and miner doesn't seem stable, i'll give yiimp a try, thanks a lot Smiley i'm using nemominer any better out there ?

What about your "downtime", my miner seems randomly stop 1~2 times in past few days, tried to limit the TDP a little more but still the same.

Need Help! rig works with any miners except for ccminer?
by
U253
on 09/06/2017, 03:29:58 UTC
Hi, all

I am wondering whether anyone could kindly help with this.

I have three rigs running while one of them is never able to work with any algorithms in ccminer (either stand alone ccminer or that integrated in Nicehash). It's really wired and I could get benchmark in nichhash but always failed to start mining with ccminer.

No problem at all with EWBF miner (zcash) or Claymore ETH miner.

Specifications:
CPU: I5 6500
MB: Asrock H170
GPU: 2 * 1080 Ti

I have tried to modify bios setting (change PCIE to Gen1 or Gen2, et al), or just plug one GPU on this rig, but never got the ccminer working.

many many thanks for any feedback.

Aorus only performs a little little faster, but much cooler/quieter though. Go EVGA FE and save some $.

Yeah a lot depends on price.  I got the 1 aorus  719 and tax at newegg = 780  I have been running it since early april  it earns back nicely.

But I got those msi aero's under 600  they are good and 183 usd is a big price difference.

To be fair if I used the ebay sale for an aorus it would have been 780 - 57 in ebucks or 723

still 723 vs 597 it was an easy choice to get the msi..

also it is summer I get heat capped  so I am gentle on my cards  65-73% tdp   keeps stuff cool and saves power.

So the aorus  pushed has a bigger  tdp.

I guess I am saying  your setup matters a lot.  I don't see me running 20 aorus 1080 ti's this winter.

But 20  msi aero and Founder cards this winter look possible to me
I will not be able to resell my cards in future it's not cheap in my country, planning to keep them until they are either dead or mining not worth it anymore.
I need a final decision and there are two main important points :
Tempreture is important since it goes up to 45C here, air conditioner is on all the time.
Electricity almost free no need to lower wattage.

So it's either
GIGABYTE AORUS
EVGA FE

Please advice
Thank you

I RMAed evga once, totally it took 7~8 business day to get it back. If you choose advanced RMA (you pay for a new card right away and get $ back later), I guess they could send it out the next day after RMA is approved.

That's a typo

Look on newegg you will see the 1708 is the core number not the memory number.

Look the asus strix is a good card.

But it is costly.

I am getting Msi aero's as low as 590 usd so why pay over 779 plus tax at newegg or Amazon.
Cheapest MSI is $699 not sure where you get yours from, i think i will go with 2x EVGA FE , $1400 no taxes is a good deal.

I like Evga  good rma policy  .

agreed and I have 5 EVGA FE. Earlier RMA a 1070 and EVGA processed it very smoothly.

Also let you know Gigabyte provides 4 years warranty for Aorus cards, could be a plus for reselling. And I heard Gigabyte improved its RMA service greatly recently.

For those who have a good background knowldge about Nvidia gtx cards when it comes to Mining, please vote and give us your comment.
Any difference in hash rate? Fan speed/tempreture ?

Planning to buy 2x gtxs but can't decide which one of them is worth it.

if you don't mind the noise, go with FE and save some $

I have 6 FE + 2 Gigabyte Xtreme. If you push FE to 75%Fan, it's just slightly hotter (a few degrees +) and almost the same performance as the Gigabyte Xtreme. The Gigabyte fan is really really quiet but not worth the extra $ just for mining.
