Lots of speculation in here but one thing is for sure, the price is higher this year than the same time 12 months ago Smiley

Main story here is the throwback to the original purchase. There's a long implementation phase ahead but this is a nice way to capture some headlines...

Re: tips for begginers

A few generic beginner tips that will help you to get up to speed:
1: Never invest more than you can afford to loose.
2: Buy the dips (looks easy and is quite easy, if you can resist huge green candles / FOMO)
3: Begin with trading CMC top 25 coins, to avoid to much risk in the beginning.
4: To get the best average price for long term holds, apply dollar cost averaging (buy fixed amounts each weak, and buy a bit more in case of a sudden dip)
5: Bitcointalk, youtube and Google are your friends. View and read a lot about trading to get the hang of it.
6: Do your own research on a coin. never just jump in based on some social media hype.

Hope this helps a little.

A great little list, but point 6 is a massive one. So much social media hype, you've got to be really careful on SM. Scams, hype and dumps are all common-practice if you don't follow the right people!

I hope so.

Too yet to tell I think, a lot of conflicting information, I'm going back to the graphs.

This is definitely a long investment, the plans are scheduled for the long run and I'm happy holding.

It was not in my radars but I bought some due to the things written here. My standing points were that it’s lower than ICO, its Project is reasonable and logical and bounty process has made people happy. And my observations in relation to the projects of my radar are in this direction; if they act properly and generously by means of the bounty, their intentions are serious and they provide gains for the ones who wait patiently for 5 – 6 months. The intention of the ones who chase swindling at the bounty process is apparent anyway.

I pretty much used the same logic as this. Everything about the project makes sense to me, but the next steps for the currency will be crucial in determining it's direction. I've gone in for some coins, let's see what the holding will bring.

Bracing myself for the negativity.

Panorama has a history of reporting on the negativity of a subject, I highly doubt this will be any different. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll tune in.

EOS always interested me. But use a large crypto database to research the currencies you want to support. Check out the board, plans, any associated news articles and their overall purpose. There's so many interesting projects out there, are you in it for the quick return or the long run? There are so many variables and really you have to do your own research in order to answer the questions you have.

Buy the dips, use it as an entry point to come back in or begin investing. There's speculation on it's next direction but the future is spoken about optimistically.

The media & social media are just as bad for it.

There has been good news in the last 24 hours, I echo the thoughts of previous posters though, newbies and media-induced investors have really been influenced. Although, I'd be just as cautious about all of the good news you hear, social media is full of cries of "going to the moon" again, we'll see.

Hope he cashed at $8m rather than he lower return as of 2018s movements.

Not getting too carried away with anything right now, my aim for BTC and other currencies in general is to be as educated as possible. I truly believe that being educated and patient will yield the financial rewards, so the short-term is all about knowledge. The long-term, it's a lambo.

Re: Why are all cryptos dropping in price?

Does BTC control the market through the price fluctuations? BTC has been running lower in recent weeks and this knock-on effect has been seen in other currencies too. Is the driver from people selling up altcurrency and investing in BTC at a lower price, meaning we are likely to see another rise in BTC prices soon? Or is that a far too simplistic way to look at the market currently?

Re: mining is profitable ?
by
YeOldeMiner
on 31/01/2018, 20:36:21 UTC
As has been mentioned it will depend on your coin of choice. Some services can help you to identify profitability for 24 hour/longer periods of mining. Mining some of the top currencies will require a lot more input up front, this can be quite daunting. My opening rig came in at around $4000 and I've got a long journey until I achieve profit, but it will come.

Of course you have to keep in mind the necessity to release equity that you have vs the investment in the coins and deciding when to sell.

I wouldn't be too worried now, the impact at this point is on GPU prices in relation to profitability. I've recently begun mining and this is the key factor for me, price will fluctuate across the market but the GPU/build prices are affecting entry to mining and length of time for a ROI.
