It would require XMR prices to rise some more before I could afford it.

When we reach the point that regulations are more noticeably harming bitcoin fungibility, Monero has a chance to become the most popular currency if the worldwide hashrate increases dramatically.
Right now there is not enough hashing power to properly secure Monero from a wealthy and motivated attacker.
I think there is no question that if Monero was launched at the same time as Bitcoin that Monero would be the dominant coin. Instead Bitcoin had a big head start and benefits from economies of scale (merchant adoption, user base and network hashrate).

Instead of talking about the price where we may want to sell Monero, we should talk about the merchants where we would like to spend it.
It is up to all of us to build the ecosystem. Reach out and introduce decision makers to Monero.

White wants to play Kc3 and Kb4. We can stop that now with Rc6 and collect the h5 pawn later.

Re: CryptoNote technical discussion and Chess Challenge
Monero yesterday completed its first planned hard fork, implementing several changes:
1. Block time 1 minute -> 2 minutes (with block reward also doubled)
2. Minimum block size increased to 60 KB (50% increase from the previous 20 KB considering the block time change)
3. Minimum mixin requirement on all transactions (with some special exceptions for existing "dust")
4. No new "dust" allowed.
There were some minor glitches with forks of the pool software (though the original open source software apparently works fine), but other than that everything seems to have gone well.
This is an important milestone for Monero. All of the changes above would be very controversial and difficult for Bitcoin to adopt.

Some good news. Look at that nice uptick in volume and price!
Bitcoin will always have the highest volume. Litecoin has been second (worldwide) for a long time. Monero and Ethereum both have a good chance to challenge Litecoin for both wordwide trading volume and valuation within the next few years.

Re: Monero vs Boolberry Chess Challenge and CryptoNote technical discussion
i bought some moneros back in the day from poloniex. but due to the wallet being undeveloped i left it in the exchange hanging back in 2014. im checking my old emails now and i see a witdrawal from poloniex. dont remember much but i think i been messing with the wallet client but been getting frustrated with it so sort of left it. now checking back on my wallet.bin (48LPNA9CEZi3aPzzDp8JgWAXmb1dsmuFpZiRBhxzXNW33omK3Wgt84WRNMhGVZXKnRgv4GXyFaorHWJK7rsaHvk989Fj5xN) and in poloniex the withdrawal been made to 45ESdpPWdpX2NR5HYE4ZKKdSPdR1owwfxJEDBWcKeZPyE9vat2VBNxK1CmoVq4N5SjEtunHhQQdKKBSGHbebikgnDK4RQ5i. i searched my whole hdd and couldnt find the wallet.bin to which the funds were withdrawn to.. transaction id is 447b8dc90d438d9519bc425528e73bf04564cae9da8321a840189c5bd2caa802 the thing is, im not that big of a noob to withdraw into a wrong address.. or am i? wanted to find out whether those funds went on somewhere else from 45ES address. thank you!
Do you remember your seed words? Hopefully you wrote them down somewhere safe. If so you can use them to recover your Monero even if you deleted wallet.bin
If you have your seed words, don't post them in this thread. Keep them secure and use this command:
It's my opinion that white should play BxKn and then proceed to decimate the pawn structure
You might want to elaborate on "decimate the pawn structure". It seems to be that after Bxc6 bxc6 black can capture on b3 and a3 just as quickly as white can capture on d6 and c6. If your goal is to trade everything off and force a draw that would be a good idea.
Instead of worrying about who placed that buy order you should be focusing on making it easier for more people to aquire and spend Monero. Contact Chinese exchanges and encourage businesses to accept Monero payments. With the new release usability will increase while CPU resource requirements will decrease.
Are there any recent updates on this? It should be high priority. Why can't the first page be updated now now before the multi language support is added? It would be a big improvement over the status quo.
