A little confused on Bitcoin itself right now with this surge

I have been around the bitcoin scene since the beginning of the year.

What I have realized is that bitcoin is a movement in a sense that it is decentralized without government regulation. Now what has been confusing me recently is that if the whole point of bitcoin is to USE it as a currency and get away from all the fees associated with credit cards/paypal and such, why is everybody treating this as a stock???

Don't get me wrong, I initially invested into bitcoin to show my support and to be a long term holder (for the cause). Due to my impulsive nature, I got out, still up, but no where near where I would be up now, but I can't complain being up. If bitcoin is being bought/sold just to make a quick buck, then doesn't that go against what bitcoin stands for???

I'm not saying that all this buying/selling in the past month is hurting bitcoin, the past shows that any type of news is good news for bitcoin (unless it's government/MTGoX related). I just hope that this is not another bubble. That last bubble at $265+ down to under $60 hurt bitcoins reputation in a way that news and media were bashing it. The ideal future would be me walking into a local convenience store and buying say a can of soda with bitcoin.

Final speculative question, What is bitcoin going to stabilize at!?!?!?!?!? 250? 500? I was leaning towards 250 when it was at 450ish, but now I couldn't even guess a price.

Hierarchical Deterministic Wallets are the ideal way to do this, so that you can generate new addresses on the server as needed but the server has no ability to spend. There are implementations in python, Java, C++, and Ruby here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BIP_0032#Implementations
You could also communicate with Electrum over RPC.

I have been reading into Electrum and I still have to figure out which coding would be most secure. I am most familiar with Js so I will be looking into the implementations next. Thanks a lot for the response!

How can I make a unique bitcoin address for multiple users on my website?

So I am trying to make a browser based casino style game. I was initially going to create 100 bitcoin addresses through coinbase (coinbase account would only be dedicated for the website) and put them into a database and just pull the address from the database when somebody went to create a new account. I could always add more addresses to the database if there were more accounts made.

I am almost certain that my method will work, but does anybody have any other input on this type of issue?

I have been trying to search on the forum for the past few days and could not find a better solution to this problem yet.

If somebody can post a topic that is similar to this type of issue, I would appreciate it if you could post the topic in this thread.

I was trying to see if there was a sort of smoother way in doing this, rather than allotting a bunch of bitcoin addresses in my database. Maybe whenever somebody clicks create new account it would have their bitcoin address right at the top of the form (that would change everytime the create new account button is hit, until they submit the form)

Just doing some brainstorming for this part of my website, considering this is one of, if not the main part of the website.

Thanks!!!

But you don't know who owns the btc address who sent the payment

I wouldn't need to know the btc address who sent the payment to the account. You could always blockchain it and see where it came from, but I am only concerned about their bitcoin address on my website. No single user would have the same address, obviously Tongue

You are a Junior member. You can post everywhere.

What do you need exactly? To generate new addresses from deposits when you need?
You can also use 1 single address, and ask everyone to send you the bitcoin on the same address. But you won't know who send it to you...

Thanks for the reply, I guess the place I tried posting was for mods only or something, since I could not create a new topic, but anyway....

I need it on my website, so that when a person clicks "create new account" it brings them to a form to fill out all there information, and when they submit there account information, it will bring them to a "my account" type page with their unique bitcoin address where they can deposit funds instantly.

I was going to have the address pulled from my database when they submit the form, so it assigns the address to that one person, and only that one person.

Unfortunately I had to post this in the Newbies section, since I am lacking posts, but I'm sure there are people in here that can help me out.

Not Really New To Bitcoin But...

So I have been around in the bitcoin scene since the beginning of this year around Jan/Feb right before the jump up to 269ish before the bubble.

I have kept my close on on bitcoinity to stay up to date with prices.

The thing I do not understand is how the price can jump up to $375+ with the amount of volume that is going on.

If you look at the graph the amount of volume when it peaked ranged from 1.25 Million to a little over 2 Million (The bubble).

How the hell can bitcoin in the past month go from $141 to over $375 with having the MAX volume of under 100,000.

It was hovering at about 60K-80K before it shot up. Maybe somebody can explain to me as to why/how this has happened.

I am not the type of person that says I told you so, but isn't the drastic appreciation of bitcoin eventually going to bubble down to a reasonable price again like it did in the past?

I have seen the highs and lows, but somebody needs to help me understand as to why this is going on with the amount of volume that is going on.

Thanks in advance!!!!
