Re: we are going to - NEW PUMPS.
by

on 26/11/2018, 12:32:28 UTC
i disagree because you are generalizing it to ALL.

what we have right now is
- a little price recovery in bitcoin which brought it back up to $4k level. and that meant a recovery in altcoins that got dumped hard.
- recovery does not mean a pump is coming. a recovery is just a recovery!
- ICOs are still dead and abandoned for the most part and majority of them will continue dying until they completely disappear. investing in them is not wise.
- finally the pumps will only occur in short time and for a selected few coins at a time not all of them and you need to be aware of the process to dump fast.

For certain coins like the Bitcoin Cash, the price might rise.

https://coingeek.com/original-bitcoin-reborn-bitcoin-sv-bsv-bch-hash-war-ends/

CoinGeek Mining is pleased to announce the original Bitcoin is back with Bitcoin SV (ticker: BSV). CoinGeek will support a permanent chain split from Bitcoin Cash (BCH), continue mining the BSV chain, and will work with others globally to establish a vibrant ecosystem for the BSV coin. This ends the on-going BCH hash war triggered by the November 15, 2018 network upgrade.

Monero is a very strong coin, but the General situation of the market does not fully understand the potential of this project. We wait and hope for the best.

Many of my friends understands the potential of Monero. They are starting to buy it gradually.

Re: Need your opinion on Bitcoin payment idea

Guys,

This has been stuck in my head for some time and I thought it's about time to write it down and get some input/feedback.

So what are two major problems in crypto?

1. With some banks it's illegal to buy crypto with your bank account and bank accounts have been closed in the past for this reason. This is stopping some people of buying bitcoins or go through localbitcoins.

2. People that want to pay invoices/bills (like electricity bill => miners etc), have the issue of converting crypto into fiat and withdraw it to their bank accounts (or maybe they don't even own a bank account anymore). Withdrawing money from an exchange also means clear exposure to the banks, so they could shut down your account as well as you are interacting with exchanges.

So what could be a solution?

Have a localbitcoins type of site where you can do the following:

Example
Mister X needs to pay his electricity bill with crypto. He posts the bill data to the site and the crypto he wants to pay with. Once someone wants to buy crypto they simply pay the bill for mister X and they get the crypto unlocked in the escrow.

This can be done with ETH smart contracts in a totally decentralised way, even with Aragon governance. There should be some kind of trust/rating system as well.

Just a very rough idea, but want to get this discussion going.

That is a good idea. But the process will take some time.

Re: Is hodling alts dangerous?

Holding is not very dangerous. Each investment carries some risk. It depends on what coins you keep. If you have good and promising coins, it's definitely worth holding. Before investing you need to do research to avoid buying shitcoins.

That is right. If you hold the top 10 mineable coins such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash and ETH, or Monero, that is fine.

holding alts can be dangerous, this can be profitable or loss. look for a coins that has good potential in the future to holding rather than choosing a coins without potential. this can reduce the risk of loss

That is right. I just hold good alts like the Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and ZCash. They are quite secure.

I think the increase of search comes after the price rise, not the other way around.

I feel like these numbers are too low, it will be $5000 minimum.

That could be right. Or it should use the Bitcoin as the base price.

Personally I think XMR > ETH in 1 year, XMR > BTC in 5 years.  That's my primary time-scale.

I can see XMR going past ETH in a year, but I'm not really too sure about XMR > BTC in 5 years. Remember back in the spring when ETH had the monster pump and it seemed like The Flippening was going to happen? Never did.

BTC for all of its flaws still has the network effect. And as we see in companies like Google, Facebook, and Twitter, having a network effect on your side means that you can dominate the landscape even if your product is subpar.

Let's set more realistic target. I hope the XMR can surpass Dash in a year.

@Claymore, is support for Nvidia cards down the road? Or developing such compatibility is not planned?

I think Claymore will let other developers make a living.

Re: The year of 2017 would be a golden year of bitcoin and what is your thought?

as far as price goes and the rise of it, we are all happy and enjoy the rise.  and it has been rising so far with a very solid rate.
but as far as adoption goes, we are not yet close to the golden ages. and i will call a year a "golden year" when we can see some real adoption and see some more people seeing bitcoin as a currency.
yes from the very beginning of 2017 the price of bitcoin is increasing, therefore we can expect that the price of bitcoin will cross 2000 USD level very soon and that is the reason that 2017 will be the golden year of 2017.

$2000 could be reached by the end of the year, so it is not very soon.

I'm always very cautious when it comes to the price of Bitcoin, but that's probably because I view things very short-term rather than the long game.

The recent surge in BTC price left me constantly saying "it is gonna tank again", sure enough it did but only to recover as the trend continues.

Will be interesting to see where things go now and what effect (if any) it has on some of the more popular altcoins.

The start of the 2017 is good. But if the price rise is lower than 20% per month, that is even better.

Re: What is Max amount of btc once you own?

I had around 1 BTC or fractions less than that few months ago, Did invest in some altcoins and lost a big portion of it and had around 0.3 btc after the coin fell in price.

If you invested the 1 bitcoin into Ethereum 10 months ago, then use the proceed to invest in Monero, you are rich.

The price had a nice rebound from the low. Is $100 by Thanksgiving to early?

The price is just $10 at the moment. I do not think the price will go to $100 in a few weeks. It might be in a few years.

The bitcoin has a nice value this time and that is 600 dollar and we all love it to see the bitcoin back at the 600 but what we dont like to see is that the price of the bitcoin is already dropping.

The bitcoin price is around $608 at the moment. When the benefit of SegWit is felt, the price will rise further.

It is a fairly safe way to make money but the rates are very low especially considering the fact that bitcoin price could fall meaning a loss. Bitfinex offers the same thing but with better rates, you could try them out. Despite this, the rates are still low, I would personally prefer to invest in a casino bankroll.

The Bitfinex got hacked. If you store some bitcoin there, you will not get back for a very long period.

If your are a customer of Bitfinex with funds illegally retained by the exchange and wish to recover all of your funds as fast as possible then come join our effort to file class action lawsuits against Bitfinex with the help of a team of expert lawyers, consultants and security specialists.
