Hi All,

Any good pool to recommend?
I have mined using asiapool.trade pool, supposed they pay hourly but i received 0 payment for the past 3 hours. Testing with 2 GPU around 2500kH/s.

Regards,
Eddy

Eddy that pool works fine. I've been receiving payments. Biggest issue I have is getting my AMD to work via HiveOS. Only my Nvidia work with this coin. I can't get SGMiner to work with the AMD's.

There are many guys running their mines now located in outdoor huts using just box fans to move air. There is a a guy on YouTube that lives in central Florida and keeps his running 24/7 outside in his screened porch. Clearly, they are not affected by the humidity! Thankfully where I'm at the average temperature has been around 10F since November. My mining rigs (in my basement) have saved me about $750 in heating costs this winter already.

Anyone making real bank doing the mining should consult a CPA. I know for a fact that they have been receiving many updates on Trump's new tax plan and how to deal with the crypto craziness. S-corp has bene's; take advantage of the 20% deduction in pass-through income, etc. Pay yourself a salary as well to limit your exposure to SS taxes, etc. Again, consult with a CPA to maximize your income. It is not as bad as people here are making it appear. Keep your receipts and itemize your expenses (power, supplies, etc.). Keep that all in mind when buying crap ("can this be considered a business expense?").

Thank you for the post! I was wondering how 220/240V could be measured...

I've just been using my Fluke 323 Clamp Meter via the fuse panel.

I'm getting 29.xx with my Asus RX580's after Anorak.tech bios mod. I'm not even "tweaking" the bios; just downloading already modded ones. Hell, the Sapphire RX570's hit 30.1x Mh/s. Wish I would have bought more. I'm just now getting around to GPU's that have been sitting in Newegg shipping boxes for a month waiting to be opened and modded.

For a MSI ITX 560 Areo 4GB with Hynix memory
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1N9aE4jBraopVhCf299IOMLsRTqgvtIlY

Modded strap I got off a forum, The strat is from 1750 to 2250
I have two of these cards now running at 2200 mem, core -7.5%  Pulls 440H crypto and 16H on Eth.
Stock Voltages and only slightly upped fans.

Anyone try goldenbunip's bios? I have about 12 of these cards en route.

Buy these 240V PDU's. They are brand-new, sealed, and come with a TON of HD-quality powercables (c13/c14). https://www.ebay.com/itm/382243077501

I bought four kits. 20A PDU de-rated to 16A. Each comes with L6-20P main power cables to go to the wall but I bough L6-30P cables instead to fit my plugs. I bolted them to the side rail of my muscle-rack's from Home Depot using the hardware the kits come with (90 degree brackets). I'll upload some photos soon.

Look into installing a Eaton Ultimate whole-house surge protector: http://a.co/iiVm9K5 (super cheap now! $95). Install it properly using a 50-Amp breaker to maximize the full rating of the surge protector. I have yet to install mine as I had to order a quad-tandem breaker to make room for two more slots in my panel.

Get a load balancing router. Hook the router up to at least two independent internet providers. I bought this one "TP-Link TL-R470T+ Load Balance Broadband Wired Router" on eBay for $21 (was brand new in the box too). I have it hooked up to my DSL right now and I'm going to get a LTE router (that uses Verizon) and run a cable to the TL-R470T+ so it will be able to use the LTE if my internet goes down -- which has frequent outages...

Yeah I have one rig with eight RX580's that runs very smooth at 29.x MH/s for ETH. Every once and a while GPU #6 will drop to 25 MH/s for a few minutes then goes back to 29.x MH/s.

Re: 4 x 8gb AMD RX 580 rig - Nice Hash or mining pool?

Wow, that's a bit of a mixed response!  Pretty much matches everything I've read though.  Different things seem to work for different people.

Does anybody know what the current profits are for mining Ethereum with RX 580's?  If so, what's the best way of going about this?

I've just seen on whattomine that Metaverse is the current most profitable RX 580, so that's another option, maybe using DodoPool.  Any advice on this would be welcome too, thanks!

Andy I'm new to this game too; started last month. I have fifteen RX580's and a dozen GTX1060's (only eight of those in-service). I use SmOS (simplemining.net operating system) and mine ETH exclusively with Nanopool. The "real world" numbers are basically this: I am making more money per day than WhatToMine.com says I should be making. I attribute that to Nanapool's setup and my GPU's processing more shares than WhatToMine can estimate. For example, WhatToMine is estimating like $3.67/hr yet I just looked at my proceeds overnight (ETH price has been stable), and over the last 13 hours my mining proceeds have netted me $4.29/hr. That is a 14% difference from estimate to reality. $88/day versus $103/day.

This is crazy. I ordered fifteen (15) cards from Newegg.com for $249.99/ea and that was in December!. The crappy part is how I had to order them in groups of three. Wait 48hrs. Order three more, etc. I did the BIOS mod and I'm getting 29.8 MH/s per card average for the Samsungs, 28.7 Hynix, and 24.66 with the crappy Elpida memory. Thank God that almost all were Samsung!

Re: How do you get Internet to your mining rigs?
by

I ran cat-5 from my hp procurve (already in my basement) to an eight-port switch on my shelving rack. If you're running your operation in your detached garage or an outbuilding and you already have 75-ohm (TV) coax ran to the building, then get a set of these DECA Ethernet to Coax adapters http://a.co/gyipPwP. I have a PoE switch in my detached garage with several HD IP cameras and I've never had any issues since I installed these. I formerly used a WiFi bridge and I would run into throughput issues. The DECA units solved that issue. I suppose you could also use the DECA units for interior runs of 75-ohm coax cable in order to have a "hard wire" solution. I've also read good anecdotes about the adapters that make the network go through the power outlets too.

One would think some chinese engineers could make up some sort of tester for at least the usb cables and the little pci-e to usb chips. I didn't see any IC's on the little pci-e to usb chip thingy so it should be very easy to make a tester for that. The actual cards would be more intensive to test but the cables and chip cards should be easy...

I posted here almost exactly 24hrs ago whining about my M.2_1 not working. Well guess what - after testing each card individually I found the culprit. The issue was yet again a f*cking bad Chinese riser part. Yes, the M.2 cards were 100% fine BUT this time I found a dead Mintcell Ver. 8 riser kit bad. It was the small piece that plugs into the PCI-E and turns it into USB on the motherboard side. I have found three bad pieces like that now! (two Mintcell ver. 7 and now now Mintcell ver. Cool.

My hypothesis that all of these "I can only get four cards work" or "I can't get the M.2 risers to work" blah blah blah are all attributed to rubbish chinese riser parts. I can't even imagine how much time has been wasted because those as*holes couldn't do any QC on their junk. It was very suspicious in my mind that so many people have 8+ cards on their Z270-P's yet a select few of us can't get anything to work.

Well there you have it - VERIFY 100% THAT YOUR RISER KITS ARE COMPLETELY OPERATIONAL INCLUDING THE USB CABLE, THE PCI-E TO USB ADAPTER, AND THE PCIE BOARD ARE GOOD.

My God I'm having a hell of a time to get the M.2_1 to work. I've ruled out bad USB or bad riser components. I'm going to try the "screw & bend" technique after I clean up the M.2 card's contacts. Note that I'm also using DeoxIT chem treatment on the contacts. Otherwise my Asus Z270-P is running seven 1060 SC 3GB's just fine.

I need to vent this out to my mining brothers and sisters: I just got my second rig online yesterday. I had SEVEN (7) bad riser kits. Yes, one entire Mintcell Version 7 (blue cord) bag of six kits was bad and one other kit was bad. I am so pissed. I wasted several HOURS of time trying to figure this out. I'm glad I ordered Version 8 (red cord) and have more coming. If you are stocking up on risers for future rigs, TEST THEM ASAP so you can return them.

After hours of scouring internet anecdotes and my own experience, I am strongly convinced that 75% of the "can't get more than XX GPU's to recognize" is due to junk riser kits. It is amazing how far quality control can go in a factory. I am blown away that they don't even bother testing their crap before shipping it off. A $10,000 test rig at the factory would avoid $100,000's of dollars in RMA expenses.

Uncle Sugar could have shut this down a long time ago; laws don’t apply to the Fed. They WANT cryptoa. They want the tax revenue from it. Especially under Trump’s watch. My dad has been a CPA for over 50 years and has seen it all. The Fed just wants their cut. Look at gambling and booze. Just pay them what they want and they’ll go away. That’s where good accounting has value. Write off your equipment, utility, and building rent off for your newly formed small business. With Trump’s biz tax plan you can expect to ride the money train legally. I’m up over $50k over the last year in my 401k account. I expect to experience the same rise during his reign.
