Re: MtGox websocket API: I get ticker and depth messages, but no trade or lag

I've been experiencing the same thing from the websocket. A stream of Ticker messages, and occasional depth message and I haven't seen a trade message yet.
I'd really like to figure this out!

I agree 100%! I don't understand what happened to the culture there. Back when I was still dealing with Mark Karpeles they felt like they were legit and really doing what they could to keep everything as private as possible -- what a dramatic reversal!

Next thing you know Mtgox is going to try to get you to file forms like the SEC !

I wish some of these other exchanges that have talked about coming up actually come to fruition. As long as the main place where bitcoin is traded has a reference in it's name to a god damn card game played by a bunch of neckbeards noone is ever going to take us seriously.

What the fuck is up with Mtgox? I have used this service since they were still trading Magic the gathering bullshit and now all of a sudden out of nowhere in order to make a deposit with Dwolla I have to give them all my personal information? Fuck That!

Where else can I buy bitcoin with Dwolla online, I don't care if I have to pay a premium

Re: I run Copleaks.com, we're taking bitcoin donations now.

I run copleaks, it's basically just a blog where I write about stories I see about police and the justice system that aggrevate me
Here is a picture of my traffic since I started it 4 months ago.
I'm still getting a decent amount of traffic but not a ton, anyways most of it is from stumbleupon and it is from people who are pissed off at the government, so i figure there's an overlap with BTC adopters.

I understand the value of bitcoins is not stable at all.
Sorry if this is total spam, but I'm trying to sell my 2002 ford focus for bitcoin.
This thread seemed like it had a lot of people in it who had a decent amount and the marketplace is a joke.
If anyone is interested send me a PM. sorry for the spam, I won't do the whole mining board just this topic because
it was discussing value and I think people in the market think I'm going to want something outrageous like 200 BTC for the car, and I'm not..

Re: bitcoinity.org/markets - live mtgox & tradehill charts
by

on 27/06/2011, 03:55:27 UTC
I'm using Chrome and If I open it in two tabs (one from tradehill and one for gox) I get the same chart on both pages ...

again ... it is AWESOME ... keep up the good work

This is amazing thank you soo much! It doesn't seem to auto-refresh in chrome, and the charts are the same even when you choose different exchanges.
What browser is this designed for, I want to view it in all its glory, it is such a useful tool.

Re: Selling 2002 Ford Focus for Bitcoin by June 30th.

I have family moving there by the end of next month. I think you should put an approximate price of what youd look to sell it for.

I'm asking 1500$ on craigslist obo, i've got offers right now up to about $1000, so around whatever that is but it depends on craigslist.
I'm trying to get the best price for this car that I can, and also not trying to screw anyone over so I've written a detailed explanation of what the condition of the car is in an e-mail. I'd rather not put it on here for privacy reasons. I also have high resolution photos of the car so you can check it out for yourself as much as you can without coming here.

Selling 2002 Ford Focus for Bitcoin by June 30th.
by
Webengers
on 27/06/2011, 02:20:04 UTC
I have a 2002 Ford focus that I have to sell by June 30th because I'm moving. It is located in Indiana.
It currently does not run, but should not be expensive to fix. It will need to be towed or fixed in Indiana when you get it.
If you are interested, send me a private message and I'll send you an e-mail with pictures and a much longer explanation I've already written out on craiglist  and we can go from there.
I don't have time to mess with it or money to fix it so otherwise it's going to end up going to some cannibal junkyard asshole.

Re: Lots of ignorance on the board
by
Webengers
on 24/06/2011, 15:01:33 UTC
There is a lot of ignorance on the board.

To whom it may concern:

You need to learn patience.
You need to learn not to play this game if you can't afford to lose the money.
You need to learn that right now, you've only given mtgox 1 week to secure a site from every hacker in the world. Hackers have broken security to the CIA, CITI bank, the UK census, Arizona police department, Sony, and others. To advocate opening mtgox before they're ready is the most ignorant idea conceived.
You need to learn that if mtgox fails a second time, your money will not just be suspended; you will have a 0% chance of getting it back.
You need to learn that human labor is 10^9 slower than current computer processors.
You need to learn that if your account got rejected, you didn't provide enough proof for them to reasonably verify you. If a hacker were to apply and mtgox grant them access to your account with the same information, you'd throw a bitch fit. Be thankful that they scrutinize your account information to such a high degree.

Please, if you don't understand the internet or life in general, please read a book to understand the internet and then educate yourself on life in general by using the internet.

+1

So there are other reasonable people here.

If anyone is so pissed they want to sell their mtgox account to me, let me know. I'll purchase your account, I have faith in them.

Re: WTF @ Mt.Gox?!
by

Hi Everyone,

We are evaluating 2 methods at this time. SMS, and Yubikey.

The "free subscription" we're referring to is SMS verification. Unfortunately we're a prime target for SMS flooding if we make this a free service, as you can probably understand.

As for the Yubikey, you will pay for a key and the service itself would of course be offered free of charge, making it effectively a one time fee.

I'd like to get your thoughts on this

Was it really your account that got hacked?

I believe the consensus was probably not

damnit I was hoping I had the distinction of having the first conspiracy theory related to what may well become known as the great bitcoin crash of 2011.

Do you know where it was discussed, I'd like to read the discussion.

No.
Cool. Thanks for clarifying that. I understand, it's out of the realm of possibility. I mean, noone has ever done anything crafty to control a potentially multi-million dollar industry... **cough forbes, **cough kennedy, **cough rockefeller, **cough edison

So I've been following this whole mtGox thing pretty closely, and also been getting e-mails from tradehill non-stop!

Then I read the facial recognition article about the mtGox video and find out that it was most likely their wallet that was compromised and you have to think..

If you compromised the main exchange, why not just steal everyones bitcoin?

Basically, what if the tradehill guys where behind the mtgox hack and have now used it as a way to completely usurp the bitcoin exchange and trading market and all the fees, etc in the process..
