Re: Is Buying Shares of a BTC ETF a good way to invest in Bitcoin?

As long as it fits your need and you don't want to learn about the discipline of self custody then yes.

But if you're interested in self custody basically truly owning your BTC then it's better if you buy BTC directly.

I guess each one come with perks and disadvantage, with ETF you won't worry about taking care of your seed phrase, backing up, etc although you don't truly own your BTC.

Re: Safely storing bitcoins

I was reading a news article saying that bitcoins will not be safe once we have powerful quantum computers. Is there a good alternative way to store bitcoins safely in such a situation  ?
There are some solution to this already on the way.

However, if quantum computer can break bitcoin's security, it can also break banking security and etc.

By the time that happens, you'd also be concerned about other things that are put behind some form of encryption that now can be solved by quantum computers.

Those price are just forecast and usually people are repeating a psychologically good price mark as a target.

In reality bitcoin will be like real estate property or gold. The value just gonna go up overtime as long as the inflation still exists.

It's as simple as that.

Such can never happen with bitcoin, since bitcoin creation, and the multiple all time high, Satoshi wallet have remained untouched and a deliberately liquidity provided by the bitcoin creator, being decentralised and with zero owner interference, if wyou want to hold any coin, just hold bitcoin.

Exactly why I'm so bullish about bitcoin, even the creator isn't touching his coin at all.

Compare it with most of altcoins out there where their creators are reserving their own allocation to eventually cash out even with vesting a cash out is a cash out and that shows that they're only here temporarily.

Bitcoin is built different.

# If You Sent to the wrong address?

$ You learned about step and finality.
Experienced this first hand when I was still so noob I don't even understand how crypto works.

Mistakenly sending to the wrong address, trying to find solution to revert transaction, turns out bitcoin is irreversible which is the reason why bitcoin is considered decentralized aside from the proof of work mechanism.

A life long paypal user switching to bitcoin and I find it superior.

Something like this will be good for bitcoin.

Aside from bitcoin being recognized as hedge against inflation, more adoption is never a bad thing. POS device that accepts BTC is really needed to boost the adoption because most of online shops only few steps away from accepting crypto if not for the additional complexity and regulation.

With this they can be rest assured that integration will be seamless.

You know it’s easy to say it, but it’s hard to practice when you’re in the real situation. The rise of bitcoin keeps us thrilled and excited, particularly when there are price increase visible. Although your suggestion may possibly work for you, but I doubt others will bite that.

However, one thing is certain, if you are just patient, you will never go the wrong way. And never underestimate the essence of discipline. Know what’s best for your investment and get rid of those that will harm it.
The only way normal people can keep holding bitcoin despite the massive price increase is when they have clear target where they gonna realize their profit such as $1 million per bitcoin, etc.

These clear target helps us to not get shaken and realize our profit too soon. I also personally have my own personal target and keep holding despite the rally. Had i become a paper hand I would've probably sold at previous ATH but nah, I know bitcoin can be worth more.

Like other mentioned if you're concerned about security, yield bearing stablecoin is the way to go.

The only thing you should be concerned in my opinion when you're staking stablecoin is the smart contract itself. Just make sure the smart contract is properly audited by proper and reputable audit company so it won't get stolen by hackers.

I don't even think depegging is a concern at this point since GENIUS bill passed.

I doubt that honestly.  Tongue  Raphinha is in his best form these days. Why would Hansi Flick decide to cut him from the starting lineup to "rest"?

It doesn't make sense while he is one of top goal contributors. Rashford will need to earn his place there. He will need to work hard to stay fit and impress the manager. I can't say he has been in his best physical shape recently.

It's a non sense decision by Barcelona. They wasted 270k weekly to sign someone who will always be benched the whole time because of his competitor is still in the prime performance. I'm sorry, but it seems no place available for Rashford. I don't think he can compete with Raphina for LW position.

Re: Am I a bad father for letting my daughter gamble?

Now, I’m a father, and my 17-year-old daughter is starting to gamble too playing slots and even doing some sports betting. I don’t know how to feel, part of me feels oddly proud of what she’s doing.

What does that make me?

For me, anyone below 18 years old can still be considered as a kid, and i'd not allow him/her to gamble. I consider it as underage gambling (illegal), and can destroy his mentality. I'd rather make him/her stay away from gambling until he will be above 18 years old, and can gamble legally, but still under control of his emotion.

I know different person, different rates of mental development. However, i don't wanna see young generation got addicted, and suffer massive financial lose even before he's worked.

That's basically forget your own asset and come up later when the news make it to the headlines.

I usually just let it sit, knowing that the price will eventually reach 1 million dollar each. I'm not even tempted to sell right now because market is bullish, institutional investors are getting in and I have my doubt that bearish cycle will ever come again.

It's all about self control you know because at the end of the day you still have access to your privkey, if you want to hold long term then make up the decision to hold long term and stick to the plan.

Have encountered similar situation as well, those cards payment are unnecessarily complicated and gate keep certain region for some reason. With bitcoin you just send the money and be done with it.

Also there's no risk of our card credentials getting leaked that could harm us financially. Even the fee is cheaper in most of the case and it's pretty fast as well.

Bitcoin is just that good for payment method.

Ekitike probably cost Liverpool for €95m. That's a lot of money. Also you said that he's cheaper than Isaak, but i'd consider him riskier bet than Isaak. There's only 25m gap between his price and Isaak. I'd go for Isaak 120m rather than him, but sadly Newcastle would never sell him.

Some transfers require risk, and risk can lead to the trophy you desire. Liverpool took a risk considering the cost of this transfer, but if it works out the way they want, no one will remember the transfer fee. I think major clubs should make similar transfers and bring in surprise players.
I just don't wanna see Ekitike to have the same path as Nunez. He's far expensive than nunez, and not PL proven. I expected Liverpool learned from their mistake in Nunez's transfer, but they weren't.

Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A)
by

on 20/07/2025, 15:34:08 UTC

Agreed, £50m looks too small for Lookman, but Atalanta was a club that often increase the price of its player. Since no serious interest come for him, and it's free for them to increase his price. He's solid forward, and any club that will get him as a new forward is good.

The problem is that £50m still relatively big for some club such as Inter Milan or even Barcelona. I think other clubs may be thinking for twice in getting him with such price.

It's also possible for him to stay much longer there if he still gets no club till the end of summer window.
You remember when Rasmus Hojlund was sought after by Man UTD, how much did the English club pay for him? Over a£100m plus and it's not like the Danish player was better than Lookman but it gets to his (Ademola) turn, they reduce the price. Is it because they are trying to punish him for a mistake he doesn't know about or they are really desperate to offload him from their team? Believe you me, if he eventually enters any other Italian outfit, I bet you he'd gladly wreak havoc on Atalanta should they meet.
For now, it's just Inter that's the Italian team that we've heard about coming for the Nigerian and like you said the club may think to reduce his asking price if they don't get much offers.
Lookman's willing leave because Atalanta who treated him badly. So, it's right if he wanna join in other italian club to continue his career. The problem is that Inter is not keen in fulfilling his club's asking price. Inter already sent first bid, which is around €40M. However, it gets rejected as his club still being so harsh to sell him for €50M.

I think paying him for €50M is a way too much. I'm also concerning about how many big transfers from Atalanta often turned flop after leaving. The better Inter to get off the table, then pursue young and potential forward.

That's obvious Liverpool needs Diaz replacement, then another new defender after Ekitike. I guess they can finish their signing in the summer window if they get new LW and CB.

I'll be so happy if they will start to hunt Rodrygo. However, it sounds unreal to me.

And we have got the here we go!  Smiley

Ekitiké is officially joining Liverpool. However his cost will be really huge. But on the other hand he is cheaper than Isak at least. I don't think Newcastle would let him go under his current value (120 million euros).

Re: Reviews on trading platforms: Binance, OKX, Coinbase, Kraken, and TradeUp.net —
by

on 20/07/2025, 03:33:22 UTC
Hey everyone! I’m planning to start crypto trading and trying to pick the best platform to kick off with. I’m looking at Binance, OKX, Coinbase, Kraken, and I recently came across something called TradeUp — haven’t heard much about it though. Would love to get real opinions to figure out what’s beginner-friendly.
Binance seems popular with lots of tools, but I heard it can be a bit overwhelming at first. OKX and Coinbase look simpler, but I’m not sure about their fees. Kraken is supposed to be solid, though I haven’t used it yet. TradeUp.net caught my eye because of some cool loyalty programs, but there aren’t many reviews online. Anyone got experience, especially with TradeUp or something similar?
Speaking frankly all of those exchange you mentioned have loyalty program. From launchpools, alpha, presales, etc. So the feature you mentioned isn't something special and those event from big exchange doesn't only happen once in a while, it happens every time there is new listing.

I would recommend to just use the one that's reputable. We are talking about money in a 3rd party custody here, you don't want things like ftx to play out again because if you're dealing with 3rd rate exchange you're more likely to lose your money instead of getting reimbursement like ftx.

It's always better to use tier 1 exchange.

Re: Can Bitcoin kill other crypto?
by
X-ray
on 20/07/2025, 03:30:47 UTC
It’s not bitcoin that kills other cryptos, but altcoins and meme coins end up as dead coins because they aren’t developed well enough. They lack the power and utility cases to withstand every market challenges that arise. In short, they are weak and useless coins, that’s why they can’t survive long enough, unlike bitcoin which I think is good and tested enough.

Bitcoin isn’t intended to kill other cryptos, but bitcoin leads them instead, but due to lack of market demand, these coins end up dying too soon and vanish in the crypto market.
That's certainly true, altcoin narrative shifts every cycle and there's always formerly top altcoins that become abandoned and unused eventually have zero trading volume as well as close to zero on chain transactions and there's new altcoin that's hyped up.

BTC has been here for quite sometime and from the dominance alone it seems BTC just occasionally dominate the market then there's time for altcoin rotation, for the people who seek more profit and for the most part it has nothing to do with all those dead altcoins.

Altcoins should be more concerned about other altcoin taking over their position.

That sounds great, I'm expecting a significant increase into the inflow of BTC.

More capital is always better for the market, making it more resilient and make it more liquid.

Since bitcoin has been having massive growth over the course of decade, it's only normal that anyone want to invest in it.
