Any particular reason you're using a flash drive instead of just running a live CD?  My understanding is you just need to boot up in an untouched environment for the purpose of installing software to access the wallet you backed up.  Might as well go with something quick and easy...Ubuntu seems to have drivers included for just about every device.

Unless of course you're using a laptop without a CD drive or something...

I was planning on just backing up my existing wallet using Truecrypt, but this seems like a better option.  Thanks for the writeup!
