With all those new and shiny Projects, which outperform BTC in every aspect, I think it could be quite hard, but I am not sure, so I created this poll  Wink

Please vote and share your opinion  Smiley

Outperform Bitcoin in every aspect? Could you please elaborate? Do you mean ICO (scam) projects? Never seen anyone doing better at this point, yes they can raise huge funds and what happens after that? While Bitcoin continue to thrived, we might be in a bear market but it doesn't mean that we're out.

RadixDLT? Never heard of it? Oh Ok, I just check their website (https://www.radixdlt.com/). Blockchain killer? really?  Grin

ICO (=scam) projects: hell no  Grin Grin

What I mean is a project that has true decentralization (and yes I consider mining pools as centralized, far better than PoS IMHO tho), with more than 5TPS, very small fees, which does not require to wait for 6 confirmations (~1h) and so on.
Basically what Bitcoin tried to do, but better (Sidechains, LN is bad compared to a product which can scale on-ledger, and pls don´t get me started why a GB Block is shitty)

DAG´s tried to deliver a better architecture, but: "Sounds good, doesn´t work"  Cheesy

Right now at least a few people have realized that bitcoin is too slow and that we need a better architecture, but no one has delivered yet.

RadixDLT promises (!) a solution to this, but it is closed source until launch (to prevent copycats, open source soon after launch) so no way to verify now. The reason why RadixDLT is my best bet is that there was no shady ICO, the main dev funded the project with nearly all of his private money and it is in development for 6 years now (not the time I would take if I wanted to scam someone). Furthermore, I like the information which is public at the moment.
But I don´t want to stick to a specific project, I just think that right now a bunch of devs is aware of this and there is most likely a solution to this no that far away. This is why I wondered what you all think how long it will take for such a project to come up.

you said it yourself, they are "shiny" projects Cheesy
in other words they are mostly hot air and when you look under the hood you can see that they are either exactly the same as bitcoin (like the bitcoin copies) or they are weaker versions of bitcoin (like the copies that introduced some weakness into their copy by foolishly changing things they shouldn't have) or they are different versions that have different and in most cases serious flaws.

in any case I am also very interested to hear what altcoin you think is "outperforming" bitcoin?

RadixDLT for example. There are a few more, but that would be my best bet. (although the mainnet hasn´t launched yet, but it will in 2019)

I think if it works without flaws it will make many other coins useless, especially smart contract coins and coins which focus on TPS, here we have over 100k/s  Shocked

Reviving this because this: https://blockchain.info/de/tx/4777bde78c0d0aeefe76115857414efdec71bc239ecf0a6f1886691575909716 is a joke and I read the LN is already tested on the test chain.

I really like the ideology and concept of BTC and I am definitely no BCH supporter, BUT btc needs scaling. I know BTC has died a lot of times but now I think it could get serious.

Why do I think so?

Amazon and eBay are both seriously considering adding cryptos (not bitcoin, cryptos) as payment.

At the moment I think BTC would be a really bad solution (won´t pay 10$ for some X-mas present and buy 20$ fee on Amazon).

--> If Amazon and/or eBay adds some crypto I think at the moment the best solution would be ripple. 1500 tx/sec vs 3 tx/sec AND if ripple would be accepted by one of those, it would go to the moon and leave BTC behind, end of story  Sad

OR LN finally comes to us and BTC might be again a currency.

Pls share your thoughts and share if you have knowledge of the current state of the LN

I sent this 5 days ago, still no confirmation. I know that fee is low (5$, yes I have to call 5$ low!), but 5 days!!!

I am a true BTC believer, but at the moment BTC is a Porsche unable to drive  Sad

I am really looking forward to an LN solution.

PS: Yes I know those are no segwit addresses

The reason your transaction is taking so long (and needed a much higher fee for fast confirmation) is that you created a very BIG transaction.  Your transaction is more than 6,000 bytes in size!  Nearly all of my transactions are less than 375 bytes.

Note, however, that you did pay enough fees to use the viaBTC accelerator.  With a bit of patience, you can get your transaction confirmed within 2 days.

I am fully aware what I did and I did it on purpose.

I am not in a hurry, but I expected that it confirms in a few days.

Only posting such a message all two months, spread awareness (it might reach some dev one day) that we need scaling solutions.

viaBTC get´s spammed by bots, you need immense luck or a bot to get your tx in there  Angry Sad

And I tried several other services (free ones) 2 days ago.

Re: A new MMORPG with cryptointegration, collecting ideas
by
User365

I don't really get the idea of implementing the blockchain to the mmorpg...only for various ways of donations, maybe...but that's not, what you want to hear, isn't it? If you do so - think not only of the game itself, but also of a generous and multifunctional coin, if it's going to be used outside.

Just to get this straight:

There is an in-game currency which is a completely normal cryptocurrency, which can be traded on exchanges and so on. Players receive them as a reward for quests, devs make the money for server costs (etc...) from ads. Furthermore, at some stage in-game the players would be enabled to mine the currency (with their PC, but there is also an in-game interaction, with a dwarf or whatsoever).

Re: Cryptocurrency as the Imperial End-game
by
User365
on 06/12/2017, 18:28:52 UTC
The global empire is tired.  Its real economic output is being surpassed by new, rising powers.  It has issued so much debt that there's no hope of really paying it back.  Its people are used to the good life and are less productive than before, and its prices are too high and can't come down without a disaster.  It has been hit by financial crisis after financial crisis.  Everyone in the know is saying the empire's days are numbered.

But the empire has one last trick.  It manages to get the bankers and politicians in all major economies to change their monetary system so totally that the empire is suddenly much wealthier.  (Don't ask me why those countries agreed to it!)  The empire lasts another half-century in splendor and comfort.

2010s America?  Good guess, but it was 1870s Britain.  Britain talked the US, Germany and France into abandoning silver as money and using gold exclusively.  The Bank of England, which had gold but not silver, suddenly got rich, relatively.

Perhaps, the reason why the US and Germany foolishly abandoned silver was , like Napoleon said, bankers have no loyalty to their countries.

We've seen this movie before.  Substitute cryptocurrencies for gold, and gold for silver, and it's the same script.  More or less.  I suspect it will end the same way.

I think that BTC is not the masterplan of a Government or a bank/ multiple banks, would just make no sense to give away the power they have in the current situation (controlling money).

BUT, I think a Bank/Government/Company which accepts BTC as a payment, in the beginning, will profit enormously because of the increasing value of BTC. So, maby, if the US will not accept BTC as a currency for a very long time, but Russia does, it might boost the economy of Russia and help it to overcome the US in power (very theoretical example, I think it´s not very likely to happen)

Re: Suggestions for an app?
by
User365
on 06/12/2017, 15:56:26 UTC
I have been waiting for a decent multi coin wallet that utilises arbitrage to cut costs.

e.g. You want to buy BTC, the app notices that you could get this cheapest (including fees) if you buy dash through website x, trade it for eth on exchange y then trade for btc on exchange z.

You just have to have accounts on all those exchanges or do an api deal or something to make it work.

Too complicated, right?  Huh

This idea would be perfectly suit to combine it with mine.

There could be a arbitage plugin which enables what nothreat described
