Re: How can a goverment trace you have BTC?

How can the government discover I own BTC, let's say I'm from Venezuela where crypto is banned, what they can do to discover and arrest me?

I guess you're safe and sound until and unless you let them know your identity. I know in some countries you can change BTC to fiat outside an exchange through a trusted person in person (offline) and then your identity is only known to that trusted person Cool

Some governments have recognized BTC as an investment asset, so I'm not going to question your ideas. Just wanted to show you my support Cool

With transaction fees going down, the transaction volume should go up. Let's hope when the bull is back transaction fees don't rocket along with BTC price Wink

Re: Will Bitcoin become centralized sometime in the future?

I've read an article about Bitcoin centralization and I was really surprised. I couldn't believe it was possible. Now I know for sure it is possible even with a decentralized crypto, but I'm not sure about the future. Anything could happen, you know...

Re: HOW TO STOP HACKERS TO HACK YOUR CRYPTO WALLET

Thanks for sharing! This is very important. But you know what?
The rules you have shared are simple and easy to follow, but many people are too lazy or careless and often break the rules #1, #4, and #6. Can you believe it? They think 2FA is too much fuss and then go and open links in their emails. I know guys who did it more than once! Some of them had troubles with their banking accounts and one of them had to "pay" crypto cash for such a fascinating lesson in computer security. Apparently, one lesson isn't enough for some people Wink

According to Investopedia, G-20 Classifies Bitcoin as an Asset:

"Bloomberg reports that a memorandum circulating among Group of 20 (G-20) countries may be firming up views of cryptocurrency classification. These countries appear to be moving toward a consensus that cryptocurrencies may not be currencies at all but rather that it might make more sense to consider them as assets."

It's impossible to predict when it may happen. It could be months or years, but what I know for sure is that they will have to do something about it because without a clearly defined legal status of crypto the government is deprived of significant tax and other receipts. I can picture them sitting at their desks wrecking their brains trying to find a way to capitalize on crypto transactions. Don't worry, I believe in them because they must be equally interested in taking advantage of the crypto, so rest assured they will come up with something soon. Cool

Volatility, lack of knowledge, and its status officially declared by the government of a respective country. These are probably the most important things for people, I guess.

Nope. According to my understanding of Blockchain technology and Bitcoin, it's technically impossible. Am I wrong?

Re: will bitcoin become obsolete?
by
Viperziper

Although, I haven't seen any reasons why bitcoin should become obsolete so far, I'm aware of the fact that nothing can stop people from developing something new, more reliable and sophisticated than before. Should this happen, Btc could potentially be replaced by some more advanced crypto, unless Btc develops as well. I know it sounds ridiculous for some people, but do you remember what many photographers said about digital cameras? I do! They said digital cameras will never replace film because film is unique, it has some characteristics that were impossible to be reproduced by digital cameras, etc., etc... Whatever happened to film cameras? Does anybody use them anymore?
Think about it.

Yeah, the same thing has happened to digital cameras, they have been replaced with smartphone cameras. So Bitcoin might also face quite a challenge in the not-too-distant future from the new technology we don't have idea about.

Re: Will bitcoin go under regulation

A cryptocurrency as influential as Bitcoin just can't remain in the shadow or go unnoticed. Neither can it remain outside government control or regulation, so I believe going under regulation is just a matter of time and readiness of the respective governments, IMHO.

This market is unpredictable, so I don't believe anyone can totally control it. But I do believe some people, let's call them 'whales' might influence the price movements and behavior.

Re: Do you still believe in predictions of "experts" about the bitcoin price?
by

on 13/09/2018, 07:53:45 UTC
I don't believe them, of course. I don't think anyone can predict BTC price movements because none of those predictions has ever come true. So, I don't take their blah, blah, blah too seriously.
It's not about believing or not what they predict; I usually listen to "expert" forecasts just to consider alternatives that might not occur to me. It's just like a game for my imagination Wink

Re: Bitcoin cannot be a global currency
by

on 25/07/2018, 02:25:49 UTC
Technology believers believe that bitcoin is the mission of decentralization, the future of the world currency.

....

In the world of BTC, new centralization has begun...

This is a very interesting point. I mean, it never occurred to me. And you are probably right in this respect.
However, this doesn't mean Bitcoin cannot be a global currency because, in fact, it already is in some way. It is still evolving so we'd better wait and see what it's going to be in the end.
