I've had to reinstall Ubuntu on my offline computer and although I made the proper paper wallet backups, now I'd like to reinstall Armory on it. So far I'm not successful in finding the offline bundles for Armory and I was hoping someone could point me to them.

I've noticed that the full silver 10 BTC is offered less than the version with the gold plated B, while initially being cheaper at Casascius.com. Mike once mentioned that the division is about 50/50 but I'm wondering if this is correct. Does anybody have more information on this subject?

Whenever I import a wallet I get the message Armory needs to scan the transaction history which may take some time. I was wondering if it is possible to import more than one wallet at a time and then scan only once.

Be absolutely sure you don't install Armory in a different folder than the previous installation. This might lead to a complete loss of all your (non-backed up) wallets.

That depends on whether I'm able to get them attached to my last will. If so, they will be stored in the Centraal Testamentregister, a national database in the Netherlands containing every last will. If not, they will be stored at the notary's office in a safe. In any case, a last will is protected by law to be a private document.

My plan is to construct a 2 of 4 backup.

• One paper in my house
• Second one as a digital file, encrypted with TrueCrypt and uploaded to Google Drive (protected by 2FA)
• Third paper with my parents
• Fourth paper attached to my last will

With this scheme I am always able to reconstruct my own wallets without external help, although it's still very hard for anyone to get their hands on more than one backup. I am protected from a fire destroying my house and my family can access my funds in case I die.

I tried starting Armory using this command line, in settings the default dir was changed that way. Loading seemed somewhat faster in one instance, in others it was equally slow as starting Armory the regular way.

With a little patience I can get Armory to work however, so it isn't a pressing problem. I am worried though that other people might lose their wallet if they have moved the blockchain or install folder in a similar fashion, although I am not sure if a good solution is available.

I installed the Windows 64 bit .16 version over the .14, though not in C: but in a different drive. When I do this, the copy of the blockchain is deleted and I have to wait an hour for the database to build again. After this is done, my wallets are completely gone and I can't seem to find a good way of getting them back easily without resorting to paper backups. I'm not sure if this is default behaviour, but I can imagine this will scare the shit out of some people.

Edit: to clarify, it was originally installed in C:, the second time in a different drive. In both cased I had symbolic links made in AppData\Roaming\ to both the Armory and Bitcoin folders, located on a different drive. Oh and for some reason it takes about 15 minutes for Armory to get the database build each time I start it.

Well it's starting, that's for sure. But this could go on for a few more years, going through multiple boom and bust cycles and reaching a higher platform each time. So far there's not that much money invested in Bitcoin yet, with individual investors still being the largest group. Even the venture capitalists seem to have invested more in Bitcoin related start-ups than in Bitcoin itself, never mind the really big institutional money.
 
Since the senate hearings I'm also more convinced the legal matters will be resolved in a way positive for the Bitcoin environment, as the politicians aren't complete idiots either and want to see economic growth, innovation and jobs. From this point on it's a waiting game until we reach much, much higher prices. The market will probably overreact at some point as it did with the dot-com bubble in the late nineties and enter a longer period of stagnation, but even the peak might still be a few years away from now.

I had trouble sending a transaction, as the Send! button didn't seem to respond. The first time I got a message my transaction fee was insufficient, yet when I agreed to a higher one .... nothing, no response at all. Cancelling the transaction and trying again didn't work, restarting Armory didn't work.

However, a minute later it did get trough. This was right after a new block was found. Just a few minutes before this transaction, I sent the same amount (0.1 out of 0.35) to a new address from a previously restored paper wallet, in effect sending it to itself. Only after this transaction got it's first confirmation was I able to send the second one.

Armory works great for me on Windows 7 64-bit. I did encounter a nuisance though: If Bitcoin-QT isn't installed in the C:\Program Files\, Armory had trouble locating it. I tried to give the correct location in settings, though that didn't seem to work. I also found it difficult to remove the blockchain from my C drive as Armory keeps it's own copy there (which is a problem when working from an SSD with limited space). The solution was to open command prompt and make symbolic links for both Armory and Bitcoin, though it would have been easier if this could be done from settings.

This was an excellent interview, you certainly seem to know Bitcoin quite well. I like your focus on coloured coins as this is still somewhat uncharted territory as far as media attention goes. Could you, from your professional experience, give an estimation as to which steps need to be taken before this could be used in a real world application?

Most people are in jail because of drug related crimes (as a libertarian and recreational drug user, I think this is a travesty of justice). If you educate people in jail on Bitcoin, make sure you mention silk road. As more drugs is traded online, less will have to traded in the streets so this is beneficial to society.

Also, I would remove characters like 1, I, i, 0, O, o etc. to prevent confusion.

Btw really looking forward to the M-of-N function, with this I can create my final, long-term Horcruxes. I'm thinking of adding one to my testament, since that document will probably be around pretty much forever (I believe there is a national archive of some sorts for these things).
