I think the OEM's came to realize for the marginal savings in making these P106 boards, their is no reason to setup a separate SKU and have such a niche product. Might as well just keep the production lines rolling on standard cards and pump out items that EVERYONE can use.

on 17/04/2018, 00:48:57 UTC
Hey all, Fishmonger here.
I build and sell custom PCIE power cables for mining rigs through my online company, AST.
I use high quality pure copper cables, crimp AND solder my terminals to ensure maximum power transfer.
All terminals are genuine Molex, bought direct from distributors.

Yes, prices are higher than the cheap China cables since I make everything per order, and it is all done with quality by hand.
Video showing what I do, and why I do it: https://youtu.be/F6XAtwbR7Xw

Examples of some items are here: [eBay prices are eBay prices, I sell direct for a discount, depending on qty]

Lot 6 PCS GPU Mining Power Cable [High Power]

First off, let me preface by saying that I read all 30+ pages from start to finish last night after being tipped by a post on reddit.

They say crypto is like the "wild west" right now, and I can fully agree. We've had coins come and go, we've had great marketing teams and we've had car salesman [Bitconneeeeeeeecctt!] and we have had some very knowledgeable, professional figures enter the space, as well as script kiddies looking to make a quick buck.

If you can't distinguish between the two based purely on the context posted in this thread, then you really shouldn't be investing large sums of money in crypto.

This world is filled with innovators and duplicators. In the end, who do you really think will succeed?.

Please drop your dev fee to 0.5% or less and I will switch.
Hell, pool operators have to manage servers and pay for hosting etc and they take less than what dev takes away.
Actualy if you drop your dev fee many people would switch from DSTM or EWBF and you would gain more money.

Agreed - it's funny how they don't realize this....
unless...

wait for it...

They are all made from the same dev!

I have been using them actually, I was the #8 miner for a while, account b14ab3Bm1zjySJ6C77Wr293B79U3Kd7AaP1.
Their was a good several hours where nothing was happening though, and maybe just because low blocks were found I'm not sure, but I swapped off back to Flypool for a while.

I'm sure I'll be back on Forgetop again, gonna so some maintenance this weekend on the rigs.

edit:
Annnnnd then I just looked at your post history and you are just an ad spammer. Booo!!!!

Makes me want to swap to a different pool now.

[ANN] Simple GUI Miner: An open source, free GUI for DSTM Equihash Miner
by
WoW_Fishmonger
on 08/03/2018, 03:12:59 UTC
Hey all, Fishmonger here.
I'm usually known on the interwebs by like 45 people for my World of Warcraft fishing bot, but recently I've been getting into crypto mining and enjoying it.
I have mainly NVIDIA cards, and started concentrating on equihash since it was the most profitable. After checking out different miners, I settled on DSTM for its speed and reliability.

However, while I can certainly make use of command line, I always felt a lightweight GUI is best, especially when done right and kept streamlined.

Enter "Fishmongers Simple GUI Miner" [catchy name I know] which is a script written in Autohotkey that adds a GUI to easily communicate with the popular 0.5.7 version of the DSTM miner.
Link and info here:
https://wowfishmonger.weebly.com/mining.html
Youtube Video with info and my sexy face: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnYofYuPue8

Totally open source, totally free to use, totally something I've been doing in my spare time.

Why would I need something like this you ask?
Well, I don't know, maybe you don't, but I felt that maybe their was a need for something that combined the ease of use of the Nicehash client with the freedom of using on any pool you want.

Is this any better than DSTM version 0.5.7?
No, it is not a miner program, just a GUI that you can use to access the DSTM miner. It just adds some ease of use so you don't have to meddle with command line or multiple .BAT files for different configurations, or some other functions that DSTM does not nativly support.

Do you charge anything? Skim hash? Eh?
Nope, however the default DSTM miner does have a 2% fee which goes directly to him. Nothing goes to me.

Do I need Autohotkey to use this?
If you want to use the .AHK script and run it directly, then yes. Otherwise I do have a download available with a compiled .EXE you can use that does not require Autohotkey.

Is it safe?
The code is in plain text, you can read everything. Read away, but please understand I'm self taught so don't ridicule my lack of standards.

What is this MINER_DSTM.EXE file that is in there as well?
That is the 0.5.7 version of the DSTM miner. I renamed it so I wouldn't accidentally overwrite the original when I was testing, but left as-is so the program can specifically call out and interact with that window and not interfere with any other versions you may also be running at the same time. The SHA256 of that file 100% matches the 0.5.7 version of DSTM miner since, you know, its the same file just renamed.

So again, why would I need this?
Maybe you don't, but for instance I am a big fan of open source software and the community around it. I made this for myself, but for others who also may be interested in doing something similar. I also don't like some of the hardcore miners out their like Awesome Miner that have way too many buttons and settings that I don't need. I am totally fine with using MiningPoolHub and having it auto convert coins for me, and my GUI will allow me to have it always run in the background and start mining when it detects my system is idle, just like NiceHash legacy.

I'm always looking for suggestions on things I can add to this as well, so feel free to comment and let me know what I can do or what you think.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you like what you see and you want to buy me a beer, I'd appreciate the tips Smiley

I must say I'm astonished with how much DSTM dev makes lol, the real key to success? Clearly it is to build a miner software!

Agreed. Almost makes me wonder if this DSTM guy works for NVIDIA.... You would think their programmers would be the best at using CUDA.

And look, I am all for giving the guy what he is owed for making the free to download software, but considering he is making nearly $500,000 a month, and has been for several months, how many private jets and mansions and yachts do we need to buy him before the 'mandatory donation fee' is too much?

IMHO, we are there, and have surpassed that point.

He could scale the fee back to 1% and STILL be making like $250,000 a month. And with a lower fee, less people like us would be reading threads like this.....

by

Let's use our brains here for a second....
New user with 11 posts, goes out of his way to take a miner to remove 2% dev fee and make it free to download for you, "cause he wants to stick it to the man" yet doesn't release source and claims he is not making any money off of it.

People are monitoring ports and noticing all sorts of sketchy stuff....

If it walks like a duck.....

Just pay the damn 2% fee to DSTM you greedy bastards. Don't like it? Don't use it. Use a different miner.
Don't like the other miner? Use something else.
Don't like that other one? Make your own.
Can't make your own? Quit fkn complaining about giving someone $0.02 for every $0.98 you earn.....

I don't have a problem with the 2% fee, as others have said, if his free software earns me $1000 a month, I am tipping him what... $20?
I'll give my waitress / bartender more than that on a single night out of dinner and drinks with friends and family.

Just put that into perspective...
Yes, he is EARNING mad money from the single tiny donations from millions of people, but that's how you need to be successful in this world.
Look at Android and IOS apps. Many developers charge $1 for their product, hoping to gain a tiny fraction of income off of LOTS of individuals.
Look at people looking for $1 donations from people on Twitch / Youtube.... those pennies add up.

In this global economy, that is the future.

Remember office space?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZjCQ3T5yXo

My only issue is if he is LYING about the %.
If he says 2% but takes 3%? Then yes, that is BS, and I would support bypassing his lying.

So yeah dont be fooled by just whats shown in the software. Verify always pool side.

Exactly.Wink  i can not download this Bminer (Windows Defender reports virus).
Dstm shows 990h/s on the 1080Ti + 1060, and ~ 950h/s pool side.
Ewbf shows 960h/s, and ~ 900h/s pool side.

Windows Defender thinks bloody near EVERYTHING is a virus if it didn't come from the Microsoft Store.
HORRIBLE high rate of false positives, while giving the worse protection against REAL viruses of any "major" anti-virus program, in the tests I've seen quite a few sites do.

50% of one core on a 8370E, or 50% of ALL 8 CORES total? If it's the latter, that's WHY this miner would have issues on dual-core CPUs with running at all.

What the heck is a "N,K-96,5"?

50% on all cores... yea, I know...
But the odd thing was like I said, I didn't see any improvements with that option on....

Morning everyone!
New account, just registered, and wanted to give some data / information on what I've found so far.
For reference, I've been using Excavator 1.38a and Bminer 3.0.
I have an EVGA GTX 1050 SC, and an EVGA GTX 1060 3GB. FWIW the 1060s give some pretty good hash / $ investment compared to the 1060 since I got it for $190 after rebates. I think the 192bit GDDR [vs 128bit] of the 1060 helps. I know the extra CUDA cores certainly do.
I just mine in the background / overnight on my computer to earn a couple extra bucks. If I can convert my mining and eventually turn it into USD [even a couple hundred bucks] over the course of a year, it will help pay for my alcohol habit Smiley

The data I have below is not an apples - apples comparison since I could not get both miners to be happy with the same offsets in Afterburner, so use the information accordingly. At some point when I have more time I'll lower the clock / memory offsets and do a 1:1 test for both miners.

Also note, that with the "=polling-true" option in bminer I did see a significant increase in CPU on my FX-8370E, started out at about 25%-30% and 6 hours later was close to 50%. With that option disabled, CPU was less than 5%. I also did not see a significant change in hash rates with it on or off. This may be due to the video cards and/or settings I am using. Who knows.

My main concern was seeing how accurate the hash reporting of Bminer [well, any miner really] when compared to the mining pool, in this case it is Nanopool. Later on I will do better testing regarding efficiency and then of course top speed. I have 2 profiles in Afterburner, one for lower power draw [NORMAL] and one for higher power draw [FAST], as are labeled in the chart.

My first test with accuracy had a 6 hour overnight run of Bminer reporting an average hash of 465, while Nanopool reported 462.4. Those results are within the margin of error.

Hope this helps some people out. I'll continue to fiddle with things and either update this or post more information later.
