Re: My first crypto purchases, how bad am I doing?

Nice start man!

I wouldn't buy too many different coins when you start. Something like 1 NEO or 2 BNB is kinda hard to make a nice return on. Even when it rises 100%, you've only made a few dollars. Perhaps have a look at the top 40 coins on CoinMarketCap and the top 20 tokens. Pick 2 or 3 that you really like, research the project and team. Then invest some money in those and hold them for the long run.

The other side is trading. You can put some money aside and try to speculate a bit. Learn how to read the charts, open a free account on TradingView and watch a few YouTubes (there are a lot of cryptotraders out there with great tips). Don't put everything on one coin when you trade, try not to spend more than about 20% on one coin. I think Binance is a great exchange (see my signature).

Most important of all: don't use money that you are not willing to lose. Investing / trading in crypto is risky!

I support Waves with all of my heart. But is it just me or does it seem to stay a bit small? Yes we see new features, like the beautiful new web wallet / exchange. But where is the support in the market? Why isn’t it at least $20 or even $200 yet?

Binance is great!

- Good selection of coins
- High volume
- Low fees, even lower if you use BNB
- You can stake coins like NEO
- No need to verify IDs
- Nice contests, airdrops and giveaways

Re: How to know before the Dump?

Try to get familiar with the charts and useful indicators like RSI and MACD. Sometimes spread can also be a sign of a pump / dump, when the buy and sell prices are spread apart more than normal.

Maybe pick one, two or three coins (depending on price) from the CoinMarketCap top 50 and invest in those.
If you hold them for a while, they can give you a nice profit margin.

You can also do some day trading on an exchange like Binance. It has low fees.

Bit strange though that they say 14 days or else you are out of luck.
On Binance (see signature) it takea a long time for coins to be removed after delisting them.

$100,000 seems a bit steep to me

I can see it doing $30K maybe even $40K, but that would probably be it. Crypto is getting more and more popular. Still a coin can only grow so much.

You could Google for a list of Bitcoin faucets and do those for a few days. That will probably be easier and cheaper than to try to do a transaction for that amount.

Holding is an eays way to make money. Make the right choices and you could see your coins rising quite nicely without lifting a finger.

Re: Should I buy or mine Bitcoin?

I would recommend buying Bitcoin. The price is actually pretty good right now.

Mining has become really expensive for consumers because the hardware and electricity costs do not outweigh the profits from mining (Bitcoin fees). Bitcoin has raised the complexity over the years, making it more difficult to solve a transaction.

Re: What happens when bitcoins are lost?

It is like putting your paper money in an industrial washer, the money is gone. Or at least, without a private key, there is no way to access it.

When you think of it, Bitcoin will probably become scarcer and scarcer as people lose their keys and the money becomes inaccessible.

Yes GDAX works fine because it is CoinBase, but they don't offer a lot of trading pairs.
Binance works well too.

I like to use paper wallets whenever I can. Very secure. Of course you should store the paper in a safe place.
