Oh shi*, we're fucked.
BTCGuild takes over, all Pools are being DDOSed, MTRed closes door, ozco hacked to steal payouts.
The System itself has gotten attention of too much people, now some try to get our money out, then destroy it.

And the loss of ~1600BTC, jesus, Graet deserves a gold medal for taking this as a lesson and continue working.
Most would have killed someone responsible for this.
Why 1600 BTC? Great reported about 934 BTC theft.

He is talking about the theft plus the previous loss of 700 odd BTC from PPS issues that Graet also funded out of his pocket.

Won't bitcoins always have more eyeballs as any inquiry about ixcoin will either come from bitcoin or lead back to bitcoin?

It will be interesting to see how long these forks survive before people decide they have no value. IMO the new forks will just end up giving a bad name to Bitcoins from the POV of mainstream media

in a pinch you can move the monitor from card to card and force detection, this only works until the next reboot of course

imo if it stays near $20 a coin then its profitable for me, otherwise if it keeps dropping to 13 or less then i'd think about stopping. I hear a lot that it will be going up in the future, this doesn't help me now if my power bill exceeds my cash flow

Re: HOWTO: create a 100% secure wallet

Instead of booting a live cd, you could also mount a ramdisk (or make a folder in /dev/shm) and create a symlink from it to ~/.bitcoin, then create your wallet, addresses, backup etc.. This, of course, assuming you're already running some Linux distribution. Then the files will only have ever resided in RAM; unmount the ramdisk (or delete the folder you created in /dev/shm), and the symlink to it, and it'll be almost as if the files were never there.

Just don't forget to make the backup, since otherwise--because it is in RAM--once you shut down it'll be gone forever.

best be on a ups if you plan to do that

yes and no, i don't disagree there needs to be some sort of restriction, but I've been reading the forums without registering for ages, finally decided i had some thing constructive to say, which will now be obsolete by the time i get there.

Maybe another way to be able to post without the full wait times would be by "verification" or sponsorship from an existing member
