Generating Receiver Files
by
Unthinkingbit
on 19/05/2019, 08:46:20 UTC
Each round, to place the receiver file in the custodian's sites, do the following:

1.
Ensure that you can use python 2.x, and git, on your computer.

2.
Download the Unthinkingbit/charity github folder to a folder in your drive if you don't already have it:
https://github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity

3.
Copy the last devtome_analytics_(x).csv file and rename it devtome_analytics_(x+1).csv
Copy the last ongoing_(x).csv file and rename it ongoing_(x+1).csv

4.
Open a console in your folder.

5.
Run the following python scripts:
python rating.py -round (x+1)
python devtome.py -round (x+1)
python marketing.py -round (x+1)
python account.py -round (x+1)

6.
Upload the newly copied and generated files with git:
git add account_(x+1).csv
git add devtome_(x+1).csv
git add devtome_analytics_(x+1).csv
git add devtome_earnings_(x+1).csv
git add marketing_earnings_(x+1).csv
git add ongoing_(x+1).csv
git add rating_(x+1).csv
git add rating_earnings_(x+1).csv
git add receiver_(x+1).csv
git commit -a -m maintenance
git push origin master

7.
Contact Markm and ask him to generate his copy of the account and receiver file by running the account script on his computer:
python account.py -round (x+1)

and ask him to upload his files and reply to you.

8.
After Mark confirms that he generated the account and receiver file, contact the file custodians, and ask them to upload his file.

..Since this decision is tax-driven, is it possible you can continue until the end of your current tax year?
The additional time will allow us to communicate and vote of the options available for continuation of the receiver file functions.

ctya

I am willing to do the accounting for at least a few more months, if necessary. I will certainly stop by the end of the current tax year. Lately, there has not been a change in devcoin work, for example the account_93.csv file is identical to the account_94.csv file.

I Am Resigning
by

Taxes on crypto are getting too complicated and dangerous:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tax/comments/9tcnu8/did_i_ruin_my_life_by_trading_crypto/

The problems are the following:

1. The tax code for crypto is ambiguous, there is no widely agreed upon way to calculate taxes.
2. When exchanges fail, the trading information is lost, so it can be impossible to calculate trading gains and losses.
3. Accounting fees can be very high for crypto trading, sometimes more than the actual money made.
4. It is possible to owe more in taxes than was actually cashed out.
5. The rules change, and some of those changes are retroactive, so even if taxes are filed correctly today, in future tax collectors can claim that the taxes were not filed correctly and impose arbitrary penalties.

Devcoin is worth very little, but the accounting fees and risks are still high. It's a lot of hassle for little gain.

Because of this, unfortunately, I am going to resign from devcoin, until taxes are simplified or there's a big tax free cryptocoin jurisdiction, which I don't expect to happen for a long time if ever.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble because of something I'm doing or developing. I'll do the accounting for round 94, after that devcoin developers can handle the receiver files however they want.

I'm sorry for leaving. I wish there was another way, but I don't see one.

8 Shares for CTYA's Devtome Work
by
Unthinkingbit
on 01/08/2018, 06:55:44 UTC
Over the weekend I moved the hosting of devtome.com and devcoin.org.

My thanks to jasinlee and markm for their trust and the access provided to facilitate the move.

CTYA

In March I discussed with CTYA about payment for work that is not a bounty, and we agreed on 2 shares per hour. It took CTYA 4 hours to do this, so I'm awarding him 4 hours * 2 shares/hour = 8 shares for this work.

Since CTYA handles the bounties, and therefore the work payments, if anyone else worked for a task, he would award those shares.

20 Share Exchange Bounty
by
Unthinkingbit
on 17/07/2018, 08:07:38 UTC
CTYA got devcoin on Listex, so he gets the third exchange bounty of 20 shares, this will go into round 85. You can see the dev/ltc offers on Listex at:
https://dashboard.listex.io/trading/dvcltc

Devcoin (DVC) is listed at:

Listex.IO
https://www.listex.io

Listex allows trading of these pairs:

DVC/USD
DVC/GBP
DVC/EUR
DVC/DASH
DVC/BTC
DVC/LTC

Devcoin is also listed at
bisq.network and freiexchange.com

You can vote for Devcoin at Coinfalcon here:
https://feedback.coinfalcon.com/coin-request/p/devcoin-dvc

CTYA

I suggest a bounty of 15 shares for the next ten exchanges, are there any objections?

Is there a Devtome Mirror?
by
Unthinkingbit
on 13/07/2018, 19:57:05 UTC
Is there a devtome mirror? If there isn't, could someone make one?

When running the account program to generate the receiver files, I could not access devtome.com. CTYA could access devtome, and I was later able to access it through a proxy server, but that's not usable for the account program because it has to download from direct links. I speculate that devtome might be inaccessible to me because the account program downloads most of devtome, and my IP may of been flagged by DDOS protection.

Whatever the case, could someone please make a mirror, or could whoever is hosting devtome please permit me access.

Share Authority for Novacadian
by
Unthinkingbit
on 12/06/2018, 22:23:20 UTC
I want to give authority to Novacadian to hand out up to 12 shares per round to help Steemit or save it from corruption.

Novacadian agreed to do this. If Novacadian becomes corrupt and starts giving away shares for no reason, which I do not expect at all, then Novacadian would lose the share authority. Any objections?

40 Share Award for CTYA for Listing on Bisq
by
Unthinkingbit
on 05/06/2018, 20:07:23 UTC
CTYA wrote the devcoin trading code and committed it to Bisq:
https://github.com/bisq-network/bisq-assets/pull/3

and devcoin is now trading on the Bisq network:

I have v7 bisq installed on a doze 7 64bit PC & can confirm that DVC is there. For anyone having trouble displaying it:

Click on settings.
In preferences, go to Display altcoins (bottom right)
Click on "add altcoin"
click on Devcoin (DVC)

Start trading!  Smiley

so CTYA is awarded 40 shares for listing devcoin on the second exchange.

The Honest Whale
by
Unthinkingbit
on 31/05/2018, 01:32:51 UTC
⭐ Merited by develCuy (1)
My feeling is that the only way to force change on those with the power to do so is to offer an ultimatum. That is to first make changes to the code with regards to the vote weighting and then present it to the top 20 witnesses explaining that if they do not except it that there will be a real fork in the traditional sense of the word. That is a fork like BTC/BCH where the branches both retain the original blockchain.

I don't know anything about Steemit other than what I've heard on this thread, nevertheless I'll give my opinion anyways.

I agree that there is a big problem in Steemit, but people don't like ultimatums. I think you should look for a nice way to fix the problem first. Even if it turns out there was no nice way to fix things, the fact that you tried would give you more support for an eventual ultimatum.

You could try putting the Steemit tokens of devcoiners together to form an honest whale, the devcoiners would pick someone to be a trustee. You would still only have a small whale, but once you have something then other Steemit users would join. Make a Steemit page where you describe how your whale would vote according to an equal voting of the token sharers. With at least 5% of the total Steemit tokens, you could in effect give your token holders equal voting weight to the whales, without having to change the n^2 part of the code.

In any case, you can suggest whatever bounties you want, and you could ask develCuy to use part of his up to 12 shares to fund Steemit projects you recommend.

Devcoin Twitter
by
Unthinkingbit
on 25/05/2018, 21:12:57 UTC
..
plus I see the twitter devtome and others inactive, we need a twitter presence

@devcoin twitter has one tweet from 5 years ago and has 1 tweet, not owned by devcoin . offering to sell is against twitter t and c as they are doing, so suggestion for current devteam. screenshot the account and tweet, report it and ask to be suspended then deleted and reserved for you to have?
https://twitter.com/Devcoin

in menatime which is our current twitter account? that needs to be tweeting with #dvc and #devcoin hashtags and promoting all recent developments and devcoin's long history

I agree, does someone want to make a devcoin Twitter account? Or an account on any other social network site?

on 25/05/2018, 21:08:15 UTC
Great news! For getting devcoins on an exchange, CTYA gets the 60 share first exchange bounty.

Writing on behalf of FreiExchange.com , we are trying to direct our branding toward an exchange of innovative vintage coins. Would you like to be listed with us? If so, please fill in AddCoin link found at bottom of our website. We don't charge very much to list coins either, mostly free really.

Thanks

FreiExchange has added DVC trading.

Share authority for CTYA, develCuy and Markm
by
Unthinkingbit
on 07/05/2018, 06:24:10 UTC
To give people more incentive to do stuff, I want to give authority to CTYA, develCuy, and Markm to hand out up to 12 shares each. They would each have the authority to hand out shares for people who helped their fields, without having to specifically ask for permission on the thread. This means people who do something could get paid faster, without the extra time and thread clutter of asking for each bounty or payment on the thread.

CTYA could hand out up to 12 shares per round to people who help get an exchange; develCuy could hand out up to 12 shares per round to people who help with either Steemit or coding devcoin. Markm could hand out up to 12 shares per round to people who help with either his exchange or Open Transactions.

Also CTYA would get 20 shares per round into an account, which he would convert to popular cryptocoins by some means like Markm's exchange, to offer to exchanges in return for listing devcoin. Basically, once he had crypto saved up from that account, he'd send another message to exchanges who didn't outright reject devcoin telling them there's now an extra payment for listing devcoin.

They've all agreed to do this. If anyone becomes corrupt and starts giving away shares for no reason, which I do not expect at all, then that person would lose their share authority. Any objections?

CTYA is Now a File Custodian

CTYA offered to be a file custodian, and I accepted. We don't need any more custodians at this time, if we need another one, I'll someone or I'll ask on this thread.

Re: Advertising

To start, maybe the blogs could be on Steemit, expanding what develCuy is doing. Eventually it would probably be best to make our own blog site, so people would know that everything on the domain would be open source.

This is a nice a idea, but I was thinking if we should take our content from devtome and paste it on steemit or if there's a way to piggback on it from devtome. How does this work?

Writers would post wherever they prefer. In the beginning, they would manually copy and paste it over to the other platform. Copying is a lot faster than writing so this is good enough to start. In the future, an administrator would use a script to copy over everything, maybe once a month.

Advertising
by
Unthinkingbit
on 16/03/2018, 19:50:07 UTC
Definitely too much invested in DevTome to throw it away at this point. We might want to to look into creating an AdSense compliant content branch so that it can begin generating some cash flow as promised, though. We may want to think of some uses of blockchain that have come to be since DVC's conception. Chains like steem, for example. Could there be something that the DVC blockchain could bring to the alt coin table that is not already there?

- Nova

One reason advertisers gave for not advertising on devtome is that it is about everything, and many advertisers prefer sites focusing on one topic.

To give advertisers the focus they want, an open source blog website could be made. Writers would have their own blogs, and those blogs that became popular would get advertisers, and that money would go to those writers. The content on all blogs would be mirrored on devtome. This way the writers would get advertising money, and devtome would get more content.

To start, maybe the blogs could be on Steemit, expanding what develCuy is doing. Eventually it would probably be best to make our own blog site, so people would know that everything on the domain would be open source.

Copy Receiver Files from http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org
by
Unthinkingbit
on 01/03/2018, 06:26:56 UTC
I plan to remove any devtome.com domain and sub-domains from the source code!

All voices in favor or against please provide feedback here: https://github.com/coinzen/devcoin/issues/35

Does anyone know who is the administrator for devtome.com ?

I'm in favor of that. Also please remove links to:
http://devcoinblockexplorer.info/

because Shattienator, who made http://devcoinblockexplorer.info/ a long time ago, is no longer uploading receiver files. Also, it looks like the domain is abandoned. This will bring the peers down to 3 to start, which is good because it should be an odd number.

Hey Fuzzybear

The receiver_69.csv at http://devcoinpool.btc-music.com/
is different than the receiver_69.csv at devcoin.darkgamex.ch

Can you verify and replace that if it is different?

Thank you!

CTYA

The reference receiver file is Markm's copy at:
http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org

if there is ever a difference from that, the custodian should copy the corresponding file from http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org.

Found more info on listing a coin on cryptopia.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/1484

basically you need to pay 2,500,000 DOT to get it considered Sad everyone complaining about the price...

trading on cryptopia 2,500,000 DOT = 9.5btc
..

..
4) https://cryptocoincharts.info/markets/show/c-cex - Friendly good response - You can add the coin on the voting page - https://c-cex.com/?id=vote . We will surely consider adding it if it gets enough votes and the community shows enough interest. 2 - We can list a coin or asset for 5 BTC immediately

best one I found at cheapest price is 1.5 btc
https://tradesatoshi.com/addcoin
have to register free account to view
..

don't pay to get added, its a scam as they'll remove you later on and you'd have to pay again.

I don't want to pay, but if we have to, the 1.5 btc fee is doable. Should we wait a week to see if anybody replies with a cheaper offer?
