Re: [2018-12-21] Executives at Korean Crypto Exchange UPbit Indicted for Fraud
by

According to a report from CoinDesk Korea on Friday, the Prosecutors’ Office of the southern district of Seoul has indicted three senior staff members, including founder Song Chi-Hyung, on charges of fraud.
The executives are alleged to have made fraudulent transactions between September to December of last year, using a fake corporate account to make bogus orders worth 254 trillion won (or $226.2 billion) to inflate trading volume figures and attract more customers to the exchange.

If inflating transaction volume is a crime, many Chinese exchanges should be indicted.

Re: [2018-06-31] Miner Spends Only $1567 per BTC

I've recently read another article stating that mining is only profitable when Bitcoin is trading above $6500 (not 100% sure about this number)
I wish I could find the article in question, but it was a couple of weeks ago I think.

I've found similar articles, but all from longer ago stating different profitability thresholds.

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/19/bitcoin-miners-are-losing-money-at-any-price-below-8600-morgan-stanley.html

I think it depends on the price of the electricity. The Canadian company must have very low price.

Could you possibly show the power the cards are using?

Vote for this feature

This is only accurate for nVidia cards.

Close. But no Smiley

I have to undervolt and underclock to make it profitable. So it is not worth it.

€0.07/kWh here, not giving a fuck and buying up the recent flood of cheap mining rigs  Grin

You can still make profit after the coin price drop 50%.

Re: [2018-02-10] Japanese Crypto Investors To Pay Tax Of Up To 55 Percent On Profits

How will they track the profits? Someone is trading, someone is just getting paid with cryptocurrency, someone is using them to pay services or products etc...

Also if you trade the altcoins against the bitcoin, and do not cash out in fiat, how do you charge capital gains?

my prediction is that now dual mining is dead, claymore will lose a lot of clients unless he finds some other coins to dual mine

That is right. We cannot mine the DCR and SIA soon.

Re: Are 1070 TI's the next best GPU for mining? 4.7 sols per watt
by

Set up my EVGA 1070 Ti this afternoon (Micron memory  Embarrassed)and adjusted settings to 80% TDP +200 Core +600 memory.  Ran fine with about 525-530 sol/s for about 45 mins then artifacted on me on and crashed system as my monitor was hooked up to this.  This something I should RMA if it happens again?
You overclocked the crap out of the card and then want to RMA it because it crashes? Cheesy EVGA won't be happy about that. Seriously though, overclocking is not only ever guaranteed, but with most manufacturers it actually voids your warranty. Hard to enforce since customers never admit that they did any overclocking and there's no sure way to check whether they did, but still it's there most of the time, in the fine print.

I agree with that. I do heavy underclocking to save electricity.

Okay, z270e working fine with 8 1080tis so it should work fine with 9 too. Just take care to set gen 1 and don't worry if the m.2 adapter doesn't work from the start Smiley

Do 9 cards work under Windows 8.1?

Is it profitable to mine ethereum with desktop? What kind of configuration?

You need good graphics cards to mine the ETH. You cannot use CPU.

Marginally better hash rates with 1060's and 1070's.

Increase of 0.05 - 0.1.

So that is about 0.1 to 0.3% increase. How about the power consumption?

$4400 is very high for this config. Don't fall on that

With $4400, he can buy 6X1080.

Just remember each card you add over 6 multiplies the problems you will have by at least 3x

That is right. I usually have 5 or 6 cards. It is easy to manage.

I don't like it, it requires more powerful CPU, larger memory, cannot resell when mining crashes.
Another important thing is ,small rig with 6 cards is more flexible, you can run windows in a rig and linux in other rig if needed. For example, if there is a miner only supports windows, but your 12 cards rigs are running linux, and windows only supports 8 cards, how to switch?

You can run 8 AMD and 4 nVidia together in Windows.

Re: What if I buy 3BTC now and forget about them for 10 years???
by

on 10/07/2017, 06:49:25 UTC
Well in 10 years you will have exactly 3 bitcoins.

Unless Bitcoin forks.
Obviously, you're referring to a chain split, but then still, you'll just have 3BTC. Wink

Whatever chain split happens, there can be only one Bitcoin ~ the coins you will have sitting in the other (minor) chain, are nothing more than altcoins.

That is right theoretically. But it will take some time to find the main one.

Is the Drop from AMD Cards only for 4GB or 8GB also? Why not for NVIDIA? Is it claymore who drop the rate?

For both 4GB and 8GB.

I am running two rigs with this board using 6 gpus sucessfully and soon to test with 7.

I can tell you that you won't be able to use both of the M.2 slots as you hoped because atleast 1 of the M.2 slots shared PCIe lanes with the PCIex1 #2 and #4 slots on the motherboard.
I know this because to get 6 gpu's to run correctly you have to distinctly change that setting to disable the M.2 slot in bios and use the PCIex1 #2,4 instead.
I am not positive but you may be able to use the other M.2 slot. I will double check, if so I may just order an adapter and try it out.

Edit: I am wrong, I looked up the PDF of the manual. It turns out it was the front USB 3.1 connector I had to disable in BIOS that shares bandwidth with the PCIex1 #2,4. The M.2 slots only share bandwidth with SATA 5 and 6. The M.2 adapters may very well work.
Link to manual (Section 1.6.7):  http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1151/STRIX_Z270E_GAMING/E12349_Z270E_GAMING_BIOS_EM_WEB.pdf?_ga=2.219611673.1480583767.1496203431-1198207353.1492379291

In order to use the M.2, do yo need an adaptor for the graphics card?

If you buy 3 bitcoin and forget this for 10 years maybe you will become rich because they have possible the price will become $10,000 each bitcoin because the price everyear increase and I believe bitcoin will live long but it cannot live for more decades. Maybe 20 years is the maximum they live but I hope bitciin will live long . Many people for sure hold their bitcoin for their future. But remember no one can knows what happrn in the future maybe you can earn a lot of money but they have possible that your money gone.

That is right. But if the bitcoin or another coin such as Zcash are in active development and used widely, the price will rise.
