Re: Somebody Doesn't Like MtGox.....

Saw a funny thing scrolling by in the logs just now:

http://pignax.com/pub/mtgox2.png
Look at all the transactions

https://blockchain.info/tree/113953084

If you expand everything, you see that the end result is three transactions of 80 BTC sent to 1EcvHzJaXp9xnBcxqWe6rR8sUyzujzfafn,
with a tiny bit(transaction fee for something like a mixing service?) going to 1Nqoy2FfpR1DtrBodFe1bzRrzuoA9XYkab.

I wonder why he went all the way just to show his hate to Mt. Gox

Re: Can a laptop / data be recovered with only serial number (BTC DATA)
by
YourFriendlyNig
on 24/02/2014, 18:19:33 UTC
I have the Macbooks serial number and all information located on the box / receipt.

Only problem is that this computer was stolen in late 2010 and I filed a Police report at the time but recent information has brought this computer to my attention once again, but on a different level, I have some very expensive data on this laptop and will pay UPFRONT for its recovery!

I have tried out a few websites but all want the Serial number and info upfront, Is it possible for one to take my information and actually find my Macbook and take it for themselves?

Disregard the stupid defamation of character -- I don't care if anyone believes me, I only care about recovering my Macbook and its significant data!

Thanks in advance~

(Tipping BTC for good resources, post address below)
Have you ever connected the Apple account to ANY OF THE APPS (e.g Mail, MobileMe(2010)/iCloud, etc.) on the old Macbook, i'm pretty sure If you give Apple support your Apple ID+serial No., they MIGHT be able to find it.

Also, If you've ever used Gmail on your old MB, this MIGHT help: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/45938?hl=en

Also, I've heard that Microsoft can have IP history logs for Hotmail, but i think you might have to call them.

Finally, why didn't you have a backup/cold storage?

Do you have a public address for the bitcoin wallet? Maybe you could see the transactions to make sure they are there?

Oh, and the Blockchain.info wallet in the sig Wink

Anyone else that have problems login in to MtGox mobile website? It has been problems for for a while now and I just wonder if they have dropped the support and development and just keep the things that works running until it fails. I also see in the order book that langauge has changed, all things seems not to be ok?

I can't even login to the desktop site since Friday.

Re: Can you buy Bitcoins on Mt Gox and transfer the bitcoins to your wallet?
by

I have a verified Mt. Gox account that I have never used.

So using Mt. Gox to buy Bitcoins can they be transfered to a wallet?

I know this is probably a dumb question but I had to ask.

Or could we potentially buy bitcoins at Mt Gox for $130 and hold on to them and wait them out until this passes then cash out when it back to normal?

Yes, but you have to be verified on bitbuilder, or whatever it's called.

I haven't tried this myself

Re: The best Bitcoin cold storage?
by
YourFriendlyNig
on 22/02/2014, 10:05:47 UTC
Just thought I'd introduce you to new little stainless steel bitcoin cold storage wallets that are laser etched and fireproof, almost indestructible. We think the pricing is on point and hopefully you love them as much as I do! Feedback (and orders) is appreciated.
https://ColdCoins.co

Someone recommended the following method to me and it is really an outstanding way to secure your wallet AND add redundancy. My friend compared it to the horcruxes in Harry Potter.
-First, You'll want to boot into linux (you can do this on a flash drive, if you don't know how to do this, comment here and I will be happy to help you out) and do not connect to the internet at all.
-Second, you should already have the java applets www.bitaddress.org and www.passguardian.com saved on a flash drive. You'll need to access these files (they'll open in the internet browser.
-Third, the bitaddress applet will generate a public key (bitcoin address) and a private key (the password you need to extract your bitcoins). Save the public key somewhere (perhaps the flash drive) so that you can send BTC into that BTC address.
-Fourth, copy the private key and open the passguardian applet. You will want to select split a secret. Here you will paste the private key into the box that says "secret to share".
-Next, you select the number of shares (i usually pick 7) and threshold (i usually pick 4). This means that you will receive 7 different passcodes and in order to recover your "secret" you need to have any 4 of the 7 shares.
So passing it out to 7 shares to 7 people that you could trust, parents get one, sister, friends, etc. But shit happens. People lose stuff, houses burn down, people get robbed. If you set it up this way, you only have to rely on 4 out of 7 people to actually keep that share.

Copy and paste from Reddit? Also, whenever I try to get to ColdCoins in doesn't load the page:(

Re: Is this MtGox's NTXID testing in action???
by

Thanks to DataVeteran's twitter page (https://twitter.com/Datavetaren), I've stumbled on the following link:

https://data.mtgox.com/api/0/bitcoin_tx.php

It shows a bunch of mtgox blockchain submissions. They all include the new transaction ID constructed by Sipa and Krapeles as disussed extensively on the GitHub thread (https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/pull/3656).

Copy/Pasting the NTXID field in blockchain.info gives a series of transactions happening over the course of the past couple days. If I understand correctly this is the testing they announced they would be doing.

Not all NTXID seem to work. This might imply that not all test transactions are going through properly and, thus, the system isn't fully ready for primetime action. If this were the case, the freeze on all withdrawals could be deemed appropriate.

I don't know much about programming, but what does it mean by the fact that all the script signatures are redacted?

Wow, I came here expecting to see 4 pages of discussion on how the next generation are starting to use crypto currency, how they view it, and all manner of interesting things.

So sad that is not the case.

I view it as the currency of the future. That is it. It's not some shitty ponzi scheme, some pyramid scheme, some investment. It has a future. It does have some problems, but it can be solved.

I keep seeing people claiming to be well under 18 and claiming they have made a decent amount of Bitcoin yet how can they? They can't purchase from any excahnge because you need to be 18 in order to sign a legal contract and buy from any exchange.

So they are lying unless they sell services but they have no experince in most things sorry for the rant but its annoying when people claim to be young and have enough experince to make well over 50 Bitcoin in such a short period of time without buying from a exchange.

So? I Created a kraken account just last week and I'm only 14. Even though I have nothing in it, I'm making a bank account in the summer and going to start trading Tongue. Right now, I just need 1 more mBit so I can transfer funds from blockchain to play2win sites like Primedice.

With more volume, you are more likely to buy / sell bitcoins at a price that is more appealing to you.
Orders will get fulfilled faster.
I see. At least It's going to go higher, most likely

A great thing about Kraken is that the verification process is quick, took me less than 24 hours.

One question though, why does volume matter? Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question, bit of teenage noobie  Huh
