I guess price will bounce back to 8500 USD during next week or so. All these indicators and averages have a huge latency, good on past data but not useful for predicting things

I think so. Before the rebound, the price could go as low as $7000.

Re: [2017-11-11] Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein Open to Bitcoin Trading Desk
by

on 11/11/2017, 19:24:26 UTC
I am already happy to see that not every CEO is looking to trash talk Bitcoin down. Bitcoin isn't just a threat to them, but can also function as a source of growth. Banks are in the game to make money, and then a lot of it, so it would actually makes sense for Goldman Sachs to set up some sort of a trading platform allowing whatever entity to hop in. Not sure if they will end up allowing entities to buy Bitcoin directly, or just financial products tied to this market, but it will fill up the massive gap of demand for Bitcoin's market, and that means money in the bank (pun intended).

I think Lloyd is very open minded. Totally different for Jamie.

I wonder if all their users were able to withdraw everything without problems?

A few weeks back there was a rumour that they were operating a fractional reserve and wouldn't be able to pay everyone. Any Chinese users here who can confirm whether everyone got their money out?

For the time being, they are able to withdraw. But they have to be quick. The exchanges might not have enough reserve.

Re: Price is increasing too fast, will there be a correction?
by

on 12/08/2017, 15:00:45 UTC
Bitcoin moving so fast, I don't think there will be any corrections until it passed more than 4000$ and the correction seems like going to make Bitcoin fall down below 4000$ again, at first I thought Bitcoin will have correction when reach 3700$ but the value keep passing, but for sure there will be correction

I agree with that. After the price is above $4000, there will be bad news about the hard fork again, the price will drop.

DGB has nothing much that a lot of alts.
It is a bit too hyped. One alts like DGB but much less hyped & overpriced is without a doubt Okcash.
Like DGB, it has lightning transactions, low fees and no scalability problems.

I think DGB has good development and the trading volume is also high.

until now have not thought about it because it is very difficult for others to cryptocurency could replace cryptocurency bitcoin my knowledge there because bitcoin created as a benchmark to price cryptocurrency.
I don’t think that any other cryptocurrency can compete with bitcoin currency do to their so much achievement and success. It seems to be impossible according to the present situation.

If any currency try to do so they required so much time to come on to the level of bitcoin because is not organization which is new made it is established since many year so conclusion of all discussion is that not possible to compete with bitcoin currency rate and come on to the level of bitcoin.

The bitcoin has the largest user community. No other altcoin can match that.

I think bitcoin will never be replaced by other digital currency. bitcoin a digital currency is a first created, bitcoin has historical value as well as high value. there will be no altcoin that could change the position bitcoin in the main option.
Everything will change even if it is Bitcoin. Since the world started, many currencies have been created and have been replaced by another one. Bitcoin is the first digital currency so that it is being used by many people. However, in the future, many new cryptos will be made which will be more effective and more secure. Right now, Bitcoin have many dangerous competition such as etherium, zcash
lol what is that zcash? even ethereum that take people attention when they are officially partnering with microsoft as a service on azure, they are mean nothing to the giant cryptocurrency bitcoin , it's possible indeed to have a bigger and better cryptocurrency rather than bitcoin , but there is no bigger name than bitcoin !

Zcash is very historical its the most hyped coins in the history of cryptocurrency. It hyped at 200btc each then go down at 6 btc then go down more to 0.04 btc. Its not stable. Ethereum on the other hand is a good coin but it split into two ethereum and ethereum classic. This two coins cannot replace bitcoin. At this point of time no coin can replace bitcoin, but if there is I will vote for monero since it is very similar to bitcoin and Pesobit because I love it.

The volume at 2000 bitcoin was too small. It is not very significant.

Bitcoin will not be replaced by any other altcoin. I don't see any chance ofit happening. Bitcoin is way beyond the reach of any coin that is out there and it will be like that in future too. Every year new coins will come and go. This year we have Zcash. It's bitcoin forever!

It seems it can be replaced by the ZCash. ZCash has bigger block size and it is suitable for more transacitons.

Probably not in the next 10 years. Ethereum took 2 years to come out ,and its just a pile of crap, with all the hacks and scams going on there. (not to mention the hardforks).

Best candidates would be:

LTC = Which is a copycat, so probably not

NMC = Which doesnt really serve as currency

MONERO = Probably high chance, but it doesnt even have a GUI wallet yet, so better make that come out first.

Other than that, there is no viable competitor to bitcoin ,and probably wont be for the next 2 years, and to beat bitcoin...? That would take a lot more than that!
i would like to nominate litecoin instead any other cryptocurrency ,
they have a very strong community and did not often lost too much value ,
even you must realize that the chance this thing to happened very low ,
bitcoin are too big to be replaced.

The Monero is too different from the bitcoin. It uses totally different technology. Its blocks are bloating fast.

Re: [2016-10-02]An Insight into Bitcoin Trading in China
by
Wevariant
on 02/10/2016, 16:12:15 UTC
"Even though their ticket sizes are small, individual investors represent a significant chunk of investments in the market. In the current economic scenario, individual investors shifting from conventional assets to digital currency doesn’t come as a surprise. The risks associated with Bitcoin and other digital currencies are adequately compensated by their potential returns, which is higher than any other asset at the moment.

The Chinese investors have never been risk-averse, the trend shows them repeatedly investing in speculative assets over time. A combination of economic slowdown and capital controls have only increased the interest in digital currencies. Recent data shows a huge decline in investments this year compared to statistics from 2014 and 2015. At the same time, Bitcoin trading on Chinese exchanges has gone up drastically. In August, the BTC/CNY trading pair dominated the market, commanding over 90% of total trades.

The Love for Gambling
A psychological factor influencing Bitcoin trading among the Chinese; The love for gambling and volatile nature of Bitcoin prices makes an ideal match, says the Chief Marketing Officer of HaoBTC, Eric Mu.

Fast and Easy Money, No Government Involvement
Being a decentralized currency, Bitcoin is not under the control of any government or an institution. Also, the absence of comprehensive regulations makes it easier for the Chinese individual investors to invest as much as they can spare on Bitcoin for trading. The volatility helps traders to make some quick profits as well. Further, the Chinese exchanges make it more convenient for traders by waiving off transaction fees.

Capital Controls
The capital controls implemented by Chinese government makes it almost impossible to convert Chinese yuan to any other currency. This leaves behind Bitcoin as the go-to currency which can be bought with Yuan and then converted to any currency of choice.

The recent losses incurred by stock market investors due to failing economy and government policies have also influenced their decision to move from Stock market trading to Bitcoin trading.

Dominance in Bitcoin Mining
Chinese mining pools continue to be the highest contributor of hashing power to the global Bitcoin network. The mining community constantly spends newly generated Bitcoin to fund their mining operations, adding to the trade volume.

Support for Margin Trades
The Chinese exchanges, Huobi and OKCoin offer favorable margin trading services, at a cost. Chinese investors can leverage anywhere between 1:1 to 1:5 to short Bitcoin."

Re: ETH Soon Back To Sub 1 Dollar
by

What I see in poloniex is that ethereum is on the top of most traded coins in the last 24h

So the price is more than $12 (~0.02+) and to go to one dollar is impossible for now.

Thank you...

yeah there is a very nice pump going on right now and it is a very good opportunity to make some money from this coin.

but i think ethereum is doomed eventually especially with bug after bug which is being found in the code, it nearly looks like a swiss cheese these days full of holes.

Could you tell me how much vulnerabilities were found on Windows ? hundreds. maybe thousands.
And Bill Gates is still the second richest man in the world.

That is right. Windows has been around for more than 20 years and still has many bugs. The Ethereum is good enough.

Now the time has gone when we are in the wait that the price of bitcoin will come down to $1, now it is going good some people including me are in doubt but still a lot of people are of the view that the future of eth will be more better.

I do not think the Ethereum price will go below $1. There will be a Ethereum Conference in the next few days. There could be a price pump.

hahahahah... eth back to 1 dollar and bitcoin too back 1 dollar. jsut wait world War 3  Grin

actually during world war 3 the btc  would probably rise dramatically in value. Unless of course all of civilization is destroyed

That is possible as bitcoin is the universal money. It is like gold, not like the fiat issued by a single country or entity.

The Ethereum could also be a good money in the time of turmoil. It can also be used by business in the trouble times.

The Ethereum price is quite stable after the fork. Its price has risen over the last two weeks. So it has good support.

The Ethereum price is actually rising against the ETC. That means many people are deserting the ETC to buy ETH.

If the Ethereum Classic has a lot of money to support the further development of the ETC, the price could also rise a lot.

Whales usually... Price will stay high unless they got bored and when they do, it will be a bloodbath. They keep the price high and make us wanna buy so they can dump their coins:)
though how are they keeping the price high if it is dumped at the moment? i think the prices depend purely on people and anything might happen with it in the future

They don't wanna keep it high at the moment i thought that was obvious. lol. Of course it depends on people but depends on which kind of people? People with much money, or people with less money? That was my point.

I think the reason for the recent drop of the bitcoin price is due to the rise of the Ethreum, investors are more interested in that.

The trading volume of the combined ETH+ETC is higher than the bitcoin at the moment. Ethereum is hot now.

Eth has assumed ltc place and is currently the silver crypto,

I find the use of the word 'currently' rather telling. Silver will always be silver. Who knows what the next jumble of code will be that gives pumpers a boner?
Probably the next 6 months.

Besides the silver to bitcoin is litecoin.

Those days are clearly gone. Ethereum has been around long enough as number 2 to have officially displaced Litecoin (which is great, but is basically just for holders).

Ethereum is in some trouble at the moment. If it survives the crisis, it will be much stronger. Many people will use it.

Re: 440$ reached

We just reached 440$ in Bitstamp, looks like train is already getting filled with people for the next station. I hope that everyone is riding with as many BTC as possible, this is gonna be a good one.

Fundamentals: looking fantastic
TA: Triangle broken and the only way is up.

The halving will do the rest, which coupled with the advancements in the software + scaling solutions, make a big full moon shinning in the distance, and by distance I mean anytime from days to 2-3 months max to reach new heights.
i dont think you are really with the time beacuse we already hit the 600 each so i dont think you know where you talking about.

I think the recent price rise is caused by the halving. The halving should double or triple the price from $440.

It is possible for the price to be around $800 during the halving time, then it will rise to $1200 within a year.

It seems the price is $650 now during the halving time. I think the will trade between $600 and 800 for some time.

Trading with a range can be a good consolidation. After a few months of consolidation, the price will rise again.

The bitcoin prise and who is making it i dont think there is just some one making the prices we are all making the price because we are selling and buying bitcoins.

Even though we do some trades, we are too small fish. Only the big whales can influence the price and they have the skills.

Most importantly, the whales have the funds to manipulate the market. So for me, I just follow them.

No one is making the Bitcoin price is is decided by allot of other things I do not know about. There are some people here on this forum that know precisely how the prise works and stuff.

the exchangers are making the price by using the bots as Mtgox did it in the past. it's so simple Smiley

Are you sure? there are a lot of exchanges and a lot of people that have an interest in exchange or mining, it's difficult a "trust" behind it...

there are only 5-6 big exchangers and these ones are forming a cartel(example: Bitstamp and Coinbase are twin brothers; same shareholders). they are using bots too.
The small exchangers are taking the price from the biggest ones . Smiley

it's so simple to manipulate the price.

That could be true, the price at the Chinese exchanges are around $590, but the bitstamp and coinbase are just $520.
