I will probably start when RX 490 is out

If the price of the ZCash is similar to now, there is no point to start.

The ZCash price increased a lot since then, but it is still not very profitable.

If you did some simple research you could of avoid all of this.

That is right. It is better to do some research to find the hash power you can get from the single graphics card.

Yes its ABSOLUTELY NUTS that people are paying those prices for Cloud mining.

That right. The Cloud mining is 4-10 times over priced. So that is only for the people who do not know how to mine.

I looked at the Zcash forum and it shows people are mining with the open source GPU miner, that's on a test and not for real zcash right? when will real zcash be mineable? and is it a good idea to test first with the open gpu miner or will there be a new better miner?

The ZCash will be released on 28 October 2016.

https://z.cash/blog/zcash-launch-and-roadmap.html

The Zcash team is nearing the time to release our code and launch the genesis block of the Zcash blockchain. This is an exciting time to be involved in cryptocurrency and we hope this launch will be a milestone for the field.

When the Zcash genesis block is launched, anyone in the world will be able to mine Zcash, and users will be able to send it to anyone in the world with the advantage of full zero-knowledge privacy. The interface will be a command-line tool on Linux, and will not include a graphical user interface, nor run on Windows or Mac OS at launch time. We will continue adding improvements in response to user demand following this initial release.

As you will read in our next blog post we are currently undergoing the audit phase of our code; and as such we have delayed our Sprout release for security and safety reasons. Our aim in creating the Zcash blockchain is to launch the first open, permissionless financial system with zero-knowledge privacy and best achievable security. This post will describe, in chronological order, our engineering roadmap and the steps involved in creating this first release of what will (hopefully!) become a safe, viable, trusted network with this experimental and complex technology.

AUDITS

We have contracted a few of the best audit firms and most trusted hacker minds to help us review our code and correct vulnerabilities. The first audits have already begun; we may schedule future audits to gain further confidence in our security at launch. A blog post following this one will go into further depth about our auditors, when the full audit reports will be published, the scope of the audits, and current risk involved with the Zcash launch. We hope that with proper and thorough auditing we will mitigate all vulnerabilities and lessen risk; this thoroughness is one reason for our launch delay.

BETA

Starting on September 7, 2016 we will release the first version of our Beta code. This is still testnet. This series will be feature complete including having our consensus rules frozen, and a new, easier to use RPC interface in place.

This is a good time to begin the work of integrating Zcash into your products and services. Check back after the 7th for a new Public Beta Guide, which will replace our current Public Alpha Guide.

Our Alpha releases had changing consensus rules and had a difficult-to-use RPC interface (which will be removed). The Beta Series will present stable features, although they may be tweaked slightly before 1.0 launch, based on user feedback or bugfixes.

The potential exceptions to feature-completeness in our Beta Series may be changes to our Equihash Proof-of-Work, security issues found in auditing, bugs that aren't disruptive to fix, and changes required for our production launch such as initial block constants, hard-coded node ids, and removal of unused code and documentation.

BETA PHASE GOALS

Previously we described our plan to launch in September of 2016. Although our main software development is still on that schedule, we've decided to prolong our Beta phase for three crucial goals: secure parameter generation, security auditing, and integration work with ecosystem partners.

We'll describe each of these Beta Phase goals in the coming months when the time is right. Stay tuned!

THE LAUNCH AND SPROUT SERIES

The launch target date for the Zcash blockchain is set for October 28, 2016. This is when the first Zcash monetary units will come into existence, based on securely generated zkSNARK parameters. The software release for the launch will be the first in our Sprout Series releases. We are calling this software release, and this initial phase of the blockchain ‘Sprout’ to emphasize that it is a young, budding blockchain with great potential to grow.

In the coming few months we will be publishing content about: how to mine Zcash, information for integration, partnerships in the works, the parameter generation and setup ceremony, other cool science projects our team is working on, as well as a detailed FAQ that will help developers, miners, engineers, scientists, economists, enthusiasts, and anyone interested in Zcash join the conversation.

GET INVOLVED

The updated Zcash core design is in our Zcash Protocol specification. Our roadmap for the Beta and 1.0 launches is embodied in our github milestones.

Hi Eric,

Any chance that HaoBTC will reduce the minimum BTC for the fixed deposit . 10 BTC is a lot.

If BTC price grows tenfold, we may consider it.  Grin

That could happen in a year or two as the price of bitcoin will be around $1000 to $10000 in a few years.

Minecache is a cock sucking, koala molesting ETH shill....

The Ethereum price is rising at present. Is that due to his shilling? Or Maybe he has a point in his support.

I think it is due to the community support of the Ethereum. Some big companies will develop based on the Etheruem chain.

Both Bitcoin and Ethereum are about 1/2 of their peak price right now, doesn't mean a thing.
haha well said, actually ETC seems better than atleast ETH as there is no any central body/foundation controlling supply and price. It really feels bad to remember Vitalik selling 25% of his ETH holding dumping the price heavily few months back.

Will you feel bad when Vitalik sells all his ETC in the future? That could be a lot of money to get for him.

I think there is something wrong with him and the Ethereum Foundation. They should sell the ETC to support the ETH.

That could be right. Both coins are off their peak at present. Maybe they are both scams. It will take time to know.

Re: $1.6M ln Bitcoin Auctioned Off in US: Will Bitcoin Price Increase?
by

Nothing is going to happen with price it will remain on the current level, the amount of bitcoin is not so to bring some effect on the price, 2719 coins is not so high and that is why nobody thinking there will be any change will come into price after this auction.

The $1.6 million worth of bitcoin is too small to affect the bitcoin price. Even the Poloniex has more trading volume.

Re: Bitcoin in 2020

It is still mysterious what will bring 2020 to bitcoin, make any prediction about the price what it will be by 2020, in fact very hard for anybody to tell the exact price but looking over the growth chart than it looking it will be around $9000 - $12000 as per my personal thinking.
of course it is really hard to predict what the prices of the bitcoin is going to be in the near future, i believe we might reach way bigger heights at like 50000 dollar per bitcoin

For the exact price is very difficult to predict because bitcoin continue to fluctuate and are affected by the situation. We're not in bitcoin on what the next 2 years and we could not get in bitcoin will rise or fall. But I believe bitcoin will continue to rise and many will adopt in 2020. Bitcoin will get to the heart of society.

Even though the bitcoin price is volatile, the long term trend is going up as long as there is no big pump and dump.

I think so. The bitcoin is still in the early development stage. The price will rise a lot in the next few years.

Bitcoin could have around 1 to 5 million users in 2020. But that depends on the infrasture of the bitcoin being built.

I think bitcoin has currently around that number and personally I am expecting it to rise due to the rising price which attracts more people who will in turn cause more price rise. It is like a loop and will continue as long as it is let continued. Usually someone just organize some kind of temporal crisis that will make people panic selling their coins and the price drops (like Gox).
Bitcoin is currently on 3 million total of users. (Check it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2vuvxs/estimated_number_of_bitcoin_users/)

According to amnesiac-eightyfour
Bitcoin owners: probably 2-3 million
Bitcoin users (actively spending, trading, following news): 200k-500k

The (pseudonymous) character of Bitcoin doesn't allow us to make exact figures, so all figures in this thread, including mine, are just guesses or assumptions.
I think in the end it's not so important how many people use Bitcoin. More important is if the infrastructure is getting stronger and if the network activity is growing. I think all indicators show that's true.

I think the active bitcoin users are fewer than 100,000. If there are more than that, and each has more than 2 transactions per day, there will be huge congestion.

You cannot know if bitcoin will be better than everything by 2020. There are some really interesting coins out there too.

Competition is good. It might actually push the developers to discuss the issues facing Bitcoin and come out with solution.
Right now, no progress is happening on that front.

The only bit of noticeable progress that we might see will be the update which brings us the much waited for block size increase.
Perhaps within a period of four years there will be a lot of progress, whatever it is I'm sure there is. I also expect an increase in bitcoin in 2020. Prices in the year it should be better and continue to rise. I believe 2020 will be better bitcoin.

it is realistic to be price increase in four year and further more i expect more stability not to many fluctuation in price in that time

In four years, the price could be 16 times of present value. That is almost double every year for 4 years.

You could short the two pins with a paperclip and it will power on

that is one method to connect two power supplies. You can also use:

In a media release, Counterparty‘s core developer Ruben de Vries said that the initiative is aimed at “pushing Bitcoin functionality forward by porting innovative features from the Ethereum project to the Bitcoin blockchain.”

Does it mean the Ethereum can be replaced?
