i find that the asrock it better, because you can do 14 gpu, with this one only 12, and because io can't find easily this biostar in my country and it's more expensive, but in both case you need to have a badass psu or dual psu to handle all these gpu

Prepare for the next pump. Probably higher than 5000 sats. There is a huge buy-support coming. Already back at 3100 sats

4 BTC worth a single buy order

not that sure, see the sell order up to 4k satoshi there are more than 10 btc there, and the buy orders look very tiny now, i think we are going to see a little stagnation phase first, the reward is still too high now, maybe after POW end

Re: Why? ASIC made in China ONLY?
by
Vaccinus
on 25/07/2017, 09:33:25 UTC
The tech is in china

tech is not in china. most complicated electronic devices are developed outside of china.
manufacturing yes but not the cutting edge technologies.
anyone with enough money could hire developers to make a ASIC chip and start manufacturing miners.
at the beginning there was european, american, china and ukranian miner developers, few survided

it's right they buy their cheap from the same manufacters that amd and intel and nvidia buy their chip, which are all from a silicon factory, that are not in china, so they import that first, then they make the board, which is the easy part

bears in mind that a 1080 at 90% tdp or even at 80% have a peak of consumption that is higher than 250, it touch 275 watt in some case, that is 1650, then you need to add all other components, so you are not going to be in with that psu, i recommend a 2k psu

Re: How do I make sure to not lose $ value in BTC?
by
Vaccinus
on 25/07/2017, 09:25:20 UTC
From time to time, I get paid in BTC for my freelancing services. Sometimes, I don't exchange it to real cash and let BTC sit in the wallet. But lately there has been A LOT of fluctuation in BTC price so if I have, let's say, $2000 today, tomorrow I might have half of it. I don't like that kind of a situation. So is there any way to make sure that your BTC gets fixed? Like, somehow fix the BTC price in your wallet. So no matter if actual BTC price rises or falls, you still have the same value that you have today. I think I might be interested in keeping some of my savings in BTC (away from banks) if I can somehow find a way to fix the value that I have today.

Is there a way? Any suggestions?

if you are for the long term does it matter if bitcoin go down a little and then recover? better to not stress yourself with all the up and down, just relax and use your bitcoin when the desired price is reached, but if you need to convert quickly use a third party that auto-convert

by

the best one is indeed the innosilicon, the other re behind, but it's not only a matter of speed but a matter of time, it's better to have a slower speed but get the miner early to start mining with low, diff because if the diff increase your faster miners it's like my slower miner

yeah i name them rig 1 2 3 etc... simple than that there is not, you can just name them 1 2 3 etc, even simple but boring maybe, if you don't name them i get confused if i need to solo and put a wallet in one of them, they all look the same

try to look in the bios there should be an option to enable the possibility to have more gpu to be supported by your motherboard, look for 4g or "gen" something, if not then your motherboard can't see more than 3

Re: Trouble setting up mining rig
by
Vaccinus
on 02/07/2017, 14:15:59 UTC
Why the hell are you plugging the card in x1 slot?  Please read the manual of your motherboard before assembling your rig. First of all, let's make a check list:
Updated bios? Yes, then good. If no, thats the first thing you gotta do.
Set PCIe Link speed to GEN1 and then plug your card in first x16 slot, then the second card in second x16 slot, after that third card in first x1 slot just next to x16 slot and so on.
Try it and let me know your results.

maybe he mean with risers in x1 slot, he can't plug the card directly there they have no the support for that, x1 slot make sense for mining, why you said he shoudl plug there?

Re: why use riser "CARD" not ribbon.
by
Vaccinus
on 02/07/2017, 14:11:03 UTC
if you use ribbons they need to have the additional power attached to them so you dont burn out the pci slot on the motherboard.

they usb risers are better in the fact they can be sat somewhere else other than directly above the mobo
plus the circuitry is better than just the ribbons themselves less chance or burning stuff out

not true, i use ribbons all the time with my 1070 and they work perfectly fine, usb risers or powered risers are useless with the h81 pro btc, that come with additional power, they have a reason onyl on MB withotu 2 molex

this can be good if they removed the 30% less hashrate they are makign ont he 5xx series, it could make sense to buy this instead, if the promised performance meet the spec, but i'm not sur,e until i see proper testing i'm not buying, and also it's hard to get this gpu anyway

Not possible unless you ve got really, really cheap electricity.

Cause there s nothing to prevent people to buy 120000000 rigs by mid 2018 and bring you out of business. We ve seen this before, in 2013/2014, market gets saturated and everyone shut down their rigs. The ones who remain are people with 6 cents per kwh and lower.

not true you can do good with 20 cent now and more, in 2018 the profit will be much higher, so evne with more gpu there will be the same profit, while it's easy to double the gpu when they are few of them it's more difficult when you have millions already o the market
