Nobody can grantee that, but I'm sure of that... Bitcoin will break $1000 barrier, it's just a matter of time (1-3 years). In this timeline we'll see a lot of price variations.

I am pretty sure the same people who are behind the accounts who have tried to get loans backed by AUM are probably all the same person (or group of people) and this person/group of people are likely somehow connected to the dev's of AUM, if not the devs themselves.

I enrolled a long time ago, but it doesn't look like you have added me yet. I checked the rules and I don't see anything that would disqualify me and you have plenty of open spots.

Re: BurtW arrested
by

BurtW was arrested on October 14, 2014, and bitmixer's forum auction bid was rejected by theymos without explination on December 7, 2014 (only 3 weeks later). This would fit a timeline of theymos getting some kind of subpoena asking for information about both the bitmixer.io account and the BurtW account, and if bitmixer.io was compromised as part of the arrest, it would fit the rough timeline that it would take for the government to take over the service and familiarize themselves with a good way to track all the coins that pass through it.

Interesting. I wonder if theymos can give us an explanation of his rejection.

Hey theymos are mixers banned from advertising on this forum or were you under pressure to reject that particular ad?
I don't think theymos is going to give any explanation regarding the rejection. A thread was opened shortly after the bid was rejected asking about the rejection and he never responded in the thread.

In no case do I think the scam was premeditated or that anyone other than FC was involved.

I know there can not be any proof for this claim, but would you disclose any logic behind this? What makes you  so confident to state above?

I dont often agree with jimmothy, but I do here. Its a weird kind of scammer that first returns 6x more to its investors than it ever collected in its IPO. if it was premeditated, it certainly wasnt a few years ago. And its an unbelievably incompetent scam when you pull the plug right at the moment where everyone is holding their wallets expecting the launch of a new product,  that could greatly increase his loot, just by selling (fake) BE300 bulk preorders or hashrate based on it.

Everything points to there being more to this story than FC pulling off a very weird and/or very incompetent scam. I still think its far more likely the discovery by authorities  of 'theft' / misappropriated electricity of their mine is what triggered this collapse. Conjuncture, for sure,  but more plausible than the incompetent scam theory.
They were able to return additional funds to investors because they were not a ponzi in a sense that there was no real hardware actually mining. The fact that they actually had hardware mining meant that they were able to payout whatever it earned (minus their fees) to shareholders/investors).

There were posts that had mentioned that either ASICMINER or AMHASH was having difficulty selling all of their mining power that AMHASH1 was supposed to be backed by. So it is possible that he decided that it would not be financially viable to continue running his company so he just stole everything that he could from his customers.

This goes to show why it is not good to ever own miners that you do not physically control as it will always be trivial for whoever physically controls your miners to steal them and to steal whatever mining revenue that your miners should generate

Re: Theymos Uneasy about Advertising for Bitmixer.io..

Sorry to bring this thread back to life, but maybe theymos had received either subpoena or other legal process related to bitmixer in the past (or more likely shortly prior to them bidding on the forum auctions).

If bitmixer was recently (as of when the OP was created) then it would make sense for them to want to advertise more in order to attract more illicit business.

Re: BurtW arrested

Here is a crazy thought. Maybe BurtW is behind bitmixer.io (or at least the government thinks he is behind it). I think running a bitcoin mixing service (some may call this a laundering service) could possibly fit the description of the allegation in the indictment.

BurtW did more or less publicly endorse bitmixer in their announcement thread and said that he had used them for 'a large amount' of bitcoin when they were only a few months old. He even said that he was considering to invest in them, and their minimum investment is 100 BTC.

What does not match is the dates on the indictment (it says from April 2013, and bitmixer created a bitcointalk thread in January 2014), although it is possible that government thinks he was behind bitmixer + some other mixing service or + something else.

All this of course is speculation

FC has been offline for almost two months now. When someone scams, they almost always will never allow you to hear from them again.

Instead of giving himself a raise prior to the company failing, he simply stole the mining equipment and mining revenue of AMHASH. It is as simple as that

Do you have any proof he stole the hardware and mining revenue?
You are kidding right? Investors have not been paid in close to two months, and the people behind AMHASH have not received any mining revenue for close to another month before that. This is despite the fact that investors should have been receiving mining revenue for that entire time.

I am really not sure how else you could see that FC is a thief and a scammer

I really doubt this is a scam because AM/FC has shown integrity matters more than profit time and time again (200 btc fee returned, prisma refunds, etc) , however the lack of professionalism cannot be ignored. Even if they do somehow make it out of this mess, I hope FC steps down and replaces himself with someone more qualified.

You were scammed by AM. Your money is gone.

Did you enjoy being in the denial stage with regards to AM for the last year?

We still have no hard proof that this was a scam, but I'm willing to admit it as soon as we get some. (for example if FC gave himself and other employees a massive raise while their company was heading towards bankruptcy, I'd admit they were scammers)

To me this looks like a failed business due to FC's lack of business skills. AM's chip was solid, they just fucked up everything else. (PR, sales, resource allocation, etc)

Fortunately I took whiff of the unprofessionalism around half a year ago and dumped all my shares when they refused to publish a financial report. At that point it was a gamble I wasn't willing to take. I didn't expect the company to go under, but I didn't see them making a huge comeback either.

Re: Silver coins for sale (I accept BTC, LTC, XRP etc), Free Shipping, Escrow Accept

Your free to purchase from other sellers, 90% junk silver carries a premium, and I don't know where you got $13 from, the cheapest bulk suppliers charge ~$14, and most have minimum order quantities. You should also note that I have the coins on hand, I know from first hand experience that many online coin dealers sell more then they have in stock at the time which can result in delays. Im in no rush to sell, my prices are better then similar on eBay, and if someone is interested in a larger order I would be willing to cut them a deal.

"prices similar to ebay" well there is your problem. ebay and paypal charge sellers 13% that they have to make up for....accepting bitcoin costs you at most 1%

apmex individual dollars of 90% are at $14 that is not bulk (imo LOL)
free shipping on orders over $99 as well...

and im guessing they would not have stock issues...

just pointing out...if you are serious about sales take the advise if not so be it

Apmex doesn't accept crypto-currencies, and an individual unit would cost closer to my asking price with shipping included. Again, Im not in a rush.
Well not accepting bitcoin will increase Apmex's cost so they should be charging higher prices, not lower ones. It would not be difficult to sell bitcoin and then use a credit card to buy on Apmex and get 1% cash back (with a rewards card) - the reason credit cards are so expensive to use is because there are hidden charges in the forum of higher prices that merchants needs to pay in order to make up for them themselves paying high fees.

Granted it is a free market, however I don't think your argument that you use to backup your prices is valid.

Re: Sick of the confirmation time...

LTC confirms much faster.
Each confirmation on the litecoin network is much less secure and less certain to actually be included in the litecoin blockchain. Additionally the litecoin network has a much lower hashrate, so it would take a lot less for someone to attack it.

For both of the above reasons even having one confirmation on the litecoin network is generally less secure then having a 0/unconfirmed transaction on the bitcoin network

generally speaking, a well propagated transaction, with a 'proper' tx fee that does not spend any unconfirmed inputs should be considered to be "safe" after only a few seconds on the bitcoin network

Based on this thread, and based on other BTC/CLAIM trading threads, it appears that BAC is a pillar of free market economics. From what I can tell, he is willing to find the right buyer who wants to buy at any price and is patient enough to find a seller who needs to sell at any price.

From the looks of it BAC has made at least a small fortune doing this

Re: Any possibility that these heists will work in our favor?
by

I personally do not think anything good (for bitcoin) will ever come out of any kind of bitcoin related heist.

There have been several calls immediately after previous heists for the fungibility of bitcoin to somehow decline, generally speaking via the call for the bitcoin that was stolen to be made impossible by the miners to ever be spent. The fact that additional government regulation is coming into the bitcoin world, in theory this could actually happen which would likely lead to the ultimate failure of bitcoin

Re: transaction validation

This is really not 100% accurate. You will only actually validate (confirm) a transaction if you actually 'find' a block at which point you will most likely (depending on your, or your pool's policy on transactions) confirm several hundred (if not thousand) transactions.

If you do not find any blocks then you will not validate/confirm any transactions.

Re: Importance of internet speed to mining

With stratum, your connection speed really does not matter (to a point). The stratum protocol will allow you use very little bandwidth even for a very large mining farm.

As long as you are using a wired internet connection that is considered "broadband" by modern standards you should be fine
