Re: Ledger Nano: is it secure?
by
XXX_BTC1@
on 03/11/2017, 06:54:55 UTC

Suppose i am using Electrum with Ledger Nano S.
When i send a payment, i must manually enter the PIN on the USB device (source: https://ledger.groovehq.com/knowledge_base/topics/how-to-setup-electrum-nano-slash-nano-s )

But i wonder if the Nano shows me the transaction details as well ( destination address(es), amount(s) ).
If not, i don't consider this solution very safe.

Suppose a virus on my PC acts as a man-in-the-middle when the payment command is sent from Electrum to the USB device.
The virus may change the payment destination address on-the-fly after the command goes out of Electrum wallet but before it enters the USB bus to reach the device.

Anyone of you that has a Nano and can confirm that it displays transaction info upon PIN request ?

ledger nano s is the hardware wallet we have to save out bit coins and lite coins, zcash coins, dash coins, ethereum coins and ripple coins. so you have to buy and keep your bit coin in to this wallet and hold long time. ledger nano s is the best and secure wallet. it can carry easily and good for security.

Re: windows phone app
by
XXX_BTC1@
on 03/11/2017, 06:40:55 UTC
does anyone know what is happening with windows phone wallet apps?

I had two of those, one for coinbase and one for blockchain, and both worked beautifully until recently.

I had them uninstalled because I had to lend my phone to someone for a time and I did not want any trouble.

now... I went to the store to reinstall and they are both GONE!

Coinbase support says they "do not offer" it.  Blockchain.info links this new (and improved) blockchain wallet app in the store,
but it is not working properly. When sending coin it ignores decimal point, so if I try sending 0.012 BTC it will actually send 12 BTC.
It is probably written by some rich dude who does not care about fractions of BTC

Funniest part is that there seems to be an old style blockchain wallet still in store on web site, it is only downloadable as a xap file, but I cant install it, says "your company app cannot be installed".

Looks to me like some Microsoft new policy.  Somehow they decided if it is available on iPod it should NOT be available on WinPhone.

I am seriously thinking about ditching this windows phone for good.  Do they make problems like this for Android users?
no you don't save lot of money in to your desktop wallet. because you try to use this wallet. if you keep more money in to desktop wallet then you have to facing more problems so no need about that wallet. you just use another best and secure wallet it is great and secure wallet. so you have to try this wallet.

Re: Best mobile-friendly web wallet that supports QR scanning?

Notwithstanding the fact that I'd always prefer a local, native wallet over a web solution.

What would you people consider to be the best mobile friendly web wallet? It should be able to scan QR codes with webcam.

I'm familiar with the blockchain.info wallet which meets the criteria, but with all the security fuss, I'd hardly recommend it. However I've tried several others and they all seem to lack proper mobile support (e.g. non responsive website or no ability to scan QR).

Curious to hear about other people's suggestions and experiences!

hey you tried mycelium wallet it has great security so once you have to try and use it. most of the people using to this wallet. it has like that facility qr scanning so once try to this wallet. now most of the people trying to this wallet for their bit coin so once you have to try this wallet. blockchain.info also you have to try here this can be provide security. so check once and try.

Re: Help me choose a bitcoin wallet.

on 03/11/2017, 06:22:05 UTC
I've been searching for wallets and I'm not sure which to use.

My situation:
I want to try gambling on Fortune Jack. If i win something I'm simply going to cash out and never use bitcoin again, the same if i lose. Or maybe ill gamble again every once in a little while. But that's practically the full extent of my use for bitcoin.

So based on my personal use of bitcoin, what would be the best wallet for me?
I'm new to bitcoin in general so if someone could explain the process of selling as well, i would appreciate it.
Peace//

electreum is the best wallet so once you have to try and use this wallet for your need. in this wallet have security and great saving power of bit coin. if we have to reavel our passwords and private keys to others nothing to worry about this. so electreum is the best and secure wallet for using. you try to use this wallet never leave this.and it is easy to change bit coin to other currency so once youhave to check and use electreum wallet. if you interest to use hardware wallet then try once trezor wallet it can also provide security to your bit coin and your private keys.

I was searching for bitcoin desktop wallet comparisons, but could not find any. There are a few articles on bitcoin wallets but all just describing the wallets and not actually comparing them.
Can the wallets be compared? Is one better than another?

if you want best wallet then go and search electreum wallet it has great security so you have to use this wallet for your bit coin. if suppose you had shared your private key with your friends or who already using bit coin like that people your bit coin has no problem. so you try to use it and next hardware wallet like trezor it is also on of the most secure wallet for using. so once check about this wallet and try. it can also keep secure your bit coins.in the market we have more wallets but in that you have to choose one of the best and secure wallet that is electreum and trezor wallet.

on 03/11/2017, 06:02:21 UTC
I'm figuring out which client to use. Could we discuss which one is better? Major factors to consider: security and ease of use.

electreum is the free software but it is more safe and secure. it can secure bit coin payments more secure. here has secure two factor authentication also. so no doubt about the security. electreum verifies your bit coin transaction in blockchain. electreum can run on any software so it has great security. electreum is fast, speed and secure wallet.in this has one great opportunity you can export your bit coin private key with bit coin users but it has no loss. and keep your keys offline and go online with a watching only wallet.

Re: TREZOR SECURITY UPDATE

TREZOR Firmware Security Update — 1.5.2

Today, SatoshiLabs released a security update to your TREZOR; a new firmware version — 1.5.2 — was pushed out to all users. This update fixes a security issue which affects all devices with firmware versions lower than 1.5.2.

TREZOR Wallet will notify you about this update. Please make sure you have your recovery seed nearby, before starting the update process. Refer to the User Manual if you need assistance with the firmware update. For users with Bootloader version 1.3.0, please consult this guide first.

It is important to note that this is not a remote execution attack. To exploit this issue, an attacker would need physical access to a disassembled TREZOR device with uncovered electronics. It is impossible to do this without destroying the plastic case.

If your device does not leave your presence, your coins are safe. Moreover, if you have a passphrase enabled and actively use it, your coins are safe. Yet, we strongly recommend you to update your TREZOR anyway.

We are not releasing a detailed description of the issue today to give enough time for users to update and for other hardware wallets based on TREZOR to distribute an update. We will publish a detailed report in the coming days.

How do I know that my TREZOR has not been broken into?
In order to exploit this issue, an attacker would have to break into the device, destroying the case in the process. They would also need to flash the device with a specially-crafted firmware. If your device is intact, your seed is safe, and you should update your firmware to 1.5.2 as soon as possible.

With firmware 1.5.2, this attack vector is eliminated and your device is safe.

yes trezor is most safety and secure wallet it is we have to use for our daily searching bit coin price. now in the market more wallets are available for usage in that mostly people prefer to use hardware wallet they are really good for use and best security also. so in my point of  view it is really great wallet no can hack this wallet it has great security power. and now a days it is very common to use. using the trezor is very easy process. just follow instructions on display and click on confirm button. no worry about amount, private keys, passwords and data it is more safe and secure. so once try to this wallet for your bit coin.

Re: Ledger Nano S or Trezor? Why?

Ledger Nano S or TREZOR? Why?

If you feel this has been hacked to death please let me know, and I apologize in advance.

I realize there is a third 'good' option and that is KeepKey - but KeepKey uses TREZOR's sources and TREZOR has been around longer (as I understand it KeepKey is a port of the TREZOR’s code and firmware) so for all intents and purposes and for ease of discussion I'd like to explore either the Ledger Nano S or the TREZOR.

Also, does anyone know anything about the 'new release' version of the TREZOR that is coming out and/or a possible or estimated ETA?

Ledger Nano S   Released: 2016
KeepKey      Released: 2015
TREZOR      Released: 2013

Security? Privacy? Leave them plugged in all the time or not?

 Huh

Thanks all!  Cool

i would like to prefer trezor wallet so it is very comfort to me and i like this hardware wallet. here we have to using it for our daily needs. most of the people using trezor they said it is good and secure wallet so for that i would like to use this wallet for my daily needs. in fact trezor looks cool. and it has great features. it has been designed by new design. which device we have to using security is more important so for that trezor device has great security also. and you have to try this device for your use.

Re: Spending BTC but being able to recover BTG from ledger nano s
by
XXX_BTC1@
on 31/10/2017, 05:35:01 UTC
I hope someone can help me with what to do now (because I want to use my BTC now but want to get my BTG when it is supported on the ledger nano s), I think more people want to know this:

So:

On (https://www.ledger.fr/2017/10/25/status-bitcoin-gold - as-bitcoin-block-491472/)
it says:Since the replay protection mechanism is unknown, it’s recommended to stop transacting on the Bitcoin network if you think your assets on the Bitcoin Gold network could be valuable.

Can I now move my BTC out of my ledger nano s wallet and still get BTG when the wallet supports it (it doesn’t, yet)?

Solution??: Maybe by sweeping my BTC into another wallet then send it somewhere (and how do I keep the old keys of the wallet where BTG should come to?)

If someone know a step by step to make sure that everything goes wells , would be appreciated.

yes ledger nano s wallet is the good and secure really it is more secure and i want to try once in to this wallet. now most of the people using to this wallet so i have to trying to this wallet really it is more secure and safety. most of the people trying to using this wallet.

Re: New Address each time for Ledger Nano
by

on 31/10/2017, 05:01:04 UTC

I have a balance of a few Bitcoin in my Ledger Nano.

I find my Ledger Nano Bitcoin "Deposit to" address and look it up on BlockChain Explorer and it shows NO Activity, zero balance.

Is this because the Nano generates a new address after each use of a present address?

Sorry, I'm a newbe.

H

yes by default it can be generate new address. it has more secure so by default generating new address is really good to use. it can generate like that then no hack to this. so try to use once it is really it gives you more security.
