It's been all over Reddit and national news, I've seen ton's of pieces on it. It's also getting a ton of coverage in the local media, there's quite frequently a line at the machine.

Mostly now just for fun, I don't pay for electricity here so I leave my eruptor's running, no reason to turn them off. The amount they pump out is amazingly low however.
On the plus side they are a great conversation starter when I have friend's over! I've taught many people about bitcoins after they see my little USB setup.

There are plenty of guides around to make mining btc very easy, there's no need to be an expert. make sure you have a wallet, join a pool like btcguild, etc. and you should be good to go.
Mining has become very hard lately so make sure your aware of electric costs if you pay for your own electricity and factor that in. It's a very fun hobby but one that is increasingly hard to see an ROI on.

Yea it's pretty amazing how totally unprofitable mining is now, only people making money are early adopters and hardware companies.
No they're morons. They think they're being smart and showing off their shiny new coins. But the smaller the transaction size the more transactions they have to create...which means they are paying more in transaction fees. The are literally re-distributing drug money to the people 
Its very easy to send a large transaction with no fee. Have a look on the blockchain, the FBI redistributed nothing.
No fees paid on moving $28,000,000. That has to be a new motto for Bitcoin!

As a longtime bitcoin supporter and new forum member I need to voice my opinion on something very frustrating. I understand the desire to reduce members posts overtime to ensure they are not spamming because you allow commissions based off posts.
I would like to point out the negative effects of it however. I just worked fairly hard on a post to try and respond to the community and provide information, probably 40+ minutes. In another tab I made a quick response to someone who had responded to me.
I then posted my article and was met with the your unable to post message of doom, deleting all my work. I have no interest in wasting another hour of my life putting that post together, was very frustrating to see that.
Could I perhaps suggest your site saving the post as a draft or giving a message "please try again in 2 minutes" while leaving the content intact.

the best hub so far for mining on all platforms looks like the dlink 7 hub, good price and works with the pi as most miners are switiching to these hub as they can run 5-6 block erupters
Agreed the D-Links work great and have suitable power, don't' use the cheap knockoffs, they will fail.
This means you are 2.3 trillion times more likely to be killed by an asteroid than you are to encounter a similar bitcoin address, even at this hypothetically absurdly large number of transactions per second. I'm not sure how to relate the actual current likelyhood but its like a couple hundred million times that 2.3 trillion? lol.

Participate in a group buy. USB miners won't ROI, and unless you have the thousands you need for your own miner, you best off share the exposure with others.
Group buys seem extremely risky to me, why not cloudmine instead where you can at least be in control of your own hashing?

I'm saying that a good amount of previous group buys have proved out to only benefit the individuals organizing the group buys and not the general share holders. I think that individuals like you providing dis-information to the community is a very toxic thing to bitcoin growth as a whole.
At cex.io as an alternative example, the prices may be above current roi but at least your in control of your own portfolio,can sell hash as a trader and there are no contracts. I see most group buys as one of the riskiest things you could do in bitcoin.

It's not mis-information, its just different personal experiences. You have a right to say some GB have not worked out, but I know a few people who have made a small ROI and are still hashing. You must agree that at this point you are better off hedging your bets on a GB rather than a USB miner. Be careful about accusing people of mis-information without supporting facts.
Your last post you were trying to sell this poor soul USB miners, now you say that i have to agree that USB miners are not worth the money......I think I was fairly accurate with my "accusation"

cex.io is an option you may want to look at if you can get in at decent rates. Right now i would be investing in the bitcoins themselves and not the hardware however. Most group buys present risks and usually you are paying for someone else to profit so be careful with them. Direct your own future.

It's definitely an interesting idea. Trading a constantly deflating asset seems to have a limited timeframe to make effective however. If your savvy with the market it's possible you could make some profit and free hash power to boot. I would be fairly cautious with it however as many are going to get burnt overpaying for hash power that will never return what they paid for it.
300 is a long way off. I see it getting there but there needs to be far more adoption by local business's for this thing to gain more traction. It's wonderful that a lot of e-services are starting to accept it but we need far more real world adoption for it to really grow. It's an amazingly fun thing to be a part of however, hopefully we get there!
I find it's only useful to own the alt-coins if your trading on the active markets and follow the bigfish (you have to know who has those large stashs of ltc). There's ton's of market manipulation but you can make some good money if your sharp.
I would never consider an alt-coin as a long-term investment, Bitcoin is the best for that hands down. There may be volatility in it's price but it will increase heavily over time.
