I was reading this thread and found it interesting. Just a few questions get in my mind:
What if I find a zero-bit privkey address? How long would it take me to find a private key for this address, knowing only the address? Is it a million years, assuming that I don't have a public key?
Can you show us what you mean by zero bit private key? If it has "zero" bits then how can you derive an address from it? But there is a solution for you, it's not related to zero or 256, you can find 2^96 different private keys for every single address out there, under one condition, you'd have to brute force 2^80 keys to find one collision.(in theory)I was reading this thread and found it interesting. Without public key, only having the address and knowing the exact range, you can go ahead and try puzzle #66, even if you halve the range, you'd still need to grind 2^65 keys.😉
So if i would ever find an address with a privkey of 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 but no public key - is it something i would have to run 2^65 keys to open it?

1) Were the words in understandable English, or were they incomprehensible letters and words?
2) What is the date that file was created/modified?
3) What is the file extension? Is it txt or did you open the file using Notepad and it worked for you?
4) Are there any additional files, names of wallets, or any additional information?
I think you opened an encrypted/encoded file, so your answers to these questions may help us a little.

4. There is no other information there. Except if this is somehow password-encrypted, his wife might know the password as he always used the same password for everything It is kids' names with dates.
At first, I thought is was AES encryption, but my best guess it would require IV and 32b keys, but there is no key in a text file. I really doubt that he could do some advanced encryption as he was not a computer geek.
I could be wrong, but maybe this is from Blockchain.info old wallets. See if your string looks similar to this?:

Also, regarding your 32-character string. Could you show us a few characters from it? It could possibly be either a Bitcoin address or a blockchain.info wallet ID (which I believe should have 36 characters if you include the 4 dashes).

I need your help, if someone can help me to solve one issue.
My cousin passed away a few months ago and I got his laptop from his wife. She asked me to get all of his private data from it and sell it. I have found a "bitcoin" folder there and a text file in it. It says little to nothing to me except a few text lines like "@32capital letters and numbers@" and a B64 string. I will not give the exact figures as due to the risk of losing all of it. I am not sure if there are any bitcoins there, but if someone could help me to figure out what could the 32 characters, separated by @@ mean and how can be associated with this B64 I would be glad to share with whatever I find there.

Thanks every1 for help. I still did not try to import my privkey as i believe it is not in WIF format as back in 2010 it was a bit different. Am i right with that? I'm scared a.f. to make a mistake there

If you imported the private key: does it show the correct address?
I have imported the address and re- synced the wallet. I did not want to import the pvirkey after i saw that the balance does not match, tho the wallet address is correct. I did not import my privkey as i have heard some stories that people lost their bitcoins just because of stupid mistakes they did. So i have to export the public key out of my privkey?If you imported the private key: does it show the correct address?

Hi guys.
I wonder if you can help me. I have turned my old laptop and found out that i have got 5 Bitcoins back in 2010. I have scribbled a privkey and address. Now i have tried to download Bitcoin core wallet to get my coins to action, but for some reason i do not see my coins there. But i can clearly see them in the block explorer. Is it something to do with the fact that i got them before core wallets came in? I can't clearly remember what i did to get these coins back then as it was 13 year ago. Could you help me to figure this out?
The block explorer say:
This address has transacted 7 times on the Bitcoin blockchain. It has received a total of x.xxx BTC $xxx and has sent a total of 0.00000000 BTC $0.00 The current value of this address is x.xxx
It also show that it has a total of 7 transactions in and none of them out. First transaction made in 2010 and others in 2019-2022. When i sync bitcoin full node wallet, i can only see those 6 transactions that happened in 2019-2022, but not the one that has been in 2010
