Re: 3 7950's on a 850w PSU?
by

I've been mining for 3 months with 4x HD 7950 Dual X on a 1100W PSU. My kill-o-watt shows a consumption of 1000W at the wall.
So you should be able to handle 3x HD 7950 with your PSU.

(My cards are overclocked at 1030 mhz and undervolted)

January started really bad.
I've been mining here since september with the same hashrate and I've got the worst BTC/day average this month (but still profitable  Grin)

Soooo I noticed it said "SICK" (R9 290) a few mins ago and thought it was weird that i had never noticed it.
Then a few mins later I saw the temp drop so i checked again and now it says "DEAD".
A full restart of the rig seems to have it back running but I don't know what would have caused it? Anyone seen this before?
Did you overclocked your GPU ?
This happen to me when the card voltage is too low compared to my overclocking.

It also happens around 2-3 times a month for no reason.

Today, I've got a lot of rejected hash rate.
On middle coin, I'm near 30% and on CGminer around 12%. I'm usually around 3-5%, am I the only one ?

First time this happen to me (I'm mining on Middlecoin for 4 months now), any idea ?

H2O, you should communicate over the EU server (first post of this topic and middlecoin.com)
I've been mining since september and just noticed there was a EU server online for few days yesterday.

Re: Risers PCI-E 1x => 16x alimentés en France ?

Re: HELP: Mixing MSI 7950 with Sapphire 7950, will it work? :)

No problems mixing cards.

BTW, I own 4x Sapphire HD 7950 (Dual X) and they work perfectly with a nice O/C.

OK, at risk of hijack (though useful to the OP i'm sure), what do you get out of the Sapphire Vapor?  Scrypt i assume?  I've tried everything with one and i cant get above 560 KH/s (was ~600 MH/s under SHA256 for raw Bitcoin).  I am using a full width riser because it wouldn't fit in the PC (HP office box, free and with 4GB) but not sure why that would make a difference.

as for mixing cards, everyone says no problems, but i found the main card dropped significantly in output when adding a second.  use of un-powered risers might be an issue here, though i still don't get why power isn't transferred through the riser if its available and required by the card (which should surely just require the PSU input).

Back to the OP, in cgminer you just have to separate the settings for different cards using " ," between values, as they'll probably have different optimal clock and Intensity settings.

My cards are Dual X and not Vapor ones. And yes, I mine scrypt coins.
My cards mine at 620 khs, they can do better but my PSU is only 1100W so I wanted to stay around 1000W consumption to get the best PSU efficiency. So I lowered my voltage a lot. It's strange cause you should be able to easily reach 600 khs with your 7950.

BTW, I use powered risers for each card. I burnt the ATX pin before so I strongly recommend to ALWAYS use powered risers. I haven't got any speed deterioration (even for cards connected on x1 PCIe connectors). BUT I never noticed a speed deterioration using powered/unpowered risers.

The cheapest MB with 3 or 4 PCIe you can find will do the work.
Just use powered risers.

Bought a Gigabyte (970-DS3) on the second hand market for 50$. It's mining fine for 3 months.

Let's say I buy 2x 7950 at 200EUR/piece

I have a motherboard and processor available, so my only costs are the 2 cards.

Will I ever be able to break even? within about 3-4 months using this pool?

Bought a whole miner config 3 months ago (around 1000 euros including 4x new HD7950 and second hand stuff for the rest of hardware). Already reached the break even. I've been lucky because Middlecoin was making more BTC than today and 1 BTC was around 200 € when I started.

Actually, 1 BTC worth 650 euros. Regarding my earning with 4x HD 7950, you should be able to make around 7-8 € each day with 2x HD 7950. You should be able to reach the break even within +/- 3 months depending your electricity costs.

Personally, I took HD 7950 instead of 7970 because the cost is much lower for a bit less performance.

Ok, thanks for the info! Still not sure if I will step in or not... Won't the difficulty rise so quick that I won't even be able to make my money back?

On Middlecoin, you're not mining BTC directly so you are not affected by the BTC difficulty. Each coin we mine on Middlecoin have their own difficulty but not as high as BTC one.
If you go for it, just be sure you will be able to run your computer 24/24 and you have some time for setup (installing OS, overclocking/undervolting GPU, solving problems/bugs).

I've been mining at full power for one month.
1/3 of my earnings are benefits for me. Electricity costs 0.2 $ per KWatts at my place.

It is still interesting to mine with GPU !

I haven't got reject problems with Middlecoin :/
This also happens while the pool is mining and not moving to another coin.

A friend of mine who is working in a big bank (as a trader Grin) told me BTC shows on his currency exchange panel but he can't trade it for the moment...
He also told me BTC is currently tested on some big exchange platform at the moment but can't be used for trading at the moment.

Re: HELP mining 7950 using onboard 4 display

I'm not sure that's possible, I thought that only one or the other could be used at any given time.

Have you messed with Lucid MVP or Lucid Virtu?

i have no idea what that is.

i am also having trouble with app skd drive, always get the "install failure" window

"Install failure" may happen if you installed catalyst drivers with the SDK already included in it.
Regarding dummy plug, you don't need them. It was only for older drivers which couldn't activate GPU without a screen plugged in it (11.x drivers).

But why you want to use the onboard HD3300 chipset ?

Try to avoid Catalyst starting with the system (type msconfig in search area -> startup -> Uncheck catalyst). It solved a lot of problems for me.
