it's time to publish detailed photos of three systems, videos of each mining at full capacity, etc ... is absurd that we continue buying blindly.

If it's so absurd, why do you keep doing it?

I wonder what difference it makes who visits ? as long as we get videos of ASICs performing, and pictures of the assembling line, then that's all the proof we need.

Don't you think by then that will be a moot point? BFL will probably have videos already posted of the things running before anyone visits.

I'm surprised no one has asked for his birth certificate to be posted. I know I'd feel a lot better about the company if we saw his birth record.

Seriously, the man shows incredible transparency here and some of you are grasping at straws to keep on bitching. Would this forum cease to exist if it was a discussion of ideas rather than a place to make up stories out of your head?

Ok. Now it's out. Does this mean my Jalapeno won't do 3.5 gh/s?

"a) way too optimistic with their timeframe... no ASICs before the new year at least, and
b) pulling the specs out of their arse... sure, ASICs would improve on FPGAs and do great damage to the GPU and FPGA miner diehards, but their quoted speeds and powers are bullshit."

BFL owners are known to be optimistic, but that is the only type of person that succeeds. So far their success has been based on delivering a superior product, so it seems their optimism was warranted.

Why didn't you just request that they move your money from the Singles to the Single SC or the Jalapeno. I heard they were doing that, although it may take them awhile.

I have a Jalapeno order in but am missing the point here. Why exactly are we listing stuff here. There may be (probably are) a lot of people who aren't even on this forum.

If the Jalapeno is going to be a coffee warmer, too, i think it should come in some cool colors like the little iPods have. Then i could give them as Christmas gifts and get more people interested in BitCoins.

I doubt you will have to pay the shipping for it to go back, but with the way the postal system loses things you may not get your original purchase price back if you don't have tracking to prove that the seller got their merchandise back.

Re: Bitcoin Payroll = Fail
by
Zara

I don't think there will be a problem specifically with mindset if employee given an option to receive "paycheck" in either bitcoins or fiat, or both. They can figure out for themselves what's more beneficial to them.

The problem with payroll may be taxes that employer deducts from "paycheck". Lets say at a time of payroll bitcoins were worth $5/BTC. Employee keeps bitcoins for savings. Then after a while lets say bitcoins are worth $100/BTC and an employee decides to convert his/her saved bitcoins into fiat. He paid taxes when he received payroll when they were $5/BTC, does this employee don't pay any more taxes or does he have to pay additional taxes for the difference of $95 in value? This may potentially be nightmare situation for accounting payroll taxes when dealing with bitcoin payroll payments.

Are there any cases of people receiving payroll in precious metals and how was appreciation/depreciation handled once converted into fiat? If there are then it may be applied to Bitcoins as well.

Couldn't you just convert at the time of payroll? Let's say federal taxes are 15%, and they get paid 100 bitcoin. You could take 15 bitcoin, convert it to dollars at the market rate, and pay federal taxes. I think at that point it's done; if the money appreciates or depreciates after that, it doesn't matter. Any accountants that can shed light on the matter?

Do any of you own businesses? have you offered to pay in BTC? It must start as a grassroots practice. My boss favors BTC and has offered to pay us in BTC.

I have hundreds of Harry Potter Trading Cards (by Wizards of the Coast). They are of a discontinued series, so they are continuing to rise in value. I'll give more details to anyone who is interested.

Are you taking BTC for them?

In your opinion, is it too late to order a BFL Single--not an ASIC. How long would it take to break even on the purchase if I bought one today? What if I could find one from a third party (not the manufacturer--I hear they are slow)?

I guess this is the place to start logging those required posts, so we can participate. My friend has a BFL Single that she runs at work and she let me bring it home with me this weekend. It runs great but BitMinter does not see it. So at the moment I am "Zara Clueless."
