Is there a kind of application like Twitter based on the blockchain?
I think the blockchain would be suitable for such an app. Steemit and Qora have shown that a decentralized blog system works well with the blockchain. So why not a decentralized messaging app, too.
At Status we're building a fully decentralized blockchain based messenger app. It's not really Twitter, but more like WeChat, or Telegram with DApps and transactions/Wallet.

Status is a free (libre) and open source mobile client targeting Android & iOS built, entirely on Ethereum technologies.
Thanks to the new protocols Ethereum has introduced, there's a whole new ecosystem of applications being developed that are completely decentralised (also known as DApps), and Status aims to provide a user interface to access them. These decentralized applications remove the need for middlemen and centralised servers, providing a clear path forward towards an internet where users get to own their own data, and an economy built on permissionless, open protocols.
It is our belief that messengers are evolving into a new type of OS, and are becoming gateways to our economies and social lives. Status uses messaging as a platform, and by combining both a messenger and a browser we are building a gateway for everyday smartphone users to begin using DApps, and a simple way for DApp developers to reach new users.
Status runs go-ethereum directly from your mobile device, providing a mobile Ethereum node in your pocket!
wow, but one more messenger isn't it too much of them already? how about integration of transactions in existent messengers?

I think that social-networks are not popular right now, I mean too little chances to gain popularity with "twitter-like" app
Aeternity's first ICO begins on April 3rd and I'm interested in throwing a couple of Ether their way in exchange for AE tokens. 1 ETH will get me 1100 AE, meaning each AE is .045 cents. Is it worth investing in the initial ICO, or should I just wait until the coins hit the market? Thanks!
For some reason, majority believes that robots do trade on their own (doing all analysis, making decisions)...
First of all it is an automation tool! Saying that one trades better by hands is similar to saying that one can hammer a nail better with bare hands (like Chuck Norris in "Way of the Dragon" I assume).
Even if it's just a tool, you need to know how to use it, experienced trader should be experienced with bots too, not only with trading
