Re: When will Apple accept bitcoins?

Knowing Apple, they'd rather create their own Cryptocurrency that can be used only in their services. I wonder why they didn't yet.

I don't think Bitcoin is savior, for me it is more of a tool - if used properly, it may help you immensely. On the other side, if misused you may easily go bankrupt. Bitcoin, as every Crypto, is not a no-brain magic wand that will make you rich in an instant, you really have to put your time and effort to make real use of it.

Re: Confused as to why my project is not interested

With the amount of scam ISOs in the past no doubt people hesitate to invest in new ones, especially in ICO developed by only one person. I'm really sorry for you as it's clear you are passionate about your project,   but this is the situation on the market. Take another try, analyze why other ICO are successful, gather a team and work hard. The market is extremely competitive, the project has to be exceptional in order to survive.

Re: Would blockchain technologies continue Its development without cryptocurrency?
by
WiresAreComing
on 24/10/2018, 18:04:49 UTC
If one had a closer look on current ICO projects, it's hard not to notice that many of those projects can work without tokens. In some cases they're added just to be in the trend, no wonder we see lots of comments like 'does your project really need its own token?' This point, as well as governments looking into Blockchain solutions for governmental institutions, speaks for the idea that Blockchain will continue to develop even without Cryptocurrency. We can see this implication already, Cryptocurrency is only the most known part of Blockchain, not the whole technology.

Re: Is there any chance of having one global currency?
by
WiresAreComing
on 23/10/2018, 19:33:53 UTC
Single global currency can exist only in the global state situation, other than that the countries are too different to drop their currency in favor of the new common one. Euro is only the singular case, and still not all countries in the EU accepted it.
This is regarding official global currency. Meanwhile, there is room for 'unofficial' one - currency that is accepted everywhere without any issues, but not officially confirmed as global currency. In this case, Crypto - not necessarily Bitcoin - is the ideal option.

Re: Why is Russian President "Putin" talking about world war 3 ??
by
WiresAreComing
on 22/10/2018, 18:08:18 UTC
Russia takes quite weird position thinking that the whole world is against it. It is, however, the other way around: Russia itself is against the world seeing every opposing country as an enemy.
Russian government feels vulnerable, that's the reason for such aggressive and bizarre statements. I only hope that these statements will remain just words used in political discussion and will never come true. Fallout vibes are great only in a computer game.
The saddest part is that many people fall to propaganda of mutual hatred. If you remember the World Cup in Russia last summer, the situation is quite the opposite. There seems to be no hatred among common people, although hatred is created and stimulated by government's agenda.

Re: Cryptocurrency Enthusiasts Should Watch a Lot of Old Westerns
by
WiresAreComing
on 22/10/2018, 17:58:14 UTC
Went LOL at first, but then I realised that what you suggest is very true: the crypto world is exactly like the lawless Wild West portrayed in spaghetti Westerns.

Your observation is very insightful indeed. Thanks!

Yes, but this is gradually changing, with the latest ICO's implementing better security measures, escrow systems, etc. The ideal should be to provide the freedom of the wild-west without the imminent risk of death (in crypto's case, getting scammed).

If blockchain tech and AI is implemented properly, we'll have a good balance of transparency and security.

Love westerns though.

"You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig."

-The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

We should all strive to be those with the loaded guns, but sometimes, we have to dig first.

Brilliant reference to the The Good, the Bad, the Ugly.
I also like westerns, but if we really think about it there's not that much in common. Only the general spirit is present: this is the land of digital opportunity with no laws over it.
Wild West was a period in history that eventually finished and gave start to the next one - drawing analogy I wonder that is the next Era after the Crypto.

People always tend to compare things to each other, even if these things have very little basis for comparison. In this case, you have two most popular Cryptocurrencies - they're just bound to be compared, even though they're based on different concepts.

Re: Earth’s Greatest Threats
by

All in all, humans and everything created by them are the threat to Earth. But - is it really threat to Earth? it may be rendered not-suitable for living, as it was during some period of time after meteor falling almost wiped the whole life on the planet, but look how it is now - almost no traces of past catastrophe.
It`s more correct to say 'threats to humanity', as nothing will happen to Earth.

Re: ICO themselves are destroying the institution of the ICO!?
by

Not all ICOs are the same. It's not quite right to generalize in this case: it is scam ICO that ruin ICO's reputation, not just any ICO.
On the other hand, the market is extremely bloated with hundreds of ICO coins being listed on different exchanges. It may be confusing for investors and traders, but I can`t say it`s only negative: current environment is the natural selection of coins, where only the strongest can withstand.

Re: Will China’s latest move spell the end for Cryptocurrencies?
by

Quoting the article:
Quote
The government’s policies have the most effect on how these firms do their business. While the country has banned ICOs and crypto trading a long time ago, China seems to still favor the use and further development of blockchain technology. The country’s president, Xi Jinping, praised it’s potential to allow China to make significant economic breakthroughs if used properly.

While the ban is certainly bad for Crypto - even reduction of BTC by 10-20% is huge as it`ll drop other coins as well, it is still good to know that they don`t abandon Blockchain tech altogether.

Re: What do you think about crypto currency issued by the government?
by
WiresAreComing
on 20/10/2018, 11:59:20 UTC
Cryptocurrency issued by any government is no longer Crypto - it is just currency that uses blockchain technology. I put it this way because the government will not issue anything without its own interest, thus if they issue Cryptocurrency it is bound to lose its essential properties - decentralization and anonymity.

The only thing is that it will not be beneficial for the government, as blockchain is transparent and almost impossible to control, that`s supposed to bring end to frauds and corruption. I wouldn`t count on government Crypto in this case.

Re: Talking about the death penalty in China.

The number of China’s annual death sentence is considered a state secret and has not yet been announced. It is widely estimated in the academic world that about 8,000 people are sentenced to death each year in China, almost 20 times the total number of people sentenced to death in other parts of the world. China is currently preparing to issue a new version of the Criminal Code with the intention of canceling 9 articles for death.

Even if this is an estimation, the number is still more than impressive. I wonder what does it speak for: excessive list of death penalty articles, or that death penalty doesn`t work as an effective preventive measure to prevent further crimes and people are still willing to risk their lives to pursue their illegal goals.

Re: who will vote for Putin?

As Stalin said way back in the 1900s, "It's not he who votes that counts, but he who counts the votes."

Cool

That`s so true. Vote rigging and propaganda eliminate the very essence of the elections.
Btw, may be it is paranoid, but I don`t believe Putin himself makes his own decisions. There should be some secret board that makes decisions, he`s just declaring them.

hat's the double standards of the Democrats and the liberals,  But having an affair shouldn't be a big deal as long as it doesn't interfere with them doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Theoretically yes, it shouldn`t make a big deal - but it still makes a great opportunity for negative campaigning. Everybody may have affairs, but politicians are under constant pressure of media attention.
They should be extra careful, everything could be bloat out of proportion and used against them.

Re: What are the repercussions of a device capable of uploading info to the brain?
by
WiresAreComing
on 16/10/2018, 16:29:56 UTC
I see more of a negative side here. With the current spread of fake news that becomes impossible to regulate, I can only imagine how far worse it`ll be in the future.

As neuralink is a network device, it raises the whole range of stuff related to it: malware, antiviruses, spam filters etc. which we we`ll have to account for.

As for learning 4 year info in 4 months, I`d not say it is exactly learning - you simply download information to your brain, but you lack your own logical conclusions that you obtain while you learn stuff traditional way.

I guess it will not be "learning" exactly. But if a virus is also "download" wouldn't it still be up to us to reject it the same way we could reject being brainwashed? Is the risk too high to have the ability to gain knowledge about something?

We still have no idea how the brain will react to receiving loads of information in a way that is so different from conventional learning, or any of its derivatives.
May be there will be no way to regulate what we receive via the Neurolink apart from software measures, as the brain itself won`t have capability to regulate incoming info?
Btw, we already have the ability to gain knowledge about anything. It is dependent on the amount of time we wish to spend, but it is still present.

But now I see a trend that makes me cringe.  Bigotry and prejudice are still ripe and getting pungent, but now it's being directed at white men.  And it's all coming from the Left leaning Progressives, who are the ones that spent decades screaming for racial justice.  Now they want to subject those who founded and built this great country to their brand of Justifiable Racism.

Same cringe here. Judging by social media articles, now it somehow seems that you`re supposed to be ashamed of being infamous 'privileged white male'. Somehow you are to blame for not belonging to any minorities - which sounds extremely absurd. It is all the same old story - take an initially good idea: i.e. fighting racism, body positivity - and bloat it totally out of proportion.

by

It is rather common situation as bounty hunters sell their coins to get immediate profit, they`re not interested in the project development itself.
The other reason may be that as the hype goes down people lose interest in the project and want to get rid of the tokens right now.

Religion may be not important to an individual (for me, for example), but one can`t but admit its influence on human culture and society all over the world.
It gives people purpose, something to rely on, something to believe in - it is called 'Opium for the peoople' for a reason, after all.

Re: Number of altcoins keep increasing!
by
WiresAreComing
on 12/10/2018, 16:14:59 UTC
The market is indeed oversaturated with tons of different coins that may be very confusing for new traders and investors. Nevertheless, try to look at it from the other point of view: everybody can develop their own coin and present it to the public. After that, it is up to the public to decide if this coin is worth it or not - the market will sort it all out. The most potent and reliable coins will survive, the other ones will fade - consider it natural selection of the coins.
