I can rustle up a picture this weekend.

Yea that's pretty much a firm $$ as it basically for the Power supplies.  They can be used as you get more/different miners that require external Power Supplies.

1000w units (decent units) go for around $200-$250 CAD.
The 650w unit is barely a month old and was $100 new.

I'd accept PayPal If it is easier.  Half a BTC on day of transaction.

Just a quick reminder that Drillbit thumbs still don't appear to be working with the latest Prerelease even after a Git Pull to get the updates.

I've also noticed that even if I switch it to CGMiner and try to let it run on donation mode, it doesn't engage the miners.

switching back to the v7 from tkl337, running CGMiner 3.9.

I'll try again later if there are more updates.

Cheers,

Nope I think he meant this one... http://drillbitsystem.com/forum/index.php?topic=12.0

There are 7 versions of Minepeon modified to have Drillbit specific versions of CGMiner amongst the pages in that thread, but there hasn't been an update since the official Builds of CGMiner and BFGMiner which includes Drillbit support have been available.

The Rules file has been modified to include Drillbit devices and I believe we had to start the mining software with sudo privileges.

Thanks Jedi for providing the link to MineForman Smiley  wasn't around much today to answer.

In that thread you'll also find that tkl337 also did a compile of cgminer 3.9.0 which manages to work.

I have a spare SD card so would love to test it out for you if you manage to get 3.10.0 working Smiley

Just freshly imaged a 2nd SD card I have for testing with the new version and it will not recognize my 2 Thumbs and start up mining operations at all.

This is after I've added my own pool settings and setup the e-mail notification, etc.

switching back to the other working image from the Drillbit forums for now.

Ok, got my Cube up and running.

Wasn't terribly tough but I gotta ask, as I haven't found anyone really talking much about it.  Or my Google Kungfu is not strong this late at night...

I'm using the Slush Mining_Proxy.exe, and everything seems to be going ok I guess but it is processing a metric crap ton of data ever second Smiley

Here's a screen cable of about 3 seconds.
http://imageshack.com/photo/my-images/850/rn6q.jpg/

I see tons of those warnings, are those fixable?

Do I need to worry about those?

The cube on High is reporting on average 38Gh/s with just the stock cooling, no mods or additional fans yet.

My Account over at EclipseMC is also reporting similar speeds.

Just trying to make sure that what I'm seeing is relatively normal.

Thanks all

Actually arrived last night but Canada Post left a door hanger and I couldn't pick them up until today...

Quick turn around!

Thanks Barntech!

Also, is there anyone perusing these forums that can approve access on the Drillbit Forums?  I registered a few days ago.

What is the power consumption of the USB Thumb devices?  is it .5A like similar products?

I've seen talk of LCD mods for Raspberry's mentioned before in this thread.

I didn't see anyone yet ask if the plate in this project could be utilized by Minepeon.

I'd like to thank Bobsag3 for arranging the Canadian orders.

As it stands there are confirmed (paid) orders for 15 units.  5 of which are mine.

However, if this GB doesn't reach 100 by next Friday the orders are being refunded.  Fair enough.

If this fails, how are Canadians supposed to be able to buy your product?  There seems to be some fear about shipping to Canadian BTC Miners in nearly all GB's I've been watching.  I don't know about other people but I would/am willing to pay the extra shipping, as it is an international shipment.

Do you need someone in Canada to be a distributor?

There is currently one vendor who seems to only deal with Asicminer products but perhaps they could be approached? www.wtcr.ca

This post is only intended to start brainstorming to fix the situation if the GB Bobsag3 is organizing fails.

Ideas?

Re: Can and how do I get cgminer 3.4.3 on raspberry pi?
by

That Rosewell should run up to 8 as long as they are well made.

The 1 amp cell power cord/adapter should be enough as long as your PS/2 Adapter doesn't draw power to "adapt" the keyboard/mouse.

As to a RTC, yes the pi doesn't have one but if it is always connected to the internet it doesn't need one.  you can add them fairly easy though.

On the topic of CGMiner:
I have successfully substituted version 3.4.3 using that tutorial.

The only problem I ran into was getting 3.4.3 working with the LCD Plate, and the auto run at boot up.

They dropped the need for the "-S /dev/ttyUSB##" after 3.1.1.

Also the configure and make commands do still work, however I don't believe the configure command is necessarily needed since after 3.1.1 cgminer is setup to recognize and run BE's.

The command to start running with all BE's attached should be something like this for the auto start command.
"sudo nohup ./cgminer-3.4.3/cgminer -o -u -p >/dev/null 2>&1&"

However the last part ">/dev/null 2>&1&" I'm not sure what it does or if it is needed with the newer cgminer.

I also am not sure if PiMiner will work with the newer versions of cgminer, it may require modification and I'm no Programmer.

If you run "sudo ./cgminer -o -u -p " from the cgminer-3.4.3 folder it will launch and start using any BE's you have recognized by the rpi OS.

I'm back to using 3.1.1 from that Tutorial and have zero issues.  It's been humming along for over a week now.  I can't think of a reason to upgrade really, perhaps if new BE's come out and CGminer is updated to support them.

On the subject of Power and USB Hubs:
You really need to pay attention to is power, for the rpi and the BE's themselves.

See my write up at the end of this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=296936.0

One possible optimal setup for a single rpi and 10 BE's is might be this, and will be my setup once my DLINK Hubs arrive.
- 1 rpi with A/C Power adapter, either using wireless or wired network.
---- If you are going to use a wifi adapter make sure it is verified to be compatible.
- 2 x DLINK 3 amp 7 port Hubs.
- 10 x BE usb miners.
--- You use 1 USB port off the rpi for the 1st DLINK hub, 6 BE's plug in leaving 1 USB port to chain to the next HUB.

You can find bigger hubs that support more ports but pay attention to the Power it delivers to each port.

If you have a 20 Port USB Hub with a 5 amp power supply you will only ever get 5 BE's working, unless you hardware hack the hub to 10 amps, but that may start melting components... lol

I would not recommend running a rpi on off the same powered hub as your BE's, doing so you limit how many BE's you can run.  Factor in the 700mA needed, then factor in 3 amps provided by a specific model DLINK 7 port USB HUB, you now can only run 4 BE's on this Hub.  That leaves .1 amps of wiggle room.

You need to pay attention to how many amps your Hub can produce.

I have a 10 port Hub that is only 2.5amps therefore I can only successfully mine error free with 5 USB Miners.  Since this hub has 5 useless ports for mining I'm returning when the DLink's I ordered get here.

There are several DLINK 7 port hubs out there and each will support different amount of miners.
1) the DUB-H7/B will only support 4 as it is rated at 2.4 amps.
2) the BUBH7A A5 will also only support 4 as it is rated at 2 amps.
3) the EUBH7EB HW Ver. B1 should support 6 as it is rated at 3 amps.

There is only a handful of HUBS out there that will natively support 7 USB Miners and are rated at 3.5 amps.
1) Delock's B/N87467 rated at 3.5 amps
2) Cyerpower High-Speed Hub CP-H720P, rated at 3.6 amps
3 Belkin Hi-Sped USB 2.0 7port Hub F5U237 is rated for 3.8 amps so should handle 7.

There's a couple more on this list that are 7 ports and at least 3 amps on this list.
http://elinux.org/RPi_Powered_USB_Hubs

There could be others as well not on this list.

They key is the rating of the Power the hub can handle.  You must have .5 amps per port on the HUB to properly run your miners.

Some people have hacked their USB Hubs to actually get .5 amps to each port.  Usually ending up with some melting Smiley  some however don't.

The DLINK above that should be able to 6 seems like a good one as it leaves one port open to daisy chain the next hub.

Has anyone heard of or tried to get the LCD Plate working with BFGminer using PiMiner?

I am not a code expert so really don't know what I'd be looking at editing PiMiner.py to get it to work.

I did consider the Hub its self and will check to see if I can find one that is better locally.

This one wasn't cheap in cost, $40 but I can easily return it, and even though it wasn't cheap in cost perhaps it is cheap in build quality.

I would really like to utilize the LCD Plate I have with my Pi I guess I'll try to contact the author of that PiMiner Python script to see if he can help.

I'll try a different HUB and report back.
