Fastest way of acquiring bitcoin is for you to sell your things. If you have digital goods that you think can be sold then you can sell it in here. Also a physical good like an old computer or computer parts can make you some few bucks. You can't really earn that much in a month unless you have some skills to offer then maybe you can find a bitcoin paying job out here.

Re: Why am I an atheist

My text have other important arguments beside the ones you picked.
Anyway:
1) Social consequences: This argument in based on a factual assertion, so it's simple.
You have here the full article: https://www.academia.edu/19164068/The_Negative_Association_between_Religiousness_and_Children_s_Altruism_across_the_World
The article doesn't says religious kids "have more more empathy and sensitivity for justice then children in non-religious households". Says that their parents said that, which is a different thing.
Read the full text: "Parents of Children from Christian Households View Their Children as More Sensitive to Injustices toward Others" (p. 2954, figure 4). "Consistent with research linking religiousness and adult self-reports of moral behavior, frequency of religious attendance, spirituality, and overall religiousness predicted parent-reported child sensitivity to the plight of others (empathy and sensitivity to justice). Religious individuals consistently score higher than non-religiousones on self-reported measures of socially desirable responding [26]. This previous literature, coupled with the currentfindings, supports an internal consistency in adults’ self-assessments of their moral dispositions and extends to their beliefs about their children." (P. 2953).
The article mocks those self-reports.
It would be a surprise if after failing on altruism, religious kids would win on empathy or non punitive justice.
There are some religions that have a complex of "chosen" people that will go to heaven compared with the "infidels" that will burn in hell and, so, are more or less a distinct kind of human, doomed to the flames, unworthy of the same respect. Most people convinced that they own the truth will be intolerant to the "others".
This kind of thought, which is the basis of the inquisition, still exists. I wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the reasons for these results.
Your health praises of religion are like considering religion as a kind of Prozac or Ecstasy. One lives happy in one's delusion.
I prefer to be haunted by my destiny of nothingness, than live under an illusion (as I wrote here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1221052.msg14296644#msg14296644), especially one that I think has serious social consequences.
I admit that this might have negative consequences on individual health. But it's absurd to believe in god for health reasons. It's like defending that we should be permanently high in order to be happy.
On Pascal's wager, or the "prudential reason to believe in God", I more or less mock it on my 11 point. It isn't honest.
But I'll have to evaluate more empirical studies, including the one you quoted.
2) If you read John Rawls' Theory of Justice you will realize that atheism/secularism doesn't need a god to justify Ethics. I'm no nihilist on Ethics as is clear on the next point.
3) I'm appalled by your attempt to justify the quoted passage of the Exodus.
What is written there is beyond any justification under current Ethics. It seems your problem is only with the punishment of the third and forth generation, no problem with the sons being punished by the sins of their parents, even if they believe in the "right god" and are good persons.
I think the current disastrous birth rate rate on western countries has little to do with religiosity. Even if it seems clear that religion induces people to have children, it isn't the lack of it that makes people stop having them. The reason is economic: people don't need to have children, the state/corporation pays their pension (until it soon goes bankrupt, then they will start having babies again).
Anyway, god won't punish only the atheists, but also believers on other gods. And those have been on Earth for more than 50,000 years. There would be plenty of generations to punish.
I don't see the point on debating the clear immorality of main rules of the Torah. If you can't see it on your own, you seem to live in a world with no modern individual rights.
4) Your theory on the Brain's role as a transmitter is precisely what I criticize.
You didn't explained how we lose conscience when the brain is injured/hill and why when the brain recovers we can't remember anything. If it was a transmitter, we should remember everything during the black out of the brain. It should be only an interruption of the "transmission".

Re: A German comedian could be sent to jail for insulting the Turkish president

Yes, it's easier to insult Hitler than Erdogan in today's Germany, but don't worry, nothing will happen, and no one will be sent to jail. Erdogan's critic on press' freedom has brought major news coverage in Germany, with several members of the parliament defending free speech in Turkey, so it cannot get worse in Germany.

Re: Bitcoin mentioned on Blacklist

Bitcoin has been getting mentions on more and more tv shows lately. Most mentions however involve some anonymous illegal payment though.  Not sure if this is the best publicity bitcoin can get, but it sure gets the word out there more! Ultimately i guess any mention is worth something at the current point in time. Maybe in the close future we will see it being used in shows at a different way, where itis used to avoid the banks and full centralization. Maybe in a prepper documentary or something.

I would throw a giveaway that this forum have never seen before. Of curse not with whole 10BTC, maybe 3 or 2. The rest I would utilize in a small idea of riddle - faucet.  Faucet with hard riddles, head breaking puzzles and confusing crosswords. In case something left I would store it as savings.

Re: How can I benefit from btc?
by
ZOOM007
on 14/05/2016, 09:45:57 UTC
Ok split it into 3 parts.  How do you benefit?  We need to know more about your situation but bitcoin is a payment network that spans the world.   Easy to use and send to someone far away if needed.   Some benefit much more from it's functions then others.
Ok before buying 2 you need to decide what is your goal?   Are you buying for a profit?  If so could mean holding it a decent amount of time trying to gain a profit.  There are no guarantees you could win big or lose big.  But you need to decide are you happy with 10 dollar profit? 50 dollar profit?   ETC.  No one else but you can set your goals.
You really need to read more about the beneficial nature of bitcoin and what it has to offer.  As far as "rush over btc" it is the number one crypto currency.   So it is the one with the most publicity, most acceptance, etc.    So if looking at crypto world it is the coin use most of time.

I don't know if it's really a good idea to use USB sticks for that, I would have made a paper wallet and laminated it.  You say you burried it? What if moisture reaches those USB sticks and they don't work anymore? Not saying it's a bad idea to put your savings into Bitcoin, but I think you could have done it in a better way.

Re: Bitcoin IS basically DESTROYED

To say that bitcoin is destroyed because a certain country controls the majority of the hashrate is an overstatement. There are several people outside of China that are mining in Chinese pools out of convenience, fact of the matter is that Chinese pools are very competitive and run by companies whereas most pools outside of China are smaller operations.  But that doesn't really make that big of a difference, Chinese miners aren't necessarily bad intentioned just because of their location, the fact that bitcoin is receiving so much adoption in a jurisdiction with so much censorship is rather positive.

I want ask anyone if i give you 10 Btc what will you do. because i want investment but i have no any good idea to invest it (except gambling) but i don't like dambling. So i want ask you viewS.
I would take 1 and pass the rest along. on a more serious note,  if you have 10 then I would suggest putting maybe half away in a wallet and forget about them and the other half I would use 1 to trade against some altcoins and try to gain some profit that way and the rest I would probably do as the others have said and invest in something along the lines of a casino.

Re: Do you have 100+ BTC ? - How do you plan to cashout ?

For me i cash out the 50 bitcoin so that if the bitcoin will down in coming bitcoin halving i have my money in my hand. But if you want to earn more try to risk it because no one knows what happen in bitcoin halving if the price will down or not. There is a chance that the price will rise double but you need to be fast if the price will rise fast there is a chance that the price will down.

Large groups of well paid, organized, funded professionals with clear objectives and good management - (like R3, hyperledger, ethereum, others) are sure making those Core programmers look like the silly little whiny bitches that they are.  Core is going NOWHERE and getting there pretty damn fast.  Meanwhile, very sophisticated advance is being done every day in other part of crypto/blockchain.

This is 100% the end of bitcoin as we know it.  Good thing too.  This 'open source', 'no leadership', 'no organization' thing was always a load of bullshit.
We might not be happy with the direction bitcoin developers are taking use. But it is safe to say that bitcoin is even remotely close to dying. It won't happen, not with the  market cap we achieved. The only problem of bitcoin for now is the solution to the block size scaling problem. This status of affairs is already attracting some anxiety and it is toxic to even talk about it. Other than that we are fine as a community.

I just want to say that you are only denying the existence of God. How can you came up with the idea of God. Since you know Him, He exists. Another is that maybe it is your personal experience that make yourself distance from God. Try to observe in your surroundings. Can't you see how beautiful His creation? Well I respect your view but I am not convinced with it.

Re: If bitcoin dropped to $1, what you do?
by

If bitcoins drop that much for a bad reason anything that is bad then that is the end of bitcoin because its hard to come back the price like $400 again with that dropped. Then I guess I'll stop using bitcoins, but before it drops in $1 dollar I'll withdraw and buy anything I want.

Re: 2017 Year of the Bitcoin
by

A lot of things might still happen, before 2017. I am predicting a slight increase in price, between $500 and $600 around the Halving and then a strong decrease as people reach the selling point and the supply increase on the exchanges. Going into 2017 we will see a decline in price again, because most people would be concentrating on their holidays and festive spending. I hope by then that the Open Bazaar concept would have gained some momentum and that it would boost the Bitcoin economy.

erhaps an american™ fork will appear that bans all Chinese nodes.  (If Trump is president and has a good technological advisor), that is. Bitcoin-West being the result. China then running its own fork. Oh I guess China does love Bitcoin after all # who deserves controlling the Bitcoin network? Isn't this intentional? Arms race.  Competition means more nodes being deployed.  Don't you worry folks, Bitcoin's doing just fine. Deploy more nodes if you don't like the Chinese doing it more than yourself!

I'll hold it up until the halving (with the hope of increase in value of BTCitcoin), then I'll start to purchase mining rigs afterwards (with half of it only) and the other half I would hire developers to make a interesting android game or application (not necessarily a BTCitcoin game or application but something that would have greater impact among more users) and hoping it would profit in the long term in case it becomes popular.

Nothing is going to happen. What happened after the offshore leaks of 2013? The information was hushed up, no one was prosecuted. The same will happen this time also. 90% of the politicians and the bureaucrats are corrupt. They will make sure that this time also, all the information will be destroyed and kept out of public sight. is not that right??
